Curtis Hughes I have not bought a new car for over 12 years and was not looking forward to the process of having to deal with a dealership. I am skeptical when it I have not bought a new car for over 12 years and was not looking forward to the process of having to deal with a dealership. I am skeptical when it comes to the sincerity of strangers, especially those who stand to gain by selling you something and possibly being taken advantage of given the fact that I am not all that interested in cars. So, I started by walking the lot to check out the Escapes, which I was interested in. It was not long into my visit that I was approached by a salesman. Okay, I thought, hold steady as he's going to try to profile me quickly by asking certain questions like what do. I do for a living. He did not and I soon found out that if there was any profiling being done, it was by me. Instead I got a salesman who was personable , knowledgeable, non-pushy, interesting in his own right and showed me genuine concern. He spent a fair amount of time with me and communicated well. He pretty much knew all the answers to my questions. I liked this car and Curtis was a straight shooter. The dealership worked with me on my trade in and did a few extra nice-ities that I appreciated as well. I didn't need to look further.....And in the end, I didn't mind the process either. I would recommend my salesman and this dealership to my friends and family. They wanted my business, they worked for it, they got it. I like that the dealership has a 3 year wash and oil change program too. More

Where to begin. Went in to buy a "Certified" Ford Taurus SHO. The first one I looked at was not what I was really looking for so I passed on it and as luck would hav Went in to buy a "Certified" Ford Taurus SHO. The first one I looked at was not what I was really looking for so I passed on it and as luck would have it they took in a 2013 Ford Taurus SHO the same day so ran over to look at it. I took it for a test drive and it drove okay. I notice a little excessive road noise but I figured hey its a Taurus, its not going to ride like a BMW. One thing I found odd was the car had dryer sheets everywhere (in the cup holder, laying the back seat and on the floor) but I didn't think anything other than they just got the car in today and wanted it to freshen up a bit. So I decided to buy. They gave me decent money for my truck so I figured lets get it done. The car was supposed to be Certified, meaning they do a full inspection of the car and check everything and basically its supposed to be a "New" car so the buyer does not have to worry about any mechanical failures or at least for a little while. Well I go to pick up the vehicle which they were supposed to "Certify" AND detail. The detail was disgusting, food in the cup holders, finger nails in the crevices in the cup holders, I was not happy. They tell me that I can schedule a time for me to bring it back so they can detail it. I decided fine lets do it. I take the car home and go to put the back seat down and the rear center seat belt falls into my hands... THE ENTIRE SEATBELT unit from under the rear deck ripped out of the hole. Okay so as part of Ford's certification process are seat belts not checked?!?! I let the salesman know that when I bring it back for the detail they need to fix the seatbelt. So I drive the car for a couple days and start to realize that the car REAKS like stale cigarettes (absolutely disgusting) and now I know why they had the car labeled with dryer sheets when I test drove it. Also, I noticed that the car was leaking fluids onto my driveway (which is now stained) and that "road noise" I mentioned earlier turns from a howl to a pulsating howl. So I make sure to let the salesman know that the car has a drive train issue as well that needs to be looked at. I drop the car off for detailing and to have the seatbelt looked at. I get a call the next day to tell me that they needed to order the seat belt parts to be able to fix it. Then I inquire about the pulsating howl. I then get another message stating that the parts they are ordering aren’t for the seat belt but because they are replacing the entire Transfer Case (or PTU as ford calls it). This car has 26K miles on it. Why would they need to replace drive line components on a car with that mileage unless it was abused. This car was supposed to be certified, meaning before I purchased all of this stuff was supposed to be looked at, and to be honest if I knew the car was having the transfer case replace with such low mileage I would not have bought the care, plain and simple. I would have had them find me another one. But instead they rushed the car out the door to make the sale rather than ensuring that their customer was well taken care of. So I expressed my frustration and concern the Kevin the sales manager because I am not stuck with a faulty vehicle, in not such a nice way for which I apologized later. He tells me that the guy who owned the car was "meticulous", he smoked in the car so that’s false and obviously was pounding on this thing from what I could tell (more to come on that). Oh don't worry, the story continues. So I get the car back after having the maintenance done and low and behold the pulsating howl is still there and has not been fixed. I tell them that I want a different car to exercise their "30 Day Exchange" policy after taking it back for a 2nd time, so Kevin the awesome individual that he is decides he’s going to try to take advantage of the situation and try to sell me a 2013 Demo SHO they have with 5K miles on it for $37K meanwhile they have BRAND NEW 2014 SHO's on their lot with 0 miles for the EXACT same price, what a Joke, not to mention completely unethical. So I tell him no and take home a loaner for the weekend (or week since that’s how long it took to fix the other car). So now I am 100% not taking this used "Certified" car they pawned off on me. So I stop in the next evening to let them know that they are going to have to find me a new car or refund my money. Kevin first tells me that he is not going to refund my money and that I can buy one of their brand new cars on the lot if I want to switch out. So I said screw it, if I am going to buy one your cars why don't I just order one and get exactly what I want. He tells me that it takes 6-8 weeks and that I would have to take a depreciation hit on the pile they sold me if I went that route. Then he tells me I can leave it on their lot and they would sell it on "Consignment" because "its your car now", what a joke. Then he tells me that he gave me a great deal on the car and that he would have sold it for a couple thousand dollars more so I said great take it back and sell it and make yourself a couple more grand we're good, well of course he doesn’t want to do that because he knows this car isn't going to sell for any more than he sold it to me for, probably less with the nice repair list it now has. So then they decide they would help me find a car somewhere in their dealer network so I start looking online to find other cars (in and out of their network) and I find a few of them about 600 miles away. So the salesman calls me and tells me they can get these cars but if they have to trade with a dealer that I have to pay the shipping fees which would be a minimum of $600 and could amount to $1200 if they had to send a car to the other dealer to make the trade which would be added to the price of the car. This was not something I wanted to hear and also I am pretty sure that it is a load of garbage. So after almost 30 days of having this battle I decided that I would buy one of the cars they have on the lot because I honestly just wanted to be done dealing with these people. I go in to look at a brand new one that they have and agree on a price with Kevin. So I come back on the following Monday to seal the deal. When I get there the finance director comes over to tell me that unless I finance with Ford for 8% APR I will lose out on $2500 in discounts on the price. I was so upset but I was SOOOOO sick of dealing with this crap I said fine do it. She also told me that I couldn't refinance for 4 months because Ford wouldn't let me, well I find out later that they get a kick back from Ford as long as I make the first few payments with the outrageous rate and that I can refinance any time with whomever I chose. SO I bought the car yesterday and I refi'd today for 1.9% and they lose their kickback. Oh and the other kicker, the car I turned in is listed on their website for $500 LESS than what I paid hahaha what a joke (remember he said he gave me a great deal and could have made a couple thousand more, good one Kevin). So to recap, I spent almost 30 days and probably 10 trips to this dealer to rectify the situation not to mention the extra $5K I had to spend to get into the new car. I have owned and purchased 11 vehicles in the last 14 years and this was by far THE WORST experience I have ever had with any dealership. I have bought all over the state of MN and even a couple in Colorado and this one has taught me some valuable lessons and the first and most important is to NEVER buy a car from Morries Minnetonka Ford. One thing I can say is that they did stand by their 30 day exchange policy but that was it the rest of the experience was enough to make a guy want to drive into a bridge embankment. The salesman (Ron D) was a pleasure to deal with and did everything I asked, although he did get a little testy from time to time, but I have to admit I wasn’t the nicest person to deal with during this whole ordeal but I am sure you can sympathize with my frustration. I would definitely work with Ron again but unfortunately if he is still working at Morries I won't get that chance because I WILL NEVER be going back to that hole. I will however, be using their free oil change program for the next 3 years but I will drive an extra 400 miles to have the rest of my service and warranty work done because they will not get another dime of my money. I came in a few times during a week at last minute and they were able to have cars ready for me to test drive. Dan Azar helped me understand the pros and cons of leasing and buying. Anytime I would call or had questions, he was always there to answer them. Every time I went in for a test drive it was very busy, but Dan would always greet me with a smile right away even when he was with three or four people; I didn't get that with other dealerships. Anytime I would walk in at least three or four people would greet me with a big smile and make conversation. I was very impressed and happy with my overall experience and would recommend Morrie's Minnetonka Ford/Lincoln to anyone. More
