I live in Ohio and purchased a used vehicle from Cable Volkswagen in Oklahoma City, OK. I was told the car was in mechanically perfect condition as it had all of its maintenance done at Cable Volkswagen, Volkswagen in Oklahoma City, OK. I was told the car was in mechanically perfect condition as it had all of its maintenance done at Cable Volkswagen, was driven by one owner who was a 50 year old gentleman, was brought in every 5,000 miles for service, and its owner had never refused any repairs. This was assured, in writing, by the service manager. Because of this testament of mechanical reliability, I did not hesitate to fly to Oklahoma City, purchase the vehicle and drive it home. I knew that time would be tight since I had business meetings on the Friday before the weekend I flew down and on the returning Monday, but this was not a concern as I was assured the car was mechanically in tip-top shape. When I arrived at the dealership, I noticed that the vehicle had blacked out tinted windows, aftermarket headlights, was debadged, and had wires run for speakers, amplifiers and subwoofers. This came as a shock as I was told this car was owned by a 50 year old gentleman. Furthermore, upon inspection, I quickly discovered that the entire passenger side of the car was covered in rock chips that went down to the metal. These were not disclosed over the phone/email and were not detectible in the pictures. While this was disconcerting, I was mostly interested in a car that I could drive for the next 200,000 miles, so more than anything, the mechanical condition was important. I had already invested my time and money in a flight to OKC, so I decided to purchase the vehicle anyway and was able to get the price reduced by ~$250. While driving the car home, three significant mechanical defects, which did not show up during the test drive I took, manifested. Firstly, once the car was “warmed up,” the transmission would grind horribly between gears. Secondly, the thermostat was bad so the hottest the water temp would get was 30+ degrees shy of where it was supposed to be, even after 7 hours on the road. Most significantly, an important part of the turbocharger was seized up and was causing the car to go into “limp mode” shortly after each start up. The car is unable to maintain the speed limit upon any incline and has next to no power upon acceleration when in limp mode. After realizing these issues, I contacted Cable VW and let them know. I spoke with the service manager and he told me that they had record of two of the three issues and yet they had not been repaired. This came as a surprise as I was told no repairs had been refused. The general manager initially told me I could turn around and bring the car back, but I told them that, due to my work schedule, this was not possible. He later responded to me via email and said I could return the vehicle. I wanted to take him up on this option, but I never got a response when I asked for clarification on whether they would reimburse me for the cost of picking up and returning the vehicle. I have asked Cable VW to pay to have my car inspected by another VW dealership and pay to have the car repaired so that it is in the condition I was told the car was in when they sold it to me. The issues with the car will likely cost around $2000 dollars to repair (new turbocharger, new thermostat, replaced syncros in transmission). Cable VW has refused to answer my emails or phone calls. I filed a complaint with VW of America. VWoA were able to get a response but, unfortunately, Cable VW was unwilling to do anything to make the situation right. Cable VW is still refusing to return my emails/calls. Before you purchase a vehicle from Cable VW, please read this objective account of the transaction I had with them. I have done my best to tell both sides of the story so that the reader can decide, on his/her own, what type of dealership they are thinking about buying a vehicle from and what kind of integrity, honesty and continued support you can expect. Robert was very friendly and helpful on deciding which car would be better for it. After the purchase, he made sure that I was satisfied with the vehicle by keeping in touch. Our salesmen was nice and friendly and most of all he wasn't pushy. We named a price we thought we could afford and that I thought was fair; he took it to his boss and they said "okay." I already had my wasn't pushy. We named a price we thought we could afford and that I thought was fair; he took it to his boss and they said "okay." I already had my financing in place so within an hour we drove away with our new car. More
I knew which VW I wanted, and after a few emails with Jim Ramsey, he traveled out of state and found the exact one I wanted. (Before I ever even came into the dealership personally! - Another competitor ref Ramsey, he traveled out of state and found the exact one I wanted. (Before I ever even came into the dealership personally! - Another competitor refused to do so! ) Since I live more than 100 miles away from Cable, everything was handled via emails, phone calls and even texts. Jim went out of his way to get me the car I wanted at a nice price. He gave me a great trade in value and all the terms were taken care of prior to my arrival. My grandson had a T-ball tournament the following Saturday and me and my husband drove up to Cable. In between ball games we went by Cable, signed the paperwork and picked up my Beetle! I didn't miss one minute of my grandson's games! The service I was given by Jim Ramsey and Jon Cable was friendly and just terrific. And the detail guy had my little Bug shining like a gem! I am very happy with Cable Volkswagen. More
I came in and purchased a pre-owned Nissan that Cable had advertised on their website. In the end I am very pleased with my overall experience in dealing with Jim Ramsey and John Cable in-person and over-th advertised on their website. Both of these guys are very professional and courteous and I would highly recommend this dealership to anyone looking for a good used car or new Volkswagen. More
Our experience was with the service department. It started out great. We took our older Jetta in with an electronics problem. The guy who helped us, Jeff, was very good. He fixed the problem and even started out great. We took our older Jetta in with an electronics problem. The guy who helped us, Jeff, was very good. He fixed the problem and even found a few recall issues that they fixed for free. They also mentioned that they couserver ice the headlight covers which were very murky. We thought the price sounded reasonable, so we agreed. The car was finished the same day we dropped it off. My husband went in and paid for the car. It was the same price that Jeff had told so there was no surprise that it cost over $500 and we were happy with the work. The problem arose the following day when Jeff called and said that they had forgotten to bill us $90 for labor. My husband was baffled by this as we had already paid for the services rendered and had received an itemized bill which we paid in full. My husband stated that he was not inclined to pay additional money as our bill had already been settled. Jeff said he would look into it and get back with us. We didn't hear anything until a month later when the billing department called and demanded payment and went so far as to ask for credit card information over the phone. Long story short. We did not pay this additional money. We had several calls from the billing department. My husband even talked to a manger who tried to lay a guilt trip on him. My husband spoke to someone over the phone that was supposedly Mr. Cable, the owner. Same thing. He tried to make it out as if we were in the wrong. When my husband asked him how we would know for sure that we wouldn't get a cal the following month asking for additional payment, he was told that this time they would give him something in writi g saying that we wouldn't owe them any more money. To this, my husband stated that we already had something in writing that said our bill was paid in full. We will never use this dealership again and we will tell everyone we know to stay away! More
Worst Car Buying experience ever!!! Waited in line forever to process paperwork, then after hasseled over paperwork issues and planned to finance elsewhere, cable VW then said would not require anythi forever to process paperwork, then after hasseled over paperwork issues and planned to finance elsewhere, cable VW then said would not require anything additional after 3 weeks of giving them additional paperwork. No gas in car - car was on empty when obtained and did not re-detail even though promised gas and detailing if brought back car to dealorship. The dealorship lost the manual and additional set of keys, and we were told that they would have extra set of keys made and sent to us - have not received or heard from them in over two months. To top everything off, they took so long to send us the title that by the time we received the title, we had to pay late fees to transfer it over!! Will never again purchase a car here! More
This is the third time I stopped by this dealership. In 2012 I was looking to buy a 2012 Toareg TDI, the salesman I spoke with was standoffish and condescending. Ended up buying the car from Fowler Norman 2012 I was looking to buy a 2012 Toareg TDI, the salesman I spoke with was standoffish and condescending. Ended up buying the car from Fowler Norman where I was treated like a customer should. 2nd time I was looking for a 2012 gasoline VW jetta sportwagon for my wife. the manager told me that there was none available in the US. Went back to Fowler who found one in TX. About two weeks ago I decided to give cable another chance at my business, I was looking at a new 2012 VW golf GTI Mike the salesman made me a ridiculous offer for my trade as a way to get rid of me. Well thanks Mike I got a better deal yet again from Fowler. Need less to say I will never be dealing with Cable VW and I will never recommend that anyone waste their time shopping at this dealership where salesmen do not want to work for customer's business.
