I had inquired about a used totoya that was listed on their web site. I was told by email that the car was available and also spoke with a saleslady the next day named Jessica and she said the car was av their web site. First had to fill out 6 references and she wanted me to fill out a credie app but I told her that I was not going to fill out a credit app unless I liked the car. To make a long story short I never even saw the car. She kept making excuses about the keys being locked up somewhere and she brouhgt a another car for me to drive that I had not even asked her about! I drove the car to satisfy her but told her I wasn't interested in it. At first she said the car was being detailed for me to drive then said the keys were not available. I left and went and bought a car from another dealer the same day. They lost a sale but guess it doesn't matter to them!! More

Went to purchase a used car. Rush process by sales, provided wrong warrenty info..they tried to cheat me out of 6k on my trade. They overpriced the vehicle I was looking at by 5k. The vehicle was to have a couple scratches fixed but after 2 weeks and several visits they ha e yet to get the scratched car done (luckily I got it in writing)..so they offered to pay me a months loan payment but when I went to get the check they did not have it (surprise)..this dealership is a train wreck! I was dumb enough to purchase (or desperate) and got suckered! Please save yourself the regret of spending your money..Im stuck with the mess and a big loan on a car I don't even have.. After an extensive email back-and-forth with the internet manager, concerning specifics of a 2009 Hyundai Accent (why the car was listed at approx. $1500 above blue book, for example), I drove 40 miles from manager, concerning specifics of a 2009 Hyundai Accent (why the car was listed at approx. $1500 above blue book, for example), I drove 40 miles from my home to the dealership to see the vehicle. (The extensive back and forth was specifically to determine if the vehicle was worth this trip when gas is $4 a gallon...) When we arrived, we were met by the internet manager, who brought the car around for us to inspect. First of all, the manager had mentioned over email that one reason the asking price was higher than blue book was because "the 'ESTIMATED' price" doesn't include other things the dealer does to prep the car, like minor repairs and an "extensive" inspection process. I don't know why I did this, but while the manager was retrieving her cell phone, I asked my girlfriend to get in the car and try the turn signals, lights, and brakes to see that all the lights worked. Turns out, the brake lights did not work, NOT AT ALL. Furthermore, the car had not been cleaned or prepped prior to our visit; the outside was full of scratches and had a pretty hefty ding in the driver's side between the door frame and the rear of the car. I pointed the brake light situation out to the manager, who seemed nonplussed by the malfunction at first and still wanted to let us test drive it. I politely refused, and CJ went to get the service supervisor, who had to verify what my girlfriend, the manager, and I had clearly determined: the brake lights, despite whatever extensive inspection process the dealership put the car through, were not functional. We drove around for another two hours waiting for the Toyota of Union City service department to try and fix the brake lights so we could test the car, but by 6 p.m. we hadn't heard anything from the dealership. My girlfriend called them, the manager told us the car hadn't been fixed yet, so we drove 40 miles back home having not had a chance to test drive the SEVERELY overpriced car. The car had an asking price of $9998; blue book "excellent" value was listed at approx. $9300, and this vehicle--as evidenced by the scratched up exterior and the clearly nonfunctioning brake lights--was average (blue book value approx. $7200) at best. "Hey, Thanks for the chuckle on dealerrater.com " Ladies and Gentlemen, This story started about a week ago when I emailed Toyota of Union City about a used 2011 Toyota Corolla. I'd found a car that I was looking to purchase online and got connected with one of their "reputable and experienced" internet managers to help set up the sale. Craig Chavers. After a few emails back and forth, I believed that we had come to a consensus about the cost of the car and what I was willing to pay for it. However, I should have known that something was off just from the emails that'd we'd exchanged. I'd email him questions about the car like "what kind of oil does it use" and "do you work with customers on insurance rates" and it would literally take him 2-3 days to even get back to me. And when he did email me back it would be things like "Are you still interested in the car?" and he would never answer the questions that I'd ask! I'd call him and leave voicemails and the same thing - he'd email me back the next day (not even a phone call) and again my questions would be unanswered. Finally, we got in contact with one another and I agreed to come to the dealership to hopefully buy the car. After some test drives and a bit of going back and forth I reiterated my offer that I had sent over email. He says he can't do that...blah blah blah. As I'm about to go, the floor manager (who was very nice) comes out, talks to me for a bit then leaves. I start to reconsider. I tell Craig to figure out what the FINAL COST OF THE CAR would be with EVERYTHING included (taxes, fees, EVERYTHING). He tells me $12,463. I tell him that if he can bring it to an even figure we have a deal. He goes in, comes back out, gives me a nod and I think 'Yeah, we have a deal!' Hmm, not quite. Dealer told me that my OTD price would be $12,000 flat. After setting up my insurance and waiting for EIGHT hours in this dealership I find out that I have been scammed hardcore. Once I get to the financing office (after about waiting for 4+ hours), I find out that my actual OTD price is $12,000 financed PLUS the $5,000 cash down payment that I said that I was going to put down when I first entered. As the financing officer is showing me the breakdown of what I supposedly agreed to (all the while she's looking as if I'm clearly out of my mind for thinking that I was getting this car for $12,000) I'm thinking 'Are you kidding me?' I asked this dealer numerous times 'so, $12,000 is the final price correct?' 'So after I write the $5,000 check from my account, I will only have to finance $7,000 right?'. All of which I was told yes. And once I've wasted eight hours in your office, you tell me no, of course that's not what was agreed upon. This dealer (who has mysteriously disappeared and only appears after being called over the loud speaker twice) looks at me as if I too am the one who's crazy. He's like "No, I told you that the OTD price would be the $12,000 FINANCED. And you still need to pay the $5,000 down payment in addition as well." Not only that, he tells me he told me this MORE than once. A bold-faced lie. Had he said this to me I would’ve left hours ago. So, all in all, the OTD price is actually $17,000? First of all, he never said anything remotely like that. Hours before I had looked him in the eye and asked him, "Ok, so $12,000 would be the final price of the car" he said "yes." While I was setting up my insurance I jokingly asked, “So, the price of the car is still $12,000 right?” He smiled, looked at me and said ‘yes’ once again. Since when did the OTD price exclude down payments and simply include financing? I'm so pissed when I think of the way that I was played. As I'm sitting there with three people trying to explain to me the error of my ways I'm thinking back to how he was trying to sell me the same car for 16,000 + tax and fees when I first got there. After totaling everything the cost would have been around $17,500, which is why I got up and was ready to leave at first. My initial offer was to pay $11,000 dollars in total for the car with a $5,000 down payment and with all fees and taxes included. And that would leave me with a $6,000 loan. Why would he believe that I would agree to pay something that’s $6,000 higher than what I initially offered and $500 cheaper than what they were asking for?! I can honestly say that because I walked in there alone as a young female, they thought that I'd be so enamored with the thought of getting this car that I'd ignore the fact that they tacked on an extra $5,000 to the cost. They seriously hoped that I'd just sign whatever was put in front of me. I don't like liars, I don't like cheats, and I don't like dealers who waste hours of my time thinking that they can pull one over on me. I can't say that the dealership itself is inherently bad, however this dealer was the worst. I absolutely would never come back here. Not when there are people like Craig working to put them out of business. And if this is how Toyota of Union City operates please drive on down the street and find yourself another dealership that's more reputable. I guarantee that you'll find one. They literally wasted hours of my time giving me the run around. I've carefully looked through the emails that I've exchanged between this dealer and I, I've talked to people who own cars and have bought cars, and I've scoured the internet to see if I've been mistaken about OTD pricing. And I am absolutely confident that it simply was a not a "harmless" misunderstanding on their part. They intentionally set out to get me and I hope others will beware before being trapped by them. Went in to see about purchasing a used vehicle that I discovered online. Mr. Crawley and Mr. Foster were upfront with me and explained my situation to me completely. Toyota of Union City is the best dealership that I have ever dealt with. The staff is friendly and very welcoming. They were really friendly and tried to find a car for us. The process was really slow. We spent at least almost 3 hours with the process without any drink or water. The coffee machine was empty. The worst part was that we could not register our vehicle because the dealer have not mailed us any document to register (as promised). How can I drive a car without valid tag? We called the dealer all day yesterday, and we tried many times in the next day, and got a answering mechine. Then, we finally talked with one of staffs and told us that the document would be late. Driving with invalid car document may give me a bad driving history or a police record, even the dealer would take care the police ticket. I do not expect much with the service after sale. I do not recommend this dealer to anyone. More
