I bought a car from O'Connell Motors and had such a good experience I had my daughter buy a car there as well. I found the Owner (Brian) very open and honest about the cars and the prices very competitive. When I did have a small problem, the car was fixed within the day I had scheduled to come in. I would recommend this dealership to anyone and found it a step above most of the used car dealers out there. I had seen a negative review but found the opposite true. I can only assume the other review was by someone who was looking for a new car at bargain used car pricing. I must say the car I bought felt like new. More
This dealership is quite a ripoff. I was shocked to read about what great cars that the "reviewers" were sold because the one I was sold was in "unsafe condition," according to two different mechanics. One about what great cars that the "reviewers" were sold because the one I was sold was in "unsafe condition," according to two different mechanics. One mechanic offered to take me home as he didn't think the car would make it without a problem. When I called O'Connell to complain, I was given the runaround (several different times). He even had me bring my car to him for over 2 weeks, he did nothing to it, and then refused to give me the car back. It took a call to the police before the keys were handed over. The owner also tried to sell me on having my car "serviced" by his "mechanic." If that mechanic couldn't tell the car they sold me was unsafe, I certainly don't want him touching any other car I own. I made a smarter deal at a dealership, where I received an excellent car with low mileage at an unheard of price. Don't waste your time with these jokers! More
I bought a Ford Thunderbird from O'Connell Motors almost twenty years ago and had good luck with it so when I moved back from the West Coast this year in need of a car I went back to see them. I shopped so twenty years ago and had good luck with it so when I moved back from the West Coast this year in need of a car I went back to see them. I shopped some other dealers in the area but I felt that O'Connells cars were in the best condition and they had a good selection in my price range (under $8000). Brian, the owner, has a good eye for selecting nice cars. My salesman Bill gave me his candid opinion of the different cars and showed me Consumer Reports surveys of the ones I was most interested in, then he let me decide. I'm really happy with the Acura TL I bought and the price was good. Even my mechanic liked it but suggested that I have O'Connell change the timing belt which they agreed to and did promptly. Overall, this was a pleasant car shopping experience. O'Connell Motors is a straight forward dealership that doesn't play any games. They're a pleasure to do business with. More
This is actually a response to the review of "skoorb" which was not too flattering. I was unable to find a way to respond using this websites format so I will do so here. The unhappy customer, Brooks C which was not too flattering. I was unable to find a way to respond using this websites format so I will do so here. The unhappy customer, Brooks Crowley (aka xxxxx) bought a 98 Mazda 626 on June 9, 2006 with 112,112 miles on it. On June 30, 2006 Mr. Crowley brought his car in with 114,714 miles on it complaining of air conditioning failure and a squealing power steering belt. The car was sold with a 30 day/ 1250 mile(whichever omes first) warranty- not 1200 miles as Mr. Crowley states. Mr. Crowley was 1352 miles out of warranty as he made numerous runs to New York in that period. Massachusetts law does not require dealers to warranty squeaks and rattles or A/C but we try to keep our customers happy so we offered to replace the belt at no charge and to replace the A/C compressor and recharge for $175. Mr. Crowley was angry that he should have to pay any money for the repairs since he had not had the car for 30 days. We made the repairs and Mr. Crowley paid the $175. Many car dealers would not have made the repairs and Mr. Crowley would have had to pay his mechanic $700-800. We thought it was a fair resolution but you can't please everyone. We will continue to strive for 100% satisfaction. For the record: 1) We have sold hundreds of cars each year for the past 16 years and a call to the Attorney Generals Office or the Better Business Bureau will show not a single complaint against our dealership for as far back as the records go. 2)I am the only owner. Bill has been my salesman for many years but is not related. My father died in 1987. Sincerely, Brian O More
In short they should change the name of this dealership to O-CON-ELL motors. This place is the definition of a shady used car dealership. The two owners, bill and brian have made a living scaming people to O-CON-ELL motors. This place is the definition of a shady used car dealership. The two owners, bill and brian have made a living scaming people for the last 2 generations. I made the mistake of buying a car from them which broke down literally 10 miles after the 1200 mile warranty. They of course refused to honor the warranty and took forever to get back to me. Bill (the father) is particulary surly and difficult to deal with. Unless you like feeling like you've been totally scammed and enjoy driving a lemon car DO NOT BUY FROM THESE CROOKS. More
