Friendly, but Questionable Service Dept This dealership had the vehicle I knew I wanted after much research, at a reasonable price, and was willing to give me what I wanted for my trade. It This dealership had the vehicle I knew I wanted after much research, at a reasonable price, and was willing to give me what I wanted for my trade. It had a clean Carfax, etc...but the check engine light came on promptly after leaving the dealership. First, Chris Alston tried to tell me the light was on because the detail guys had just hosed down everything to clean it. Ummm, No. I opted to take the vehicle to Auto Zone down the road for a quick diagnostic - which discovered a code for a fuel system sensor and something with a vacuum being idle. This isn't a "huge" deal that would leave you stranded on the side of the road, but who wants their check engine light constantly coming on and possibly masking a more serious issue in the future??? Not me. I took my vehicle to TWO real mechanics to be sure of the issue and the severity of it since we had travel plans coming up. TWICE I took the Mazda back to this dealership's service department to fix the problem, they even gave me a loaner vehicle for several days, but here I am 4 weeks later - CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON. This issue affects the gas mileage of the vehicle and the dealership had offered to reimbursement me with a check for fuel costs, but I just wanted my car fixed. Now I wish I would have taken the money to get a real mechanic to fix the problem! We will not be returning to this dealership and caution anyone from using their Service Department. The Sales Team was extremely kind and seemed to genuinely want to help, but obviously a mechanical issue is out of their hands. Maybe their Service Department is simply better qualified for routine maintenance and should not have been attempting to fix a real engine problem. I would have preferred honesty over wasting my time. More
Lionel was friendly and was able to get me a very good price on some Michelin tires (which I hadn't planned on buying when I went in for an oil change). We have never been to this Honda dealership before our experience on Jan 23rd. We have all of our Hondas serviced at Honda Cars of Rock Hill. My daughter was in Columbia last week and her engine light cam experience on Jan 23rd. We have all of our Hondas serviced at Honda Cars of Rock Hill. My daughter was in Columbia last week and her engine light came on, so we told her to take it to the Honda dealer in Columbia. She took it to Midlands Honda. She took it in and explained that the engine light had come on. She was told that they needed to run a diganostic test for $69.95 to determine what was wrong. We approved the test. Miguel came back and told us we needed: *A new Battery Cable $200 *Front Motor Mount $1,020 *2 Catalytic Convers $2,000 *4 New Tires $490 We did not approve any of the "recommended" repairs and my daughter left. This week, we took the car to Discount Tires in Rock Hill where the tires were purchased 40,000 miles ago. And were ready to buy 4 new tires, they went out and checked the tires and came in and told us WE DIDN'T NEED TO REPLACE ANY OF THE TIRES. They all still had plenty of tread on them. SAVINGS $490! We then took the car to Honda Cars of Rock Hill and were going to have them replace the Battery Cable and the Front Motor Mount. (Which their quote on the Front Motor Mount was $800 plus another 10% savings because we had a coupon). Our service rep, Connie Underwood, asked the mechanic to check to make sure these repairs were necessary before doing the work. The mechanic came back and said the battery cable only needed to be cleaned - SAVINGS $200. And it was the rear motor mount that needed to be replaced not the front one. No we are doubtful that the catalyic converters even need to be replaced since none of the other repairs that Midlands Honda said needed to be done have to be done. Between Discount Tires and Honda Cars of Rock Hill we have saved over $700. We are having the rear motor mount replaced next week at Honda Cars of Rock Hill and that will save us over $300 from Midlands Honda's price. We will never ever set foot in Midland Honda again. I will have my daughter's car towed to Rock Hill if she ever needs to have it serviced and can't safely drive it to Rock Hill. We were never a customer of Midlands Honda before. And this one experience made sure that we will never be a customer of Midlands Honda. By treating us this way they have lost a potential customer. Maybe this will teach them a lesson to try to not take advantage of young adults and to lie to customers about unnecessary repairs. More

I have been dealing with Midland's Honda since 2007. I have purchased three Hondas and have had nothing but outstanding service in every aspect of the dealership. The service is outstanding, the associates never make me feel I'm being pressured to get service that I don't need. What can I say about the expert mechanics in the service department except they keep my car running like new! I find the email reminders and coupons made available extremely helpful. Also the customer lounge is the best I've ever seen, inter net access, movies, room for kids to play (that's grandma talking) and refreshments no wonder its so easy to wait for your car! The oil change took an hour and a half. This happened before and they said they fixed the problem. I've had decussions with friends around town who complained about the service taking so long, so I aske before and they said they fixed the problem. I've had decussions with friends around town who complained about the service taking so long, so I asked the dealership when I called if it was going to take an hour and a half again to change the oil. They laughed and said that no they have solved that problem and that it no longer takes them that long. But sure enough I arrived at 8:09 and left at 10:24am. To me that's way too long for just an oil change. More
First, let me say that Mike Meiss is a good service rep. My beef is with your service technicians, who are not thorough enough. After re-surfacing my rear brake rotors in July 2010, they failed to find the cause of a noise I was newly hearing in the rear brakes when I returned a few days later. They blamed my tires. My tire servicer (who I've been with for 25+ yrs.) removed the tires and assured me they were fine. The noise grew worse and was nearly constant, and when I returned in September, I was very specific with Mike about when and how the problem occurred. After waiting for 2+ hrs. for my car to even be seen, I listened while the technician gave a "no problem" report to Mike after having had the car back there for 10 mins. Mike sent the tech back with instructions about how to isolate the problem. After another 1+ hr., the technician returned, reporting that my rear brake rotors had been re-surfaced badly in July and had to be re-surfaced again. The problem now appears to be fixed. More
