Bottom Line Up Front: Pretentious is the best way I can describe the employees and overall experience here. I was pre-approved by my credit union for a car loan, the loan was input into Credit Union Direct describe the employees and overall experience here. I was pre-approved by my credit union for a car loan, the loan was input into Credit Union Direct Lending (CUDL) which Newport Lexus refused to honor claiming they couldn’t find it in the system. They pushed me to give them authorization to pull my credit report. When I refused, they forced me to get a cashier’s check from my credit union instead of doing the electronic wire transfer through CUDL. Refused to show me the vehicle inspection report, only offered the CarFax. Sold me the vehicle for a higher than advertised price and when confronted the next day the Used Car Sales Manager tried to fault a third party and me for not bringing it to their attention. That’s not how the law works; it’s their responsibility to ensure their sale price is accurate not the consumer. I had a mechanical failure the same night I bought the vehicle from Newport Lexus and ended up performing multiple repairs over the course of the following two weeks. (Skip to the bottom for bullet points.) Parties of Interest: Salesperson, Somayeh "Sarah" Z., was kind and welcoming. Overall, I don't believe Sarah to be as uneducated about vehicle sales as she portrays. I believe it is a sales tactic to avoid answering direct questions. I’d rate her service as a 3 of 5. Adam A. “supervisor” attempted to deceptively have me sign a credit report authorization form along with Sarah. Rating: 3 of 5. Purchase Experience: I have been a loyal BMW customer for the past 19 years and this was my first experience with a Lexus dealership. They treated me poorly because I wanted to buy a Ford Explorer that they had on their lot rather than a new Lexus. Even when I came back to get a promised upholstery repair, their service advisors ignored me and even told me they thought I was dropping off a rental car, so they attempted to bypass me. An older gentleman in a Lexus SUV in the service line pointed out to the advisor I was waiting first. Rating 2 of 5. Technical Failures: SUV needed a battery - failed the same night I bought it. Supplied only 1 key, for the second key I had to be purchase it through a locksmith. (Not uncommon on used car purchases) SUV needed front and rear brakes with rotors - replaced 2 weeks after purchase due to rotor runout (warping) causing a heavy pulsation when braking at freeway speeds. Upholstery Repair - dealer lived up to this promise, but not the way they verbally stated the repair would occur. Instead of replacing the material as they initially claimed, they did a blind stitch repair to close the tear. This works, however, it leaves other parts looking rippled. Rating 1 of 5. Failures: Poor customer service demeanor. Combative rather than appreciative of my wanting to do business with their dealership. Bad mechanical inspection. Bad faith price negotiation. Sold at a higher than advertised price (refunded only after objection) in violation of state law. Attempted to run my credit by descriptive measures and no permissible use. This is a very nice dealership, they should have a sign showing when you come back to pick up your car you go around the building to get in line to pick up your car when somebody’s dropping you off, so you showing when you come back to pick up your car you go around the building to get in line to pick up your car when somebody’s dropping you off, so you don’t have to pull in the service and make a U-turn.
