I had done a lot of research and gone to other dealerships only to get the usual runaround (changing prices, changing cars, "talks with manager"). I go into a car buying experience expecting it to be painful and long. I came into the dealership at 11am, talked with Donovan, took a test drive, and walked out at 2pm with a new car. Jovan handled all the financial aspects/paperwork and was also great to deal with. No nonsense, just how a purchase like this should be. I also noticed during the test drive that the brakes were giving a little vibration. They told me to drive it for a few days and come back if it didn't resolve itself (thought it might be some corrosion on the rotors). I brought the car back in when it didn't go away and walked out with a new set of front brakes for no charge. I've been telling everyone I know about this place and will definitely consider them for any future purchases. More

Did my homework and it paid off Like most people, I'm not a fan of the car buying experience. Too many dealers either ignore real customer service or pay lip service to it. I spent a lot of time researching this purchase and had narrowed down our search to a few different makes and models. Besides getting the car we wanted at the right price, It was just as important to me that the dealership treat us with respect. Based on reviews on DealerRater and other sites, we decided to head to North Shore Mazda to look at the CX9. I was greeted by Dmitriy Rutman and told him I had a limited amount of time as I was on my way to work. We sat down and had a low key discussion about what I liked about my current car and what I was looking for in a new purchase. It was a relaxed and realistic conversation and I took a quick test drive to make sure the CX9 would be a good fit. We agreed to meet again in about a week when my wife would be available. Before leaving, Dmitriy introduced me to Dan McBride, the General Manager, who asked me how the visit had gone and if I had any questions. I walked out the door without any pressure to commit to a purchase. On our return visit, my wife took a test ride and we agreed to sit down with Dmitriy to talk about a possible deal. We were trading in an older high mileage vehicle and the dealership gave us a fair trade amount based on it's age and condition. The deal progressed pretty quickly. The initial offer was competitively priced, sparing us the phony ordeal of a bare knuckled back and forth negotiation. I made a counter offer that Dmitriy brought to Dan McBride which they accepted. We met with Kevin Hundley to process the sales and finance paperwork. Kevin is very low key and easy going. As with any dealership, they do offer a number of insurance and other add-on services. I know this is another revenue source for the dealership, but Kevin explained each thoroughly and didn't pressure us to buy. It's been a few weeks since our purchase so I've had a chance to think about our overall experience. A few themes emerged: our time was valued and we were treated in an open, respectful manner. Dmitriy has been in the business for a while and is a knowledgeable and patient sales consultant. I found his directness and low key sense of humor to be refreshing. Like any dealership, North Shore Mazda is in the business of selling as many cars as possible. They've made a business decision to do this by not playing games. If this is how you like to do business, I would highly recommend this dealership. More

I want to first say that despite the negative ratings, our Sales Rep, Jovan was awesome! Very friendly and helpful and he was able to help us find a car that met our needs. That being said, if it wasn our Sales Rep, Jovan was awesome! Very friendly and helpful and he was able to help us find a car that met our needs. That being said, if it wasn't for Jovan, my husband and I would have walked out. The overall customer service in this place was dreadful. We walked in and were greeted by not a single person. Some reps were with other people but half of them were at their desks or talking to each other. We looked around for awhile and still no one came over. After about 15 minutes, we sat down in the waiting area and still no one came over to even greet us. It was clear we were in need of some assistance. Finally, my husband got up and grabbed someone and asked if we could talk to someone about buying a car. Jovan came over and apologized and sat down with us to go over what we were looking for. After a few hours, we found a car and got everything signed and processed. Since it was a lease, we made arrangements to pick up the car the next business day. Jovan said he would be in contact to let us know the progress of everything. Jovan did call us and gave us updates a few times and said it should be ready by the end of the day. When I called around 6pm to see if it was ready, Lindsay answered and had absolutely no clue what I was talking about and gave me Jovan's cell phone number to just speak with him. I asked her if she could just check to see if the car was ready. She came back and said she had no idea what I was talking about. Long story short, we got our car but the overall customer service (aside from Jovan and Kevin who helped us with the paperwork) was some of the worst I've ever experienced when buying a car. Hopefully this is not a reflection on Mazda as a whole as I would hate to regret my entire car buying experience. More
