As a life long and current Toyota owner I was scepticle about venturing into new territory and comparing Honda automobiles. A loyalist that I am it was hard to cross the threshold of a Honda dealer but I was pleasently greated by my salesman Trevor Straffa who helped me put a good deal together on a certified used 2009 Honda Accord Coupe. Sales manager Freddie Dunning ironed out the details including making sure I was completly satisfied with the vehicle. He met and exceeded my expectations. I drove away with an awesome, low mialage car that looks new, has a 7 year, 100,000 mile powertrain warrentee and I saved $9,000 off a new car sticker price. I have purchased a Honda from Morehead prior to this, but repeat loyalty did not seem to make a difference in the service I received. There was no record and no one seemed to care that I drove 45 minutes to this dealer when I could have gone to Curry Honda, 20 minutes from home. My first experience with Morehead (at their old location) was excellent, so I was willing to make the trip. Neil, the salesman, was very low pressure and kind. It would have been a good idea for him to make a follow up phone call after my initial visit since I was clearly interested in purchasing a vehicle because my car had recently been totalled in a car accident. I got a call from a lovely woman whom I did not know, but agreed to go back for a test drive. The two sales managers with whom I dealt were neither helpful nor flexible. There was little negotiating with the first sales manager who told me that it was impossible to get the CRV for $27,000 because the new redesign was only 5 weeks old and there was still high interest in the car. He said he would split the difference and go to $27,800 and that was it. There was no more discussion. I'm not sure how that works, but OK. When I came back, I dealt with a different sales manager. I was told that I could have a automatic start included in my purchase price if I took a car that was already at the dealership, but if I wanted to wait for my color choice, I would have to pay. This does not seem very logical to me. He was rather brusqe and impatient. When I said I had to call my husband to check, he walked past me twice and overtly checked his watch both times. Clearly I was annoying to him. Again, I paid. Once I committed to purchasing the CRV and paying in full for the auto start, everything went smoothly and the car arrived on time and in perfect condition with mud flaps included at no additional charge. The finance guy was very informative. I understand that car dealerships need to make a profit and I have NO problem with that, but their job is to make the customer feel like he or she has at least made a good deal. I am a loyal customer who would have been willing to drive to Morehead for my oil changes and future purcahses, but I think I may just drive over to Curry and give my money to them. More
