To create the proper context, let me start our story at the very beginning. About a year ago, we first met Alex when my wife was considering a new CRV. Unfortunately, we opted for a Toyota RAV4 so our interaction with Alex was limited to a test drive and some E-mail exchanges. However, Alex left a positive impression with us and I knew we'd be talking again once it was time for us to replace my aging Honda Pilot. Well, that time came in early June 2018 with the 0.9%APR Offer from American Honda Finance. I contacted Alex again and scheduled a test drive for a 2018 Pilot Touring AWD. I explained to him that I would be contacting other dealers via E-mail/TXT and begin negotiations. I expected to make a purchase in 1 to 2 weeks. Alex provided me an excellent price on our first exchange. This made it very difficult for me to seriously consider the prices offered by the dozen or so other Honda dealers I had contacted. After a week and many, many E-mail/TXT exchanges with everyone else, (2) other dealers came close on price. Once we started negotiating the value on my trade-in, Irvine clearly came out on top. Their offer was higher than other Honda dealer and surprisingly, even Carmax. In the end, Irvine beat their closest competition by more than $1,000 considering both price and trade-in value. During the process, Alex continued to answer ever question and once the deal was nearly done, he did a dealer exchange to secure my color choice. Alex facilitated every step and in the end, even came into the dealership on his day off to delivery us the vehicle. Alex earned this 5-Star Rating. [On a side note, I was disappointed that the finance department was so understaffed on the day of our pickup. There was only (1) Finance Manager available on that Friday evening. We were pre-approved through American Honda Finance and the post-deal paperwork still took well over 2-hours. Most of that time was spent waiting to get into the FM's office. The paperwork itself went reasonably quickly. I informed the FM that I would be mentioning this in my review. In several past vehicle purchases at various dealerships, I have been able to finish the paperwork and leave with the new vehicle in less than 1-hour.] More
