Prepare to be hassled and overcharged! Congratulations on extending a 3 hour repair into more than 12 hours and charging me double the average cost for replacing the thermostat in my HHR! G Congratulations on extending a 3 hour repair into more than 12 hours and charging me double the average cost for replacing the thermostat in my HHR! GOOD JOB! I noticed on Wednesday morning after I started my car to go to work that the temperature gauge in the dash was not working. The heater was working well so when I got home I connected my 'code reader' to the computer and found the code for a bad thermostat or sensor. I read some of the blogs on an HHR site and decided that the thermostat needed to be replaced. It was close to Christmas and I didn't want to mess with it so I decided to take it to Midway Chevrolet since I have been going to them for years. I set up an appointment using their app for Thursday afternoon I dropped my car off at the service center around 3:00 pm on Thursday and told the service advisor I just wanted the thermostat replaced. I asked if they could check out another possible repair if it would be easy. I asked if there was a rental car available and I was told there were none available. I walked across the street to rent a car from Enterprise. On Friday afternoon I called after I got off work, around 2:45 pm, to see if my car was ready. I was told no and the service advisor proceeded to inform me of other problems they found with my car and the repair cost of each. I declined to have them perform the added repairs and told the service advisor to replace the thermostat, clear the codes from the computer, and let's see what happens. I returned the rental car and walked across the street to see the service advisor and find out when my car would be ready. The service advisor told me that it would be ready on Saturday morning. I asked how long it takes to replace a thermostat on my car and was told around 3 hours. I asked why the thermostat was not replaced since they had most of the day to do it. I suspect he was waiting to see if I would authorize the extra repairs he quoted me. His answer was that he was just looking out for my safety. At that point I was extremely unhappy and I told him so. Then I told him I needed a ride home. He called for a Lyft ride. On Saturday morning I got a Lyft ride and arrived to pick up my car a little after 10:00 am. The service advisor presented the bill that was over $600. That is twice the average charge for that repair because I checked repair costs on mechanic websites before I took my car in. I told him that the bill is too high and I will never come back to Midway Chevrolet again. The temperature gauge is working well. All that was needed was the thermostat. I could have had my car back on Friday afternoon if Midway Chevrolet had done what I wanted them to do. My son is a certified Ford mechanic and I have worked on my own cars for many years. We will do the other repairs for one heck of a lot LESS money and HASSLE than what I went through at this dealership! More

Just one unnecessary annoyance... Just completed my 5th vehicle purchase at Midway. However, 1st time 99% of negotiation conducted via email and texting.......so much more time efficie Just completed my 5th vehicle purchase at Midway. However, 1st time 99% of negotiation conducted via email and texting.......so much more time efficient. Courteous staff. Upon arrival at dealership next morning (Saturday), was informed that the vehicle was listed as in inventory but wasn't in the dealer's possession....yet. Agreement was made to purchase the vehicle at agreed upon price and that the vehicle would be at the dealership probably Monday......most likely Tuesday. A deposit was taken via credit card charge, with the understanding that the charge would be reversed at the time of sale and receipt of funds via cashier's check. Vehicle was picked up Wednesday evening, however, we we're told that the finance dept. would have to process the paperwork and that the credit card charge would likely not be reversed until the following Monday. This feels like an unnecessary delay tactic. Midway can do better. More
