Customer Service at Its Finest! Customer Service at its FINEST! I want to offer a HUGE thank-you to General Manager/ Butch Miller, Service Director Curt Sloyer, and Service Manage Customer Service at its FINEST! I want to offer a HUGE thank-you to General Manager/ Butch Miller, Service Director Curt Sloyer, and Service Manager Tot Ingram at Milton Martin Honda for going WAY above and beyond the call of duty to help me out. Last year, my daughter and I both bought used Honda Civics. They were in great shape mechanically, but small areas of fading and chipping paint on the roof and trunk lid began to get worse. A few months ago I found out from a local body shop that it was a manufacturer’s defect in the paint process, and there was an extended warranty on the repair. I went to the local Honda dealer about getting it fixed, but they said that I was outside of the warranty period by a few months, and there was nothing they could do. I called American Honda, and got the same story. I mentioned this in a conversation with Bruce Thompson, and he suggested I call Butch Miller, the General Manager at Milton Martin Honda. After explaining my dilemma, Butch had me send him an email with the details, and some pictures of the damaged paint. He put Curt Sloyer on the job, and after about six weeks of wrangling with American Honda, he called me and told me that Honda was going to cover the cost. My daughter and I drove all the way out to Gainesville to drop the car off, and a couple of weeks later Curt called and told me my car was ready. There was only one problem…I was leaving the next day with a crew from church to go to Baton Rouge to help with the clean-up after the flooding, so it would be almost a week before I could go retrieve my car and drop off my daughter’s. Showing their unbelievable dedication to customer service, Curt sent a driver to drop my car off at my house and pick up my daughter’s car to get painted…a drive of nearly TWO HOURS EACH WAY! Last Saturday we drove back up to pick up her car, and were greeted by Tot Ingram, who helped us with all the final paperwork and offered any additional help he could provide. The paint job on both cars was fantastic. As a small business owner, I learned long ago that success in business is not about profit margins, cost efficiencies, and revenue growth, though those things are all important. The MOST important thing is the relationships that you build - with customers, vendors, employees, etc. – and the trust that comes with a reputation for honesty and integrity. The last several cars I’ve bought have all been private sale, mainly because of the high-pressure sales tactics, poor service, and exorbitant prices of the other dealerships I’d been to in recent years. I can tell you one thing though…the next time I get ready to buy a car (and we are an all-Honda family now), it will be WELL worth the scenic, two-hour drive to visit the good folks at Milton Martin Honda! More
