Helping Pick Up The Pieces We lost our 2013 Escape to a collision about a week ago. We came in to see what they had and my wife found a 2014 Escape that was perfect for her. Typical Dealer - Tricks and Gimmicks -----PROS----- The salesperson was extremely nice through the whole process and seemed genuinely invested in the relationship between him and the c -----PROS----- The salesperson was extremely nice through the whole process and seemed genuinely invested in the relationship between him and the customer, which could've been fake, but he'd be a great actor if it was. Also, the price was unbeatable. -----CONS----- I came into the dealership on Saturday with financing already approved through my preferred company. When we moved onto discussing the numbers, which lasted for 6 hours, I was told that in order to get more money for my trade-in (fyi - their offer maxed out at less than 70% of what Kelley Blue Book said my vehicle was worth even in poor condition at the lowest end of the spectrum for dealer trade-in) I could fill out a loan application through their vendor, to show that I had interest in actually purchasing the vehicle and then if I decided to still go with my financing company they would "shred" the loan documents. All they asked was that I call them Monday morning to let them know. I called them early Monday morning and told them my decision to go with my original financing company and they told me that it was no problem and just to bring the check by, which we agreed would be on the following Saturday, which was simply because I didn't live close to the dealer. I drove all the way up to the dealer with my check in hand and I'm pulled into the financing office where he just looked at me completely confused as to why I was bringing in a check for a car that was already financed. Then, I'm told the only solution is to contact their vendor myself and pay off the loan with the check that is specifically written for Zeck Ford. Also, not a single apology from the employee in financing, he just acted like he did the right thing and I was in the wrong for wanting to do EXACTLY what he told me was possible on both Saturday AND Monday morning. Also, I found out after I left the dealer that hidden underneath the wipers across the entire bottom of the windshield there's a crack from a rock chip. I noticed the crack right after I got home from the dealer and I drove it straight home, but chances are I wouldn't have even heard a rock hit there anyway because I was focused on messing around with all the gadgets on my new toy, especially the radio. I sincerely have no idea whether it was there before I bought the car or not, but I realized my mistake for not noticing it before I drove it off the lot and was fully expecting to take ownership of the problem. The way they handled it was completely absurd though. I asked them for a price quote to replace the windshield and the employee from the service center acted like I was trying to tell him it was his fault and just loudly states: "Well, we're not paying for it". On top of that, the passenger window motor doesn't work properly, which seems like it would be one of the easiest things to inspect during this 1000 point inspection or whatever they do. And I despise the fact that I have to work with them for my warranty now, so every time I have a problem with this vehicle from now on, I'll be dealing with this. -----RECOMMENDATIONS----- Go to this dealer, get a quote and take it to a national chain that price matches (or gives you 5 days to find a better deal, etc.). It's what I should've done, but I wasn't assuming they were lying to me at the time. More
