T DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH MOSSY TOYOTA!!! PLEASE SHARE! This dealership's service department has no integrity, no respect for patrons or their time. They quoted a price of $130 to make a new key for my daughter's car, knowing she has no existing key, and instructed her she'd have to get it towed to them. We had it towed here and were then told it's $430. The person who gave us the quote confirmed to management she t quoted a cost of $130. It took several minutes to get to talk with the service manager, DALE SNOW, who would not agree to honor the quote. I explained the last time we were here for a recall they did not have the parts even though we'd made an appointment so we had to come back a second time and he was nowhere to be found when we tried to complain on both occasions. My daughter is very sick and working on her PhD, so this is all particularly inconvenient and costly. I told him this is no way to manage a service department or conduct business and that we can find a locksmith to come to us for only $120. His response was to say he'd split the difference, rather than to honor their original quote. Obviously we're having the locksmith come instead and will never come to MOSSY TOYOTA again! I ask that you pass this along and stay clear of this crooked, uncaring business! More
Surprise Bills I came in to get my doors and brakes looked at and to get an oil change. Richard from service checked me in, and I told him what I needed to have them I came in to get my doors and brakes looked at and to get an oil change. Richard from service checked me in, and I told him what I needed to have them look at. At first he didn't say anything about any diagnostic fee, so l asked him, knowing that there usually is some kind of diagnostic fee. Of course there is. $130. I said that was fine because Richard assured me that "the $130 goes towards fixing the car." As it turns out, it was $1600 to have my doors fixed, so I obviously decided not to have them fix the doors and to just have them put on new brakes and do the oil change. After waiting over 4 hours, my car was finally finished and Richard explained to me the total. Previously, he told me it would be around $500 for new brakes and $35 for an oil change. Curiously, now Richard told me that the total was around $700. I asked him to break down the charges for me, and what do you know, there was the $130 diagnostic fee added on top of the cost of the brakes. I said, "Hey, I thought you said that the $130 went towards fixing the car." Richard responded that the $130 only went towards fixing the doors, not the breaks, and because I wasn't having the doors fixed the $130 had to be added on top. As you can imagine, my reaction was less than friendly. First, Richard did not tell me about any diagnostic fees, I had to ask him about it. Second, he tried to surprise me at the end with a bill that was way higher than what he had quoted and what I was expecting. This was a totally cheap move on their part and something a classic, dishonest car dealership would do. After telling him how unhappy I was with him, he knocked the $130 in half, but it was still unacceptable. Oh and before I forget, while I was waiting for four hours, I overheard what I assumed to be a sales manager tell a group of salespeople that "If you were just straight up with people, we wouldn't have all these problems" to which they all had a good chuckle. Classic. Haha. Ha. Ha. Overall, my experience was that this dealership will try to screw people out of money, has very poor customer service skills, and takes an extremely long time to do any repairs. More

They say to wait in your car, but I had to finally get out my car and get someone, the first person in a service shirt. I had a 3:pm appt. for a new battery and an oil change. The battery was the most expensive of three places, Cost Co. $85, AAA $100 installed, Mossy Toyota $120. 1:45 minutes later I walk over to see my car in the drive finished. No one came to tell me. After all this, they could have given me a free car wash to show good will. Nope. I won't be back. More
First and foremost, have your vehicle inspected by another mechanic after having it serviced at this location. I brought my vehicle, to this location, for a diagnostic regarding an ongoing problem. At that time, the service department installed a defective part in my vehicle. Several months later, I discovered the defect. Since the part is still under warranty, I returned my car to be inspected. I explained the situation to the mechanics and Dale Snow. Dale Snow, director of the service department, negated to honor the warranty of the part, refused to replace it, and, to add insult to injury, blamed me for the broken part. Now, I have to get an attorney or go to small claims court to resolve this dispute. Who do you think will win if they say a new part was installed? Beware! You might get ripped off too. More
Arrogant service department. I bought a Prius there and have been bringing it to them for a few years. I recently brought my Lexus for service and had to spend 15 minutes REGIVING them my personal informa have been bringing it to them for a few years. I recently brought my Lexus for service and had to spend 15 minutes REGIVING them my personal information...name, address, phone number....and of course, they screwed it up...so, thier system has no foggy idea that I am already a customer...When confronting the service manager, he was not concerned about th e15 minutes I wasted regiving the same information..or that it was taken in error....he was more concerned that I was upset...and may be a bit loud. Stay away from Mossy...they are arrogant and their are WAY far behind in database technology...they are a JOKE. Will be taking my car to Toyota Carlsbad henceforth. More
Reuben Yorba, at Mossy Toyota in Mission Bay Drive, was the main reason I purchased a 2010 Prius. He was friendly, informative, and very knowledgeable. He was willing to go above and beyond. I like the the main reason I purchased a 2010 Prius. He was friendly, informative, and very knowledgeable. He was willing to go above and beyond. I like the soft sales, if Reuben would have been pushy and rude as many other sales people I have encountered, believe me, I would not be a driving the 2010 Prius from Mossy. Reuben, I know selling vehicles is a very competitive business, but at the end of the day we purchase a vehicle because of the experience that the sales person gives us. You were absolutely great! Mossy’s practice of having customers fill out a credit application in order to get a price quote, has to go!! It almost chased me out of the dealership. Reuben, I hope your boss is reading this.....He should know that the Parrot Head lady will send more business in your direction and wish you much success! Sincerely, Parrott Head Lady :-) directly from Carlsbadville! More
Brought in 2007 Prius car for dead battery and the dealer first said battery replacement, then a day later the fuse and day later the inverter which went from $200 (which was covered under extended warranty) first said battery replacement, then a day later the fuse and day later the inverter which went from $200 (which was covered under extended warranty) to $300 to $4200.00 and they said it was caused by a reverse polarity jump which was not the case; they told me to claim it on insurance and then gave conflicting information to insurance company they were misleading, unhelpful, arrogant, deceptive and I have other Toyota master mechanics and someone inside the dealer telling me I was ripped off and mistreated. They tried to charge me for storage and gave me a hard time when I wanted to move the car... I am taking this up with Toyota Corporate and the State Authorities and my attorney Avoid this dealer at all costs!!! Tom A. tom@nutritionadvisors.com More

I bought my truck here in 03 and get it serviced here. Generally they do a good job, but have fallen short. Making appointments is useless, since twice now, the person I made the service appointment with Generally they do a good job, but have fallen short. Making appointments is useless, since twice now, the person I made the service appointment with was nowhere to be found and for some reason last time them made me wait 20 min until the guy showed up (with his mcdonalds drink). What really gets me is that 2 of the last 3 times I've been there for service, the change in the console change dispensor has disappeared. They are smart enough to leave the last coin in each bin so that it isn't obvious. I wasn't sure the first time it happened, so actaully counted it this time. Was just a few bucks, but when you need it, you need it and it makes me wonder if I had anything else in the car that is now gone. I also find it amazing that someone would risk their job for for a few bucks. I guess if you are moving 50 cars a day, it can add up. Overall, they get the job done, but need to realize the little things can make as big an impression as the big stuff. More
I originally reviewed Mossy Toyota with mostly 1s after their initial service. However, I contacted the management and they were extremely helpful in resolving the issue and compensating me for the misunde their initial service. However, I contacted the management and they were extremely helpful in resolving the issue and compensating me for the misunderstandings. They issued a new key absolutely free of charge, which made up for the initial confusion and frustration. I really appreciate the effort Mossy Toyota put in to resolve this conflict. Keep up the good work! More
