Hidden Fees, "Dealer Inspected" malfunctioning window I worked with Jim Coveliers at Muller Honda. First visited the dealer on Saturday 1/25/19 looking at a 2014 Honda Accord LSX with 105xxx miles. Test d I worked with Jim Coveliers at Muller Honda. First visited the dealer on Saturday 1/25/19 looking at a 2014 Honda Accord LSX with 105xxx miles. Test drove the vehicle and determined I wanted to move forward, I was assured the vehicle had been inspected and passed the dealer inspection process and that everything was functioning properly. The car was listed for $8,800, I offered $8,500, we shook hands and confirmed the deal at $8,500. Everything good so far. Being Saturday and closing early, Jim said I had to come back Monday to pick up the car and finalize the paperwork. Once I get home I quickly reviewed the paperwork I had received and noticed the sale price of the vehicle listed at $8,750, not the agreed upon $8,500. Fast forward to Monday, I ask Jim about the discrepancy in price and he said the extra $250 was a "dealer add-on" optional VIN etching service. This add-on was never once discussed and I never agreed to pay for it, I almost didn't notice it. After bringing it to Jim's attention, he had the fee removed. Overall this seemed like a dishonest sales tactic to me. Car is purchased now, I pull out the dealership lot and roll down the driver-side window to get some fresh air, I go to roll it back up some point in my drive home and the window motor is completely useless, the window wont roll up because it is so weak and ultimately the window rolls back down automatically. I contacted Jim right away about this and after a very short-ended conversation he said the best they could do was grease the window track. I contacted Jim once again via email and asked if their mechanic could simply diagnose the problem instead of lathering grease on, and I would pay to have it fixed properly, but this communication went unanswered. I assume this means they have no interest in helping me with the vehicle I purchased. Ultimately I should have tested the window however, when a dealership says a car has passed its inspection process and functions properly, I would assume something as basic as the window would work, apparently not when you go to Muller Honda and work with Jim Coveliers. More
