They stopped responding to messages after the first repair. When I picked up the vehicle it ran rough and had a check engine light on that they cleared. Turned out to be the throttle body that needed to be replaced. A month later I had to have a $5k repair (timing chain, Cam phasers, water pump). My “one owner” apparently had no maintenance over the life of the vehicle, which should have been caught in their inspection. Only thing they told me was they did the oil and brakes when they took in the truck and they have no liability. Mechanic told me the vehicle likely had no oil changes prior to them getting it. More
Experience purchasing a used car at Penske Dealership Workorder #1MIS891545 At the point of test drive/purchase, I asked about why the engine had a ticking noise and the interior cigarette Dealership Workorder #1MIS891545 At the point of test drive/purchase, I asked about why the engine had a ticking noise and the interior cigarette smell. I asked for the inspection document as I was told everything passed. I was again told, there were no engine issues, it was a non-smoker, tires were good (I could see that) and brakes were >6mm so it all seemed fine. The sales team asked the technician to again review the engine noise, and said it is a normal sound for the engine. Well ... all is not right. The car was absolutely smoked in, neither my wife nor I could be in the car for very long and I am still working to clear the 2nd hand smoke. The engine ticking is a known issue with Jeeps (Worn Rockers, intake Camshafts) but I was told it was normal. Brakes? Well, they were 7mm (front w/rust on pads) and 3mm (rear). Not what the technician report says from the dealership. There were clearly additional pre-existing issues as well. Several errors popped up within weeks of buying the Jeep. Both Air Suspension and forward-facing camera failures. These service codes can only be reset by a dealership or someone with the tools. The motor mounts are also bad (common problem with Jeeps) and there was a swooshing noise due to an AC suction line leaking. Any average technician would find all of these things and report them to the management at the dealership as part of the pre-inspection. I fully expect some repairs may be required with any used vehicle purchase but not this many after seeing the pre-inspection and being told there were no major issues. Hope this helps others as it is a big disappointment to me that I trusted the Penske name and the dealership with the purchase of a quality used vehicle only to find soon after the number of undisclosed preexisting issues. Purchased new 2011 Mini Cooper here and will never never take my car here again or purchase another vehicle here due their poor service department. Took my 2011 Mini in due to check engine light and missing. They did a diagnostic and told me me that I needed a new engine and quoted me 17,008.58 for a new engine. Car had 86,000 miles on it and they did not perform or recommend looking at valves, doing a compression check or any other diagnostics. Though did offer me to trade it in for a new car. Took car to indepenent shop and they fixed vehicle for about what Mini charged me for an incomplote erroneous diagnostic. The valves needed cleaning as is common issue with the Mini Cooper direct injected engines. More

Charlie was great to work with--genuine and transparent about the vehicle and process. No one at the dealership was pushy, and that made everything seem more trustyworthy.
