I found a truck I liked online, advertised with a free lifetime power train warranty, (lie #1, I was told during the buying process they just realized it didn’t qualify) and emailed about it to begin the process. After speaking to the sales guy on Monday February 20th and telling him I was planning on putting $5,000 down, we got things started and over the next few days I sent all the documents he requested and he said he was sending them to the bank. On Wednesday he called and told me the bank was requiring an additional $2,000 down bumping it up to $7,000 (lie #2). So I agreed to that. Then, I was told the bank wanted me to pay my car off first so I didn’t have 2 open auto loans, so that Thursday I paid it off and sent proof of the payment. They told me the bank wanted the payment to process first, so I waited til it processed later that day, and sent proof of that afterwards. While we were waiting for the payment to process, I wired my $7,000 down payment to them so they could pull the truck off the lot and website. Then after sending proof the payment processed, I was told I needed something showing a $0 balance with my vin and account number, so I sent that on Friday. The whole time I was being told the bank liked everything, (lie #3) they just wanted one more thing. Then one more thing. After all that, I was told I needed a formal letter from the lender saying it was paid off. I called the bank that’s financing the new truck and they said they haven’t received any documents from the dealership, so I asked the sales guy about it and he said they don’t actually send any documents until I sign the papers. After getting frustrated by Saturday I told them to send me my $7,000 back and they immediately told me to come get the truck and they’ll work the letter issue out with the bank. So I drive to the lot to start the paperwork, was asked by Justin King, the finance guy, if I wanted to purchase a warranty and I said not unless they’re willing to come down on the price so my payments don’t go up, to which he acted like was ridiculous. So I started signing the paperwork and noticed the price they were selling the truck to me for was $2,000 more than the truck was listed for (what a coincidence!). So I made him fix that, and that brought my payments down enough that I entertained the idea of the warranty. But I told him I was planning on doing work to the truck (lifting it and putting bigger tires on) and that it would probably void the warranty. He assured me it wouldn’t, (lie #4) so I agreed to the warranty. I never was given the full documents on the warranty so I requested a copy about a week after getting the truck. After reading the terms I noticed I would void the warranty so I emailed and requested to cancel the warranty and receive a refund. This was the beginning of getting ignored by them. Up until this point they were very responsive, dishonest but responsive. Once I requested to cancel my warranty it was like pulling teeth to get them to do anything. My first request was on 3/7/2023 and it took until 3/14/2023 to actually get them to finish and submit the cancellation form. The contract gives them 31 days to provide a refund so I emailed to request an update on the refund about 4 times over that 31 day period and never got an answer. I waited until 4/12/2023 and contacted Justin again and he told me accounting said they sent the check to me on 3/8/2023 and that I should get it any day (lie #5). I told him that’s impossible because he was still ignoring me on 3/8/2023 and it never got submitted until 3/14/2023, but the warranty company backdated the cancellation to 3/8/2023. After talking to Renee in accounting I learned that not only did he NOT actually talk to her about it, he didn’t even send the paperwork to her until 4/10/2023. More
