I knew I was having some issues with 2004 Passat, 79,000 miles (oil leaks, water leaks, worn tires, oil change, 3 filters dirty, alignment, burned out light bulb, etc.). Previous experience with non-dealers miles (oil leaks, water leaks, worn tires, oil change, 3 filters dirty, alignment, burned out light bulb, etc.). Previous experience with non-dealers is that difficult issues are hard to resolve; while another dealer repeatedly over charged (grossly) and did not reliably do the work. One previous experience with this dealer was positive- they fixed an A/C issue reasonably that 3 other shops did not. I easily was able to schedule a convenient, near date for the service, which I described as a 60,000 mile service (last 3 services were just 5,000 mile oil changes), which consists of checks, lube, and oil/filter and cabin filter change. They found many issues, and I was allowed to look underneath and all over the car to inspect the problems. Initially this totaled to over $5,000! The car is probably worth $8,000 - $10,000. I am mechanically inclined with non-professional experience, and I believe the evaluation was accurate. Evidently, VW believes that the timing belt (ergo, most other rubber as well) deteriorates after 8 years. Talking with the mechanic and service manager, I decided on the relative importance and urgency of each repair. The engine oil leaks (but not upon the driveway), but I will wait for what I was told is about $1,000 to fix this. The coolant leak was serious, and prior VW experience indicated that the water pump probably needed replacement, as I was told. The coolant was extremely rusty (dark brown), so I needed an acid flush. I was shown evidence of deteriorating motor mounts, and told the consequences; I decided to do it later (about $800). I discovered that they could take care of some minor body damage that was preventing me from washing my car in a car wash, for less than $300 (I had been quoted over $3,000 at a body shop, but I don't need the little ding in the body pounded out, just the 2 pieces of trim replaced). All told, I spent 2 hours of both the mechanic's and Frank's time inspecting the car, revising estimates, and bargaining on price. They were very patient. I needed a loaner, which was thrown in free. Frank also applied some discounts, and did not charge labor for some things. As a result, I paid about $2,800, which I figure is in the same neighborhood as anywhere else for the same work. I had the timing belt kit, rollers, etc., water pump, 4 new tires, alignment, maintenance, air, cabin & oil filters, flush, replace all coolant, etc. done- everything but the motor mounts and oil leaks. The work was done on time, and the car rides and runs better now. They went out of their way to be patient and polite and accommodating. If they had not been patient to work with me, I would have taken the car all over town to get it re-evaluated and the work done. I realize that no shop can please everyone all of the time, and that there are some cranks as well as those who don't tell the whole truth about their story- there are 2 sides. But my experiences here so far are dramatically different from those I consistently got from the other dealer in town, so I think it is fair to tell others. By the way, I still like the salesmen at the other dealership, even if their shop is rude, is overpriced, is not accommodating, and can't fix it the first time. MAG done good! They seem to be trying to be polite, fair, accommodating, and competent. More
I bought a certified pre-owned Passat at MAG. This has been an excellent great running car and I bought it at a great price. Since my purchase I have gone back to MAG for service for my VW. The first t been an excellent great running car and I bought it at a great price. Since my purchase I have gone back to MAG for service for my VW. The first time I took it back, I had an engine light on. The service folks found that the issue was an extensive repair that needed to be done, however, the repair was completely covered under my warranty. While i was there, they checked so see if there were any other "recalls" (my phrase) on my car. They found several and fixed all of them while I was there! They also did a thorough check of all my systems and found that I had only 40 percent left on my 5 year old battery. As winter is coming on, I decided to replace the battery. They had a special on their batteries so not only did I had a VW replacement part, but when I researched the cost on-line, it was less than I could have gotten done at one of the so called "discount" places! The second time I took it in the air conditioning went out. Keeping in mind that this is a 5 year old car, I was looking at a pretty healthy repair bill. However, when repairing the car, they found that the issue was due to a condenser that had literally come apart internally and the entire cost was covered under my pre-owned warranty!! The repair information that they sent home with me was 4 pages!! They did an enormous amount of repairs at no cost to me. Due to it taking so much time, and I chose to wait for my car, they also gave me a car to drive home at no cost!! I cannot say enough good things about MAG. I have bought new Infinities, Lexus, Toyota's, Acura's and Nissans and I have NEVER experienced the honesty, integrity and customer care anywhere to the extent that I experienced at MAG. Will I buy another car from MAG? You bet! I will no longer buy a car anywhere BUT MAG!!! More

I brought my car in after purchasing it used from another state. The dealership had worked out an arrangement with me that I could bring it to the dealership of my choice to have the needed repairs made. I c state. The dealership had worked out an arrangement with me that I could bring it to the dealership of my choice to have the needed repairs made. I chose MAG and boy am I pleased that I did. They discovered that my intake was bad and that it was a known issue, and not only did they fix it, but they also brought the selling dealership into the mix and had them cover all repairs. The service professional, Bob, has a very professional demeanor, and he is truly an asset to the company. I think I have found a service department I will be able to count on for the life of my vehicle and beyond! More

We are very impressed with the customer service, especially Bob Cox at Volkswagen Midwestern Auto Group in Dublin. There was some noise issue with our Routan (our only vehicle), the dealership gave especially Bob Cox at Volkswagen Midwestern Auto Group in Dublin. There was some noise issue with our Routan (our only vehicle), the dealership gave us a loaner vehicle fit for 3 car seats, even though we did not purchase the car from them. We were daily updated on the status of our vehicle by phone. Our car runs great now. If I were to buy a car in the future I would go to Midwestern Auto Group in Dublin. - Joseph Anthony, Powell, Ohio More
The service manager physically assualted me during a dispute over damage to a loaner car. The paperwork to release the loaner car was not properly completed by the service associate when the car was giv dispute over damage to a loaner car. The paperwork to release the loaner car was not properly completed by the service associate when the car was given to us nor was a copy of the agreement given to us at the time. When we returned the car there was a small scuff on the bumper, we did not believe it occured while the car was in our possession but the documentation of the inspection that was supposed to have occured was not completed ( we were not asked to initial the diagram showing we approed the car had no damage). The service manager would not release our car that was in for repair until we paid for the damage to the loaner. After finally agreeing under durress to pay for the damage I asked for a copy of the loaner car agreement for my records. Keith refused to give me a copy and threatened to remove me from the building with force. I tried to grab the copy of the agreement so I could show him where it stated specifically I was entiteld to a copy at which point he shoved me into a door and proceeded to physically restrain me. And on top of all this, the car that was in for repair to begin with had already been in once before for the same issue and was not fixed properly and even after this was still not fixed so we're on three attempts now to get one thing fixed on a car that is less than one year old. I have dealt with VW dealers across three states since I live in Columbus and visit family for extended periods in both Missouri and North Carolina. As far a quality work is concerned, no dealer I've deal live in Columbus and visit family for extended periods in both Missouri and North Carolina. As far a quality work is concerned, no dealer I've dealt with beats MAG. Every other dealer I have dealt with has left belly pan screws off after an oil change or overfilled the oil even though I specifically instruct them not to at the time of the write up. These are big problems on Passats and routinely result in dragging bellypans on the highway. MAG never fails to install the belly pan correctly and i don't even have to remind them anymore. Another time, my check engine light came on while I was in NC. Brought it into the local dealer down there and even though they turn off the light, they screwed up and disabled my cruise control. My AM radio also failed to work shortly after that. Since I didn't trust those guys to fix their own damage, I waited and brought it into MAG. MAg fixed the cruise control but had a hard time isolating the AM radio problem. They told me upfront that it may take a while since they had to pull the lining off and order the right piece for the three piece antenna. Then they offered me a Land Rover loaner. But after a couple days, they got it sorted it out and my radio has worked flawlessly for the last 60,000 miles. If you go to vwvortex or Passatworld.com, you'll find that AM radios are a common problem on 2002-2005 passats and a lot of the owners complain that their dealer won't even look at the problem since its a real pain to deal with and VW doesn't reimburse them well for warranty work. So my hats off to MAG for taking a hit for me. To the previous poster: yeah I can see how forcing you to put plate frames on can leave a bad taste in your mouth, but VW dealers generally suck. So when you find a good one like MAG, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. They probably lost money on you so a little give and take is probably not too much for them to ask. More
