My associate was pleasant to work with, however I was disgustingly overcharged for labor. To change a trunk tail light, which takes all of 5 minutes, the labor was $50, and if I had approved it, replacin disgustingly overcharged for labor. To change a trunk tail light, which takes all of 5 minutes, the labor was $50, and if I had approved it, replacing the cabin air filter would have been another $50 labor charge for 2 minutes of work (I bought a higher quality filter, replaced it myself, and still saved $20 . The other insane overcharge was replacing my wheel bearings (both front ones). This is a task that takes a skilled technician an hour for each side and 2 for a less experienced one. Let's call that 4 hours of work total to be conservative. The labor on that was a little over $350. It doesn't take a mathematician to see that's almost $90/hr and I know for a fact that they aren't getting paid that much. The average technician makes around the low $30s. In an act of good faith, I was given 10% off my total bill, which was $130, and although that's nice, when you consider the detritivorous up-charge on labor which is well over that amount, its' sentiment is lost on me. My service rep that I had been dealing with was out the day I went to pay for the repairs and when I brought up the price he said "he already gave you 10%" rather rudely. It's an abhorrent practice for the dealership to hide the price disparity in labor cost, not to mention pursuing this practice in the midst of a pandemic. More
