When I inquired further about other options, he said that they could grease the rubber boot making the noise, which would last less than a year. When I inquired about whether I could reach the spot and apply the grease myself, he admitted yes, I could just grease it at the bottom of the steering column where it enters the floor. All told, I spent $150 to learn how to do a grease job that costs about $5, but at least I avoided the $2300 that Jerry was ready to sell to me. The mechanic told me the grease job should last 2-3 years. I do not plan to return to this place. More
