I'm sorry that you lost your vehicle during Sandy and I'm also sorry that you feel you paid too much for your vehicle. Unfortunately when it comes to interest rates and lending institutions, high interest rates are a given when someone's credit isn't up to par. You were offered a low price but a higher interest rate as expected when someone is credit challenged. You instead agreed on a deal with the finance manager to add extras to your vehicle for a better rate. The deal was written, shown to you and accepted by you but now you are unhappy. Unfortunately I can't offer you both a cheap price AND a low interest rate when your credit score won't allow it. The money has to come from somewhere.
