Told them what I needed done according to a letter from the Toyota corporation, and they said they would order the part needed. I show up on appointment day, give them the letter from Toyota which said the recall should take up to 3 hours to complete. So I go kill 3 hours. Come back 3 hours later, they say there’s 4 recalls on my car and wouldn’t be ready til tomorrow. Nobody called and told me this! They offer a rental, I decline at first, change my mind and come back to request a rental. They say, we’ll let me see if ones available. There is one available, I drive to go get it, and see my car just sitting there, no one has even started working on it! I ask the rep if they have started fixing my car, he casually says “no, probably not, they’re real busy with bigger projects.” Then I go in to get the rental, and they tell me I have to replace gas in it that I use. After they had jerked me around at this point, I had enough and said “I’m not putting gas in anything!” I proceeded to tell them how mad I was at their lack of communication and how I would never come back!! Come to find out, they never ordered the part needed for the recall I came for to begin with. I went to get my car fixed on a Wednesday and didn’t get it back until Friday! So if you want to get your Toyota worked on go somewhere else!! More
Worst car “buying” experience of my life I found a car online that was a very rare vehicle, so I immediately called, talked numbers, came to an agreement, and gave the dealership a deposit to I found a car online that was a very rare vehicle, so I immediately called, talked numbers, came to an agreement, and gave the dealership a deposit to secure the vehicle. I’ve bought several cars this way, there has never been an issue. The dealership contacted my credit union and gave them all the appropriate information and I secured financing as well as put insurance on the car. The next morning, I went by the credit union to get the check and was on my way to meet the salesperson I was working with. I wasn’t even halfway there and I receive a call from the dealership saying that they couldn’t deliver me the car because they already sold it. After further talking to my salesperson, a previous customer of theirs had gotten angry that they had already taken a deposit on the car and they ended up selling it to them instead of me. I spoke with the sales manager who could not have cared less about the situation at all. They had no problem taking my money, letting me secure financing, and putting insurance on the vehicle, and then acting as if it was no big deal I had taken time off work to honor my part of the agreement, they weren’t even a little worried that they weren’t holding up their end. Go somewhere else and buy a car, there are too many good dealerships ran by good people to deal with unprofessionals like this. I wouldn’t buy a pack of gum from this dealership, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone else to either. They don’t care about getting new customers, just putting you on the back burner once they have your money. More

Unannounced service I came in unannounced through the open service doors. I had my tires rotated and the maintenance Dash warning reset. This meant a lot to me because I I came in unannounced through the open service doors. I had my tires rotated and the maintenance Dash warning reset. This meant a lot to me because I was on vacation and it was the first 5,000 miles of my new leased Toyota Tundra. They took care of us in less than an hour. Besides that they have a cafeteria there there where we could have our breakfast made for us. It was a pleasure having such great service. Especially when it was unannounced with no appointment. Thank you "Siggy" Brandon Sigmon! More
Mike Johnson's Toyota of Hickory ROCKS!! Mike Sigmon, salesman, responded to my initial inquiry in a very short time. He quoted me a fair and honest price. When we went and looked at the new Mike Sigmon, salesman, responded to my initial inquiry in a very short time. He quoted me a fair and honest price. When we went and looked at the new Highlander, he proved he had a great working knowledge of the vehicle. Josh, the manager, confirmed a fair price for my trade. Gus, the finance guy, gave us a lot of information, but did a great job presenting our options for financing, GAP and additional warranties, and we never felt pressured when making our decisions. Every phase of the purchase was professional, prompt and polite. The dealerships in Charlotte, Winston, Greensboro and Statesville have nothing on Mike Johnson's Toyota. They ROCK!!! More

I was charged for parts I didn't need, charged for $40 misc. parts that were not even used or applicable, forgot the oil change sticker in my window, and my $29.95 oil change still cost over $40 with a $15.00 off coupon. Best experience ever! I live over 2 hours away from Hickory, and have never been there, but I just bought a 1794 Tundra from them! I sent in an email and Nicolette respond I live over 2 hours away from Hickory, and have never been there, but I just bought a 1794 Tundra from them! I sent in an email and Nicolette responded almost immediately, asked what model I was looking for, asked me about my trade in and presented some numbers to me. After a few emails (mostly delay on my part), a deal was struck. I was contacted by the sales manager, general sales manager and the internet manager within one days time frame ensuring I had all the info I needed to make a smart decision. I checked with a few other Toyota dealers and Hickory beat them all and even delivered the truck to me in SW Virginia!! I wonder if the salesperson at a different Toyota store regrets asking me "are you sure the 1794 is in your budget"? Oops, sorry amigo. Great job Hickory Toyota! More
Miserable Experience First,I know this is long but I believe in buyer beware. It all started when me and my grandmother went to buy me a car at Mike Johnsons. We were First,I know this is long but I believe in buyer beware. It all started when me and my grandmother went to buy me a car at Mike Johnsons. We were talked into a straw purchase at another dealership and we were not aware of what this was so we wanted to get the car in my name as well. We worked with Kent and Andy and we decided on a new camry. Going in there were a few hicuups, there was a payment showing late with Toyota on the current vehicle which we proved was not late by showing our bank statement to Toyota. We were assured though that we were ok so we went in to sign. Where you used to sign carbon copies, that doesn't happen anymore, you actually sign on a giant ipad the size of the desk. After being there for 5 hours we were done for. We were ready to sign so the gentleman that assisted us with this is taught very well to rush you through everything and enlarges the signature area which covers most of what you should be reading. We really messed up because we thought we read the contract in detail but after getting home we realized that we signed a contract that included $4000 in add on warranties and such on a brand new car mind you. So now its time to go home, they give us a great tutorial on how to use the car and tell us it is ours. Fast forward to Monday and they tell us there is a problem in finance and that we need to give it time to be worked out. Tuesday rolls around and we are told to bring the car back that financing fell through due to the late payment. Crushed, I couldn't understand why we have a signed contract in hand yet they want it back. So, I contacted our lawyer and he handled the situation for us all while we were threatened to be arrested for not returning the car that day. I have emails to prove the threats. THe next day my attorney contacted them and their attorney and they send over something that lead to the truth. We were led on to believe the car was ours when in reality it was a spot delivery. They turned in a form we supposedly signed stating we would return the car if financing fell through but its funny they didn't include that form in all of our paperwork. Again we were threatened with being arrested which scared my grandmother. Our attorney told their attorney we would return their car that evening but we would like our $2500 down payment back which he was told we would. On our way there he berated me on the phone and said I had been shopping at other dealers in "HIS" car which he got the information from our finance company. When we got there they did not have our check because we came after 5 and the guys that write the checks were gone for the day. I then made Andy the Manager signed a form stating they would bring the check to us the next day which they did. But when we were ready to leave and retrieve our keys they only had one and we know for a fact we left both there and unfortunately they had to have lost it. I asked them to make it right but Andy refused. Well a week later I called to speak with a manager and no one was available. A little later I got a call back from andy after I told the receptionist I did not want to speak with him specifically because he had been very condescending and rude to me several times throughout this experience. Well as we are discussing the missing key I asked him to make the whole situation right by them making another key for me. He then proceeds to start being rude and condescending again saying things like you are the one that made a straw purchase at the other dealership and saying well if you are going to review us you need to tell the whole story. Those were his exact words. In the end I did not get a new car and I'm now out a key that they lost and refuse to make me another one. We don't deserve all of this bad customer service and being talked to so rudely just because the deal did not go through. So please steer clear of this dealership and its employees. More
