Bait and switch tactics at play at Northampton VW. I sent an inquiry via cars.com to Northampton VW to ask about the availability and price of a car I had seen online. Michael Silva, the Internet Sale I sent an inquiry via cars.com to Northampton VW to ask about the availability and price of a car I had seen online. Michael Silva, the Internet Sales Manager, promptly responded and quoted the same price I had seen on cars.com. I scheduled an appointment with Michael to come see and hopefully purchase said vehicle. On the day of the appointment, one week after the original inquiry, I received a call from Michael reconfirming my plans to attend the appointment, at which time I reconfirmed with him the price he originally quoted. When I arrived Michael wasn’t there, but Jason LeClair was able to help get us set up for a test drive, which went well. We were ready to move forward with purchase, but when the offer presented was $4k higher than the emailed/confirmed offer Michael had shared. When asked about the discrepancy Jason brought over Frank Marvici who informed us that there was a pricing error in the offer Michael had provided. When informed that Michael had reconfirmed the figure over the phone that day Frank stated that Michael didn’t have the authority to offer that price. I was told that the dealership would not be able to sell the vehicle at the quoted price and was told the best they could do was $500 less, or $3,500 more than the previously confirmed offer. It’s very disappointing that this dealership refuses to acknowledge a quoted price, and if it truly was a pricing error, didn’t communicate as much until the offer was printed and on the table. More
Jason, Isaac & Angel were all great. Fun, welcoming, patient, and through. We had to wait a long time to finalize, but it was due to previous customers Angel was helping before us. Jason and the Northampton VW team went above and beyond for the lease of my new Atlas Cross Sport. Knowing that exactly what I wanted was not available on site, they were able to locate and acquire the car for the lease of my new Atlas Cross Sport. There's a legendary tire story regarding Nordstrom that illustrates how to do customer service the right way. Unfortunately, NoHo VW appears to 'talk the talk', but refuses to 'walk the walk'. The fail illustrates how to do customer service the right way. Unfortunately, NoHo VW appears to 'talk the talk', but refuses to 'walk the walk'. The fails included 1) a major misdiagnosis (e.g., they claimed my ECM was bad) that would have made my car only operable for local driving - potentially for months - as a new part is unavailable nationwide with no ETA, 2) a refusal to acknowledge, no less reimburse me for the misdiagnosis - and let's not even get into the many hours spent searching for a used part and driving to my VW dealer of record (I recently returned to the Pioneer Valley) 90 miles away multiple times, 3) a complete unwillingness to help resolve the problem using a used part (same part #, same model, year, and configuration) - something VW Westborough was happy to do - an action that led to a different (and successful) diagnosis (it was a bad fuel pump) and had my car fully functioning within 18 hours, 4) and a complete lack of follow-up from everyone who was sent detailed emails, including the Service Advisor, the Service Manager, and the owner of the dealership. As someone who has owned high-end (Passat W8, Passat 3.6L AWD, CC 3.6L AWD) Volkswagen cars for 20 years I've never had such a horrific experience with a VW Dealership - and the management at NoHo VW don't seem to care.
