We lost the old Subaru shortly after 200k. I had been looking for a while, including at another Honda dealer that seemed crowded, a little rushed, and a 30-minute wait for a test drive on the I had been looking for a while, including at another Honda dealer that seemed crowded, a little rushed, and a 30-minute wait for a test drive on the package *below* the CR-V hybrid sport I was considering. Wasn’t ready to invest in the wait at that point. No offense to a busy store 😺! Long story short, a sad beloved Subaru breakdown sped up the process, and on a Sunday I drove out to Vista to give Norm Reeves Honda a try. Why? My wife’s dad’s name was Norm 😸! And Vista seemed an easier drive than Carlsbad on a nice beach day. Easy drive, walked up, was greeted at the door, and my guy Nestor sized up what I needed with a few questions. Spacious store, a fleet of inventory, no waiting. Five minutes later, I was test driving my first hybrid: the sport package I had researched, a color sort of like what I pictured, and all I needed to know about the display, gears, etc. Still, it had a fancy trim package that was probably going to put it well past our price point or whatever. Nope! Not fifteen minutes into talking it through with Nestor (?) and him checking with a manager. I won’t claim to be some big haggler. But the whole discussion was respectful and honest and clear. The outcome was that the very car I test drove, supposedly the ideal version of the actual car I was going to buy, was bumping up against the top of our range, but doable, especially for the specific trim, only 6 miles, and a dream test drive. Three hours later, 14% below the sticker price, taxes, title, warranty, etc., this pearly white CR-V hybrid has me riding high, with much clearer views of the road, intuitive AC and Bluetooth phone connection and actual knobs, solid pickup, perfect cargo for our camping needs, and so far 35+ mpg on the freeway. All wins!! And honestly, I’m not sure I would have jumped at this car so easily but for the sense that these folks knew what they were doing in an atmosphere that was friendly, confident, and efficient. A brief wait at the finance desk was understandable: two nice families before us were getting their final paperwork done. Weird observation, maybe, but I got to watch the finance person walk through the process twice through the glass walls. So courteous and engaging while handling those documents like the pro that he clearly is. Love my new car, and we’re starting with bonus energy for driving away with a totally positive experience from Norm Reeves! More

SOLD! After a painful 96 hours of car shopping I have been in person to 3 dealerships now and been on the phone with about a dozen in a 150 mile radius search. Although, I am still not ready to buy a car just yet but I am 100% convinced when I do, IT WILL BE WITH NORM REEVES HONDA VISTA THAT I DO! Before going there today I was ready to pull out my hair with all the bait and switching tactics I have experienced with the other dealers. My husband and I were ready to give up on this car shopping journey all together for another month maybe even another year with how stressful it has been. LEAVING NORM REEVES TODAY I CAN BREATHE. Based on my experience I know I am going to buy the right car for my family this weekend after we talk over the options and it will be a decision that we want without pressure. For the reasons as follows: 1. THEY HAD NO HIDDEN AGENDA! I am not sure if new or used is the best choice for my family, I am back and forth enough to cause whiplash, each time I wanted to change gears and compare the other options they were quick to adjust and respond with the details I was asking without trying to push me one way or the other based on what they needed to sell that day. 2. THEIR PRICES WERE COMPETITIVE: They were upfront about their pricing; they gave me the lowest MSRP discount right away (WITHIN MINUTES I didn’t have to wait around like the others) and I didn’t have to do the whole, “lets show you the beautiful car to convince you/distract you from the bottom line and back and forth” I had to do with other dealers. 3. THEIR PRICE SHEETS WERE CLEAR: I asked for both trims I was considering THERE WASN’T ANY FUDGING OF THE NUMBERS TO MAKE IT LOOK GOOD/CONFUSING like the other dealer’s and there were no HIDDEN DEALER ADD-ONS others tried to play me into. 4. THEY WERE FLEXIBLE: Because they are part of a larger group they could get me the colors I wanted I didn’t have to be flexible on what I wanted, they could literally find me the colors I wanted fast and have it delivered within hours. I have spent a lot of times on various search engines like auto trader and each dealer’s website trying to find the colors I want it was SO MUCH EASIER WITH NORM REEVES VISTA. Also, given I needed some time to think about it at least in my case THEIR DEAL DIDN’T EXPIRE AT THE END OF THE DAY and they didn’t do the whole pressure you into you got to move now on this or it won’t be here tomorrow tactic since they have access to dealer trade with so many dealerships they actually have a higher chance of finding me what I want no matter what day I decide! 5. THERE WAS NO HIDDEN RECIPROCITY TACTICS: This is a big one for me that others may not understand; I personally respond to guilt tactics so I can see when someone is setting me up to feel reciprocity. The definition of Reciprocity should be car dealerships as all dealers do this, small things like putting a VIP tag on a car that I am coming to see with my name on it, or the manager saying things like I’m here on my day off to make sure we get you the car you need, or I put this car off to the side so others wouldn’t see it. Whether it is true or not it’s all part of the game I don’t want to play. 1. I DID NOT FEEL RUSHED: This one is huge, as like I said I made it clear I wasn’t going to buy a car right away, I didn’t feel they were rushing me they made sure I had all my questions answered in a very relaxed state. 6. THEIR CULTURE WAS CLEAR: They highlighted several times their core values are posted on every door as a regular reminder to live up to them. They really only needed to say this once because it was very clear to me as a customer they valued and respected me as customer and this really was their core values/culture as a business.
