I am a real car nut and had spent considerable time reading online reviews and enthusiast publication test reports before visiting the dealership. I had already narrowed down my potential choices to 4 vehicles that would meet our needs, including 2 of the Subaru brand. John Poster was the first personal interaction I had with Miller Subaru. He was friendly, informative, asked very good questions about our status and need without pushing for a sale, and spent time with my wife and me even though we indicated we were early in the factfinding stage. He spoke about the benefits, features and product attributes of the Subaru's, not in a techie manner, but in a practical way that was tuned to our expressed needs. He presents an easy-going, competent, enthusiastic, patient and very comfortable manner of interaction. We terst-drove the Forester and the Outback models we were considering, and John sat in the back explaining different aspects of the vehicle as appropriate, then remained quiet so we could absorb the test drive experience. We left the dealership with much more information than we had going in. I went to the dealerships of the two other brands we were considering, and returned to Miller, met with John, and continued the process, discussing purchase/lease offerings. Again, John was very clear in his explanation of each process, introduced us to Ron (general manager), and to Aaron (business manager/finance). The introductions and conversations with each were natural, never feeling like the old-school sales-to-manager-to-dreaded-closing-room transactions of high pressure car dealerships that I've experienced in the past. In conclusion, we leased a Forester. Delivery of the vehicle was scheduled to our satisfaction and the process was efficient, logical and thorough. I rate the dealership team and John specifically a 5/5. Top marks for a great car-buying experience. The only potential improvement in the process would have been to do a brief walk-through of the service department, but that can certainly be attributed to the fact that I really didn't ask about service-related issues and John was staying on task (completing the delivery of the vehicle to its proud new owners). I priced Foresters at three dealerships on-line to obtain a new Subaru for my wife. We had owned 3 Subarus previously, a wagon (12 years), sedan (8 years) and Legacy wagon (3 years). Miller & another dealer were forthcoming, their offers consistent information disclosed in my research. Christina the contact from internet sales was by far better in terms of follow-up and addressing my initial questions. Upon arrival at the dealership, I was connected with Jay Fralin, of the Sales staff. Jay is an experienced salesperson who understood my needs and attempted to accommodate them. He was honest and information he provided was consistent with my research pertaining to the vehicle and pricing. He did not atttemt to employ pressure or questionable sales tactics. Both of the vehicles in which we were interesed were sold prior to our arrival. Jay attempted locate another but was unsuccessful. I was also assisted by Ms. Miller, ass't manager, with respect to locating another vehicle. I was impressed by the accessiblity and responsiveness of management staff to address my concerns. Jay provided some options and subesquently informed me that another model that might meet my needs was delivered to the dealership. We purchased it immediately. Jay was excellent in explaining the features and operation of the vehicle to my wife, even syncing her cell phone to the bluetooth in the car. We were also impressed with the business manager who completed the transaction for purchase of the vehicle. He made us aware of additional options that we might purchase pertaining to warranties etc. Once again, we engaged with a true professional, who did not employ pressure or questionable sales tactics. We selected Miller for our purchase because of their business model which values honesty in dealing with the consumer, good pricing, and professional, knowledgeable staff who were responsive in addressing our concerns. Their assistance with the purchase was seamless in regards to: 1) connecting with financing arranged through USAA, 2) transferring the NY-State registration from my expired car, 3) explaining all new features on the automobile, and 4) taking care of all necessary paperwork. I give Miller Subaru extra compliments for providing a new cover for the cargo area (was missing). Also, I was very pleased that Ed Hughes delivered on his promise to obtain and send me the spare clicker / key that the previous owner had not left with the car. It's been 14 years since I last purchased a car. And, this purchase is our 4th Subaru. However, on my first visit to Miller Subaru, Ed Hughes materialized out of the car lines and I have stayed with him ever since. He took much time explaining the many improvements that have evolved in the Subaru Outback in fourteen years, took me out for a ride, and then allowed my own test drive. A serious consideration for me was to go from a 6 cylinder back to a four cylinder engine with the box engine to derive the best possible mileage while focusing on the conservation of what seems to be a limited energy supply. This feature, plus the test drive and extensive explanation of the many new features of the Subaru, and the deal was happening with Ed. Possibly like everyone else in this economy, the financial details needed to resolved. Having retired from a long teaching career, the pros and cons of leasing and purchasing needed exploration. Actually, I communicated a number of times with Ryan Plotcher on the internet, and he did seem to respond in a timely effective manner to every question. Aaron Freedman facilitated the paper work sealing the deal while Ed was finishing with another customer. His alertness was very considerate of my time and his handling of all of the various documents was clear and efficient. On the Day of Acquisition, Ed, once again, explained all of the information contained in the manuals, he reviewed the various warranties introduced by Aaron, and then walked me out to the car to ensure that I was ready to drive away in my new, very fabulous 2012 Subaru Outback. Ed shared his hamburger with me, pulled a navigation system out of mid-air, and endured the quirky personality of a woman of 60+ years. I don't think I could have had a better car buying experience!
