Clogged sunroof drains Over the summer my car would periodically flash all the warning lights, with the speedometer and odometer going crazy. I took it to my neighborhood mechanic who had serviced my car for many years and they were unable to diagnose the problem. At the time my son mentioned that it seemed like this happened after it rained really bad. I mentioned this to my mechanic one of the times I brought it in with this problem but he didn’t feel that would cause this situation. On Thursday Dec 12th after a snow storm and rain that week the problem reoccurred when I was leaving work. This time there was a lack of power when I tried to accelerate. Fearing I wouldn’t safely make it home I left my car at work. On Friday I had the vehicle towed to Boch Nissan. They called to let me know they AAA had delivered the car and that they would let me know as soon as they had a diagnosis. In less than an hour I received a call back from Aziz who explained that the sunroof drains were clogged and instead of the water going through the drains and out by the front tires the water was backing up into the cabin and short circuiting some of the wiring that runs from the front to the back of the vehicle. They were going to clean out the drains and dry out the carpet on the drivers side under the floor mat and hopefully that would fix the problem. Aziz called me twice more on Friday to give me updates. It was ultimately determined that the vehicle needed to stay overnight to try to dry it out some more. On Saturday morning Aziz called again to let me know that they had taken the car for a test drive and put it on the computer and all the codes had cleared. As much as you don’t want to spend money in your car two weeks before Christmas, it was a relief knowing that this problem had finally been fixed. I can’t thank Aziz enough for explaining to me what the situation was and what had caused it. He was very kind, helpful and professional. More
