Chris, I can tell you that my husband and I tried to do our homework as best we could before we visited the dealership this past Saturday. I was in touch with Megan Vrooman, who works at Nemer but is not a sales associate. I gave her ample information to run my husband's credit, run a background check on our van, etc., before we came down because we live over an hour from the dealership. I wanted to make sure that purchasing the Passat was something that was do-able on our part. She checked with her manager who knew the in's and out's of our situation and assured me that this was definitely obtainable for us. We went down on Saturday and met with Michael Greene, a sales associate at Nemer. We told him up front at our meeting what our payment monthly had to be, in what particular range it had to be in. We were trading in our van for the Passat for a more reasonable payment. After much dickering (which is annoying in and of itself) we finally got Steve Cannon to agree to the payment that we wanted, $480. We understand that when it goes through the bank, there might be slight adjustment to the payment, a little higher or lower. We weren't able to meet with the financial manager that day because we were told there were a lot of people ahead of us and we could finish this up Monday, April 26th (last night). We were under the impression that everything was all set from the financial standpoint. I had spoken with Michael Greene during the day several times. I asked him if he could give me some information on the financing and he told me that he could not disclose it over the phone, but "we would be very happy." Those were his words exactly. My husband got there at 6:30 promptly, after working ALL day and driving over an hour to get there. Sitting down with Patrick Howard, they started signing half of the paperwork when he pointed out that our payments were going to be $542, a good $60 dollars over where we wanted to be at MAXIMUM. We really resented that they weren't in touch with us during the day to let us know about this and they tried to pull a 'fast one' on us. We had the car at home with us over the weekend and we really feel like they knew that this was going to happen and that we would be so in love with the car that we would have agreed to the higher price. No way. Not to mention, my husband said he didn't get a very good reception from them when he was outwardly upset with what had taken place. A deal is a deal. Unfortunately, after this experience, we would be very hesitant to recommend this dealership to anyone. Please call us if you need further information or would like to speak to us. 518 686 5419.
