New Subaru customer, did my homework prior to buying my 2021 Forester and from Purchase to almost $30,000 miles later I have absolutely zero regrets, I knew what I wanted, didn’t want, I was clear what I w 2021 Forester and from Purchase to almost $30,000 miles later I have absolutely zero regrets, I knew what I wanted, didn’t want, I was clear what I would pay & what I expected for my money and I expected resistance and what use to be a very anxiety causing purchase decision what pleasurable from start to current. I get stopped often in public and am asked, “how do you like your Subaru”? & before I realize it I show total stranger inside and out of my car and talk for an hour about how amazing NP Subaru has treated me since I bought my first Subaru. I come from a family (My Dad) that has owned a car dealership in NJ when I was a child, worked for Dodge/ Chrysler from 1980 to 1989, Ford from 1989 to 2014 when my father finally retired from sales leaving the industry with salesman of the month awards for almost every month for almost 30 years. I myself worked for JD Byrider as an assets manager for the CEO and I am as responsible to collect on vehicles that were in financial default and I would arrange repossession and resale to auto auctions nationwide. I did this for several years until one morning one of our wholesale salesman collapsed at YHE entrance of our parking lot in the driveway and I rushed to give him CPR, saving his life redefined my life so I went to college to become a nurse and realized collecting unpaid moneys although important would help keep the dealership alive my actions of repossessing car from those who may have been I’ll or fallen on hard time wasn’t very thoughtful or caring and much less rewarding that saving a life to drive another day. My experience at Subaru will never have a repo possibility because we signed zero interest for 4 years of payments and paid it in full in only 4 months and my husband Carlos Recio transferred the Title to his wife me and my name Cathleen Lamoureaux- Recio.! Being so happy we immediately start asking Subaru to find a a truck from one of you other location to meet very specific and basic need and the search was difficult with low new car production and even used car availability. Each time one of your sister locations had a vehicle we wanted to buy we kept hitting road blocks because those dealers ant us to travel to them to test vehicle and they want to make the deal. For us it felt like tug of war and NP Subaru wouldn’t do this to us from having such a great new relationship with us. Rene salesman, finance manager reworked price to include and exclude cost to meet the specifications that I either wanted or needed at pricing comparables from JD POWER, CONSUMER REPORTS, GEOGRAPHICAL PRICING FOR OUR SPECIFIC AREA, I PULLED CAR FAX, RESEARCHED CONSUMER COMPLAINTS TO SEE HISTORICALLY WHAT COULD OR HAS GONE WRONG or WEAR AND TEAR, RECALLS, IF THEY WERE RESOLVED OR IGNORED & WHAT THEY AS TBE TURN AROUND TIME & WHO COVERED COSTS …Subaru or the customer. Apparently I was very impressed so much so ,…… I understand unusual unprecedented in my 50 year life. Things happen but Subaru addresses these issues and fixes the problems well within the warranty period. I feel sorry for customer who postponed reporting concerned that allow warranty to lapse causing them to be financially responsible for something that could & would have been paid for on all item allowed to be covered during the time& of warranty timeline as clearly mentioned in the new car manual had you been informed at the time of purchasing new car. Plus newer cars tell us when something is wrong and schedules for us services appointments I get my alerts through car information dash alerts, test message, emails and also my Subaru health screen app. My only wish is that you sold basic work pickup trucks due to your history of safe and long lasting vehicles still on roads. Not as excited with our 2017 Chevrolet Silverado and a few sales law violation occurred that should have been made clear to us so we could leave deposit continue to shop around in the 4 months if we didn’t find anything and title legal ties up ends we would move forward with purchase and definitely renegotiate to what the fair market prices in current day. Vara could not get title transferred from former to us the newowner. Selling a vehicle a dealer does not own with the simple act of a clear title in Vara Chevrolet name means the car isshould not been available for sale and definitely not financing. The story we kept hearing about truck Vara acquired it from a family of a departed loved one. It was obvious the car estate was as in probate in courts and we are making payments that are not be refunded and we are contracted to make all payments with expectations of receiving free and clear title along with full ownership of truck. These aggravating delays had us driving with expired temp dealer tags and having to go out of our at to get them (4 time) Vara should have held our money as a deposit but allowed his finance push through contract and set payment schedule and dates: We were never told that this truck had title issues and legal complications: We would have continued to show and first available to its best deal would win our business but instead the gain our business through lies and deception just to make a sale even if it meant breaking the law. . Do not push financing to begin before it is verified that Vara can sell to us because we would look a fool we paid $455 time 5 before Vara even had legal right to title. This action was and is a state and a federal violation and is the number one reason a dealer should & do lose license to sell car.it would have been ideal for all concerned to pay a hold car deposit and allow us to keep shopping for lower miles and lower price. This is an excellent example of a dealer more about making the sale even if the car be returned back to the family who inherited. Since this was illegal sales practice my knowledge is very aware that selling us a truck that essentially was not their to sell . Gave them no write to push financing through, have us sign while not have the truck titled in Vara Name (SKIPPIING TITLES ILLEGAL) We were told deal was final & that we couldn’t shop else where we signed a binding contract (OR DID WE? Title what the key factor and 5th payment 5 months later we still had zero window sticker or plates. By the time it took them to get registration and title straight the market for new and used inventory was climbing back up and pricing back down the truck we financed at $33,000 & began paying on for 5 months all the while not knowing if it was all for nothing the late registration and title delays cost us unfair & overcharged compared to the new market 5 months later The following figures show how much we could have saved had the Vara Chevrolet sold cars under legal guidelines: We paid $33000-36000 5 weeks later as we pay for a car we may never get to own the industry changes Used 2018 Chevy Silverado wrk truck standard todays costs of $14861 ($33000-14861=$18914 savings) to a fair list of $18000 ($33000-$18000=$15000 saving) or $33009-$19000 =$16000 saving) but we really wanted brand new and could have had brand new with extras with maintenance, warranty and giving is added peace of mind.. They did nothing for causing us delays and preventing us from saving by purchasing elsewhere when the faced legal troubles that were not our responsibility. Paying $33000 while we could have paid $10000 more for a brand new 2023 and qualified for many financing incentives and discounts for military ect. that for new and we paid $36000 for 58000 miles used 2018 Chevy Silverado Work Truck with no warranty, 1 oil change and nothing else but had Vara acted legally we could have purchased a brand new 2023 Chevy Silverado Work truck for $10,000 more and most definitely could have saved so much interest, been the first owner, have service and maintenance plan, road side and so on: The truck is ok, the price is not. We were not rushing to buy a truck unless it met my husbands criteria we had already been shopping for two years and when I said this at Vara I stopped to ask and I should have ran away when no one knew much about its status but sold it to us anyway With Subaru I will be enjoying my vehicle for life with peace of mind and will always enjoy my visits for service because you listen, heard, treated us fair, honest, allowed us to buy and pay for exactly what we wanted & even delivered to our home same day in the evening 🥰 Vara Chevrolet difficult trying to find a sales person, they seemingly didn’t want to be bothered, kept disappearing, knew little about vehicle with the exception of car fax, shopped for financing prematurely because the vehicle wasn’t theirs yet to put in a finance contract, we had to pick it up & it was dirty, low on fuel, missing items promised when tags arrived but tags never came, service coupon that did arrive were expired before we even signed contract, recognized our phone numbers and when we called they wouldn’t answer or without saying hello they would hang up, They backed themselves into an illegal corner and made us feel like buying a car from them was a violation against them: Windshield leaked and upon replacing it the white paint on body of truck had black sticky glue grease every where even inside on dash and car was returned to us filthy and once again with expired temp tags causing my husband the risk of getting ticketed and for ing him to go out of his way yet again 1 extra hour of a commute each time Subaru has always offered to bring my car to my home and trade it for you loaner as a convenience Conclusion Subaru needs to build a standard work truck, single cab, 8’ bed More
