Outstanding Auto Purchase I was looking for a Cadillac. I happened to find what looked like a real cherry on the computer at mini of dutchess. The only problem was we were in M I was looking for a Cadillac. I happened to find what looked like a real cherry on the computer at mini of dutchess. The only problem was we were in Massachusetts, a 2.5 hour drive. After thirty five years in the technical industry I was used to buying things on-line, knowing what to "look for", "traps", even phony reviews- in fact Amazon is dealing with the latter as I write this. However that is not the case here. Their web site is laid out extremely well. The user interface is well constructed and easy to navigate. After some preliminary research of my own on both the car and the dealer, I reached out to them and spoke with “Spiro” in sales. I explained my situation and expected him to say come on down and look at it. Instead, he managed the sales call over the phone. He qualified the call, his needs assessment was right on, he probed for the essential information and then closed for action which was “talk to my wife, first see if she likes the car, that’s the most important thing”, which it was. I got busy and was not able to get back to him right away. After a couple of days Spiro called me back. I’ve bought many cars in my lifetime. Technical sales are somewhat different in that they involve long lead times; relationship selling that develops over an equally long time, etc. Car dealers and the industry in general are set up somewhat differently for obviously different reasons. It’s been my general experience most are “high pressure”, get them in the door- back and forth with the finance manager, add on’s, warranty upgrades, etc. Buying a car is an “emotional” sell and most dealers use that to their advantage to help leverage sales. Had I received that “signal” from Spiro I would have terminated the call right away. Instead I found a man who was sincerely interested in getting my wife and me the right car at the right price. Eventually, Lance the finance manager was brought on the call and he presented warranty options and information we requested in a timely and “friendly” manner. At ease with the whole process we conducted our business, Spiro presented the offer, and we purchased it “sight unseen” with the condition if the vehicle was not as described or pictured the deal was off. It was then that Spiro said come on down. We both drove down to look at the vehicle and it was everything AND MORE! It was like new. We could not have been any happier with the vehicle or the people that we could now put a face to the name and voice. As a senior executive for the Microsoft Corporation, I was trained earlier in my career at IBM on the science of selling. Let me tell you, these fine men and women are as professional as any I have come in contact with. They are dedicated to their craft and their commitment to excellence is second to none. I’d be remiss if I did not include in this synopsis mentioning Kaitlyn, Alexandra, and Danielle in the reception area and back office. They were pleasant and engaging to talk with each and every time. In fact one, and I’m not sure which one, (forgive me) recommended a restaurant when we asked and could not have been any happier with her recommendation as well. Great job ladies! In summary, the purchase experience at Mini of Dutchess could not have gone any better. Ask for Spiro and Lance, I’m sure the other reps are as qualified but I can only vouch for the people I dealt with. These two men and three women have “what it takes” to run a successful business. It starts with character and integrity and ends with a happy customer- and that is what we are. When we are in the market again Spiro will be the first one we call I don’t care how far it is.
