When I decided that I needed to part with my old car, I truly had no idea what car I wanted, not even what brand. My Wife and I bought a 2021 Hyundai Kona in March of 2021. We were very pleased with the service and price. However, after 6 days of having the vehicle we noticed the brakes were not braking properly. W 2021. We were very pleased with the service and price. However, after 6 days of having the vehicle we noticed the brakes were not braking properly. We took it into service and it turned out that the entire braking system needed to be changed. Please note this was a brand new 0 mile vehicle. We were not satisfied and reached out multiple times to the salesman and several managers. After almost 2 weeks we finally got a hold of someone. After a lot of back and forth they agreed to replace the Kona with another Kona, which was great. However, it took us xxxx and high water to get a hold of someone. Fast forward to November 2022. The car only has 36,000 and we noticed a weird sound coming from the engine. The day before bringing or more so TOWED into the service department. The car kept shutting off on my wife on her way home from work. Leaving her broken down in the middle of the road. After finally bringing in the vehicle to the service department. We had to wait 2 days before getting an answer as to what was going on with the car. Mind you. We have been bringing in the vehicle for its regular maintenance and keeping it up to date on everything. After waiting two days. The service advisor told us the vehicle needed a new engine. Again, 2nd car and again a full replacement of something. I was told they need to contact Hyundai to get an approval for a new engine. Which will take 24 to 48 hours. At this point we do not know when we will get our car back, and if at all. We jumped online and began reading forums about the latest Hyundai engine issues, and as it turns out our engine has the same problem as discussed in these forums. We have now gone 24 hours trying to contact the General Manager and to no avail we have yet to get a phone call back from anyone. Also, they do not have any loaners available to accommodate us for this inconvenience. We are just told to rent a vehicle and Hyundai will reimburse us for the rental. Turns out Hyundai will only reimburse $38 per day. A rental car these days is nearly $100 per day. A new engine sounds great. However, this goes on the carfax report that new engine was out in, and this will definitely bring down the value of our car when we would want to go trade it in. This is a fact and not just an opinion. I would recommend anyone to do your research first before going to any of these dealerships. More
