In the beginning of June this year, I took my car to Nissan of Fort Pierce for service. My car would not go over 15 mph. They checked the car and said the problem was a timing solenoid on Bank 1. They t Nissan of Fort Pierce for service. My car would not go over 15 mph. They checked the car and said the problem was a timing solenoid on Bank 1. They told me it would cost about $1500 to replace. I consented as they are the experts to let them service the vehicle. They also said that there was some carbon build up, and I should have them take care of that as well while they were doing that service, again, I agreed. That initial repair came out to $1979.27, which I paid in full. The car drove normally on the drive from the dealership to my house, which is about 2 miles away. A few days after getting the car back, I was on my way to take my children to the Boys and Girls Club. During the drive, I was in the midst of a crossing an intersection with a blind spot, when the check engine light came back on and the car stopped accelerating. My children, age 10, 9 and two years old were in the car. Imagine the fear of everyone in the car, as a car comes flying around the blind spot and had to slam on brakes to avoid hitting us. Naturally, I drove the car back to the dealership. They proceeded to tell me that the timing solenoid on bank 2 was now bad. Reluctantly, I agreed to replace it. I ended having to shell out $1156.50 for that service. After the service was done, I drove the car home. A few days later, while driving to work, I stopped at a red light. When when the light turned green, a check engine light came on yet again, and the car would not accelerate past 15 miles an hour. For the third time the car was back at the dealer with the same problem. It stayed with them for about one week. I am not sure what was done during that time. I went to pick it up and was told that it might be a timing chain tensioner, that may be worn out, but hard to know until the mechanic got in there and that service would be approximately an additional $5000. Considering that I already paid these people $3135.77, and my car was in no better condition than the first day I took it to them. I declined the service and drove the car home at 15MPH. I’ll also add that I was told to trade it in by the manager on duty that day. I drove the car home and parked on my driveway. I received a text from the dealership asking me to write a review. So I wrote an honest review outlining my experience. I was quickly contacted by the dealership. They told me to bring the vehicle back, they would look at it further and “take care of it“, in an effort for me to take my review down. I drove the car back to the service area for the fourth time. Again, the car would only go about 15MPH because it goes into a safe mode, which the dealership was fully aware of. One of the technicians attached his diagnostic computer to the car and took the car off of safe mode (they deleted the check engine light code). The service tech started the car. It ran for a few seconds, before the engine made a very loud metal grinding and banging noise and shut down. Obviously, they had just blown the engine completely. I had no choice but to leave the vehicle there. A week later, they called me and said, the car jump timing and that ruined the engine. They then offered to replace the engine, with a used engine for about $13,000 depending on the mileage. And them “taking care of it”, would be $2000 off the cost of service. I am now $3135.77 in the hole on my credit card, for which the bill has already started coming, and my car is sitting at the dealership with a motor that they blew up. Thank you Nissan of Fort Pierce for “taking care it”, which I guess was taking my money for a problem that was never really fixed, and trying to get another thirteen grand out of me. More
