This is the second Lexus I have purchased from Mungenast Lexus, and the buying experience was extremely enjoyable. Having called Nate Hopson at the suggestion of a Gary Halls, a neighbor of mine, I found N Lexus, and the buying experience was extremely enjoyable. Having called Nate Hopson at the suggestion of a Gary Halls, a neighbor of mine, I found Nate to be completely professional, courteous, and very knowledgeable. He had the pre-owned car ready for us to look at and drive, patiently answered our many questions, and then worked with us in a non-pressured way to structure the deal. Other dealerships rely on evasive negotiating tactics, questionable claims about their cars, and pitting buyers against each other. The Mungenast team, in sharp contrast, treats customers like partners and truly works in a way that everyone is satisfied when the process in completed. We also met with Mike Baek and Afton Fendelman as we made plans to take the car. Mike is by far the most professional financial manager I have ever met in an auto dealership, and you are fortunate to have him on board. He too was the complete professional as he carefully explained the financial arrangements, and I really enjoyed working with him. Afton carefully went through the intricacies of the LS460, taking extra time to make sure we understood the amazing features of this car, and offered to extend that assistance any time we needed. She too is a delight to work with and represents your company very well. I'm sure you know that most of us consumers do not have a very high opinion of auto dealerships. So many of them fully earn the reputation they carry by using high-pressured sales tactics, making questionable service recommendations, and in general treating customers like peons. Your company is completely different with its professional staff, terrific new building, and super-friendly environment. I congratulate you all for being at the top of the list and encourage you to continue offering the fine level of overall service for which you are known. More

On Saturday, my daughters and I were shopping for my next SUV. I now have an RX300 and will soon be looking for a new one. Although I love my RX, I thought I should look at other luxury SUVs before going to see our favorite salesman Nate. I shopped Cadillac and then BMW, Suntrup on Manchester. My experience there was unbelievable. We were ignored during our 15 minute stay. In fact, a salesman literally STROLLED past us twice. (I suppose he thought we might shoplift a car!)He did not even say hello. When we decided to leave, my daughter asked the receptionist to see the sales manager; Her response was "WHY?" Then when the sales manager was summoned, his response was "I don't need to be lectured." We no longer wondered why Suntrup has so much inventory that there are nearly no places for customers to park! As we drove up to Mungenast, I told my daughters to expect an entirely different experience; my husband and I own two Munganast Lexuses already. First of all, the building is beautiful. Congratulations! Second, we were greeted the moment we opened the door by a love young woman who asked how to help, called for Nate, and offered us refreshments. Then, while we waited a few minutes for Nate who was with another customer, she answered some questions and listened to our diatribe about Suntrup. She was lovely. Nate came promptly, knew who I was, remembered details about our family, and our cars. He is absolutely wonderful, took us for a test drive, driving first to allay my fears, and then guided my driving experience to show me the features of the new model. He is our salesman! We can't praise his professionalism and his warmth enough. When we returned, Nate introduced us to his manager who also was very personable and understood our awful experience with Suntrup. We are loyal Mungenast customers because of the quality of the care and respect that your employees show customers. Your building itself demonstrates that you want us feel special and appreciated. The service center waiting areas are amazing!Our first purchase was in 2002; we have NEVER had a complaint or been disappointed. Thank you. More

Becky was quick to deal with any issue or concern we had during the sales process. But what I appreciated most was her interest in taking care of us. Making sure we were getting the right car, with the right features at a reasonable price was clearly her number one priority. I really approached the vehicle delivery process - an in-depth presentation of the cars features and helping me set-up personalized settings before leaving the dealership. Thanks Afton! Pat & Greg Comments: During the week of Oct. 10, Pat & Greg Comments: During the week of Oct. 10, 2011, we sent emails to all Lexus dealers from St. Louis to Chicago asking for a price quote on Pat & Greg Comments: During the week of Oct. 10, 2011, we sent emails to all Lexus dealers from St. Louis to Chicago asking for a price quote on a white 2012 Lexus LS460L AWD. They all responded that week, but Alex Grant, with Lexus of St. Louis, was the only one to email a quote to us of a price of over $3000 under the MSRP. In that same email, he assured us a car with the color combination we were looking for would arrive at their dealership in late October, possibly sooner if he put a rush on it. We looked Lexus of St. Louis up on DealerRater and were impressed with all the positive comments. We drove a round trip of 250 miles, from our home in Springfield, IL, the following Saturday to meet Alex personally and test drive the year and model of car we wanted. We found the dealership to have the amenities and friendly staff we have come to expect with a typical Lexus dealership. After meeting Alex, we explained that the year and model of Lexus was non-negotiable and that it had to have less than 20 miles on the odometer. Alex assured us that he would keep in close communication with us through the delivery of our car. We test drove their demo car and then it was back to Alex’s office and the beginning of what was to be the worst experience of purchasing a new car in 45 years of car buying. Alex offered us a 2011 for $6000 less than a 2012, we reminded him that we wanted a 2012. He then tried to talk us out of the air suspension option we wanted. He then mentioned that it might not be until early November until they would take delivery of the car. He asked for $1000 down and we wrote out a check for that amount. We were disappointed since we were told late October or sooner in Alex’s email. We were then introduced to Steve Hoenig, the finance manager. Steve wanted 20% down ($17,000) when the car came in to give us a possible interest rate of 2.9%. Without the 20% down, the interest rate would be 3.9%. Since we didn’t see Alex around his office or in the showroom, we left. On the following Monday, we checked with our bank in Springfield to explore their new car interest rate. We were given a firm figure of $5000 down and 2.75%. We emailed Alex and made several phone calls before we got a copy of the window sticker he showed us in his office. We began to realize that once Alex closed the deal, his attitude toward us changed from very friendly to evasive, and making promises that he had no ability to deliver on. After several more phone calls and emails from us on the status of the car we ordered, Alex sent us an email on November 5 telling us Lexus stopped production on the model in white and that he “searched the country” and no one had a white Lexus like the one we ordered. He then mentioned a very iffy December delivery. We called Woodfield Lexus, the dealer we bought our present ES330 from as a new car 8 years ago. We were told they had our desired car in white with less than 20 miles on the odometer. We had emailed them at the same time we emailed all other dealers for a price quote, but lacking a firm quote and over 400 miles of driving, we had decided to go with Alex’s quote and a much shorter round trip. Big mistake! We got the car at Woodfield Lexus on November 8 for the same price Alex quoted, but with more options on it. We put a total of $1143 down using our Visa card, and financed the remainder of the purchase price of the car through Lexus at an interest rate of 2.75%. After a month of nervous aggravation with Alex, his lack of truthfulness and non-communication, we finally had our car after driving over 400 miles to get it. In addition, it required several requests to finally receive a refund of our $1000 down from the Sales Manager, Don Vannatta. For customer service between Alex and Steve, we rate them a one. For quality of work performed by Alex, Steve and Don we rate them a one. For friendliness after the paperwork was signed, we rate them a one. For overall experience after the initial contact, we rate them a one. For price, when we account for what our local bank and then Woodfield Lexus offered us, we rate them a one. More
