I am a first time car buyer & I bought my very first car used from this dealership. The experience was unpleasant. I found the vehicle on their website and thought it was a good deal so I called the dealers used from this dealership. The experience was unpleasant. I found the vehicle on their website and thought it was a good deal so I called the dealership to come in and see the vehicle. I confirmed that it had passed inspection over the phone. After arriving and looking at the car and confirming with the salesmen once more that it had undergone and passed inspection I test drove the vehicle and visually inspected it as best as I could before calling my parents to get their opinion. After speaking with my parents the salesman (who knew I was a first time car buyer) began to get visibly upset. I had some reservations so I asked the salesperson: “I want to take the car to get an independent inspection, what’s the return policy on the vehicle in case there’s an issue?”. This is when I should have walked away. He fired back with a raised voice: “There is no return policy, we do inspections on site, nothing is wrong with the car, this is a large dealership we would never risk our reputation, I would never risk MY reputation, If something were to happen we are so nice we would have it fixed”. After this I spoke with my parents again and they recommended that I buy the car and take it to get inspected afterward and if anything turned up on the inspection I could return and get it fixed. So I bought the car and set up an MPI at a different Nissan dealership. After driving the car consistently I KNEW that something was wrong with it and after the MPI my concerns were confirmed. The car failed at several points of the inspection & several safety issues were brought to my attention. In total the car required close to $3000 in repairs. The guy who conducted the MPI expressed his concern and let me know that the car should never have been sold with the issues that it had and that these issues would have been caught if an inspection was truly completed. I was disappointed and immediately emailed the dealership to set up a time to have these issues resolved. My salesperson replied, “I am a salesperson contact our service department.” So I called the Service department and explained the issue. To my surprise an associate in the service department recalled the vehicle, pulled up the information on the inspection on the car and said “We informed the sales department of these issues and they declined to have them fixed prior to sale” I was in shock after hearing that. I emailed my salesperson back (I still have not received a response) and I also called the dealership. If this dealership will lie about inspections they will lie to you about price & car history. If they will lie to sell a car that failed an inspection they WILL sell you a lemon. They will sell you a vehicle that has not met safety standards (like they did to me). For your own physical & financial health I recommend that you do not buy any vehicle from a Sutherlin dealership. Not new and not used. Actions reflect culture in a company and the lying and avoidance that I have encountered seems to be a part of the culture in this family of dealerships. It took 2 weeks to get someone from the dealership to return my calls and even longer to get my car on the schedule to have *some* of the issues fixed (They never fixed all of the issues. I had to budget for repairs even though they admittedly sold me a vehicle based on the lie that it passed inspection). Tip for anyone buying a used vehicle ALWAYS insist on doing a PPI prior to buying the vehicle and make sure they give you a physical copy of their in-house inspection results. I do not recommend that anyone shop here, however, best of luck to anyone who decides to roll the dice at this dealership. More
