Initially, I wanted a Honda Ridgeline, but started noticing the overall value and functionality of the CR-V. So my first stop was Midlands Honda. I went with my brother and my first impression of the dealership was not a good one. From the minute I arrived, it appeared as if all of the salesguys were just sitting around the front of the dealership chatting and waiting to snag a sale. While I understand that the very nature of commission requires it to be so, it felt as if they were birds of prey waiting to pick off their next victim. Immediately after parking, I was approached by Matthew Randle (who was walking quite fast towards me before I even made it to the lot). He initially felt a bit pushy about selling...before I even was able to explain why I was there. After telling Matthew about my desire to look at the CR-V's and Ridgelines, he walked me over to take a look at them. After realizing that they didn't really have any Ridgelines in stock, we went over to the new CR-V LX. When we sat inside the vehicle, I explained to him I don't enjoy hassle or to be given the runaround; and that while I wasn't looking to buy that same day, I would be paying in full cash when I did. Matthew never explained pricing besides listing the CR-V LX at above its MSRP, and appeared to be incredibly disinterested in helping me further once he realized I wasn't going to purchase that day. He also didn't seem to know much about the CR-V besides what you can find on the manuals and via a quick internet search. After that he gave me his business card, and walked away to work on another sale, and I was left to look around the lot with my brother--which I did appreciate, since I told him I didn't like to have a salesguy hover over me while I looked. Though he never came back again after that to check up on us. I left the dealership feeling iffy about the experience. After, I followed-up with Matthew via email, inquiring about further help in finding the right CR-V for me. Matthew NEVER responded, and made me feel as if he didn't really care about me spending my money at his establishment. After this, I followed-up with Honda of Columbia, and I was IMMEDIATELY offered actual good prices BELOW MSRP on the brand new 2017 CR-V's--this was all over the phone, never having walked onto their lot. After working with a very good internet salesguy, I met with him in person at Honda of Columbia, and found the right CR-V for me. Unlike at Midlands Honda, the staff were very friendly, didn't feel disinterested after I explained I needed time to decide, and all seemed to be working and not loitering about "waiting for the next walking dollar sign". They also knew A LOT about the CR-V, which was incredibly helpful. Once I was ready, I purchased the vehicle in full (paid cash) from Honda of Columbia, and they gained a loyal customer for the life of my new CR-V. I also payed extra for all of their warranties and care plans. In the end, the lack of interest from Matthew and the feel of Midlands Honda lost a potential customer. On the other hand, Honda of Columbia got my business just for being patient, and receptive to the customer. That's something Midlands Honda should learn from. More

Just a number My fiance and I went in to look at the new CRV for me. I test drove the CRV-EXL. Loved it but too many bells and whistles for my taste. The salesperson was just interested in another sale. Did not explain the functions, and didn't want me to take it on the highway. I had to beg this person to do it. I told the sales person what color I wanted on exterior and interior plus what model. I got a call the next day and it was located. They wanted a $500 deposit for locating it when that dealership wanted one of MIdlands cars. Even swap right? No! We left feeling discouraged. I got on the internet and located my new car in under 5 minutes, in the colors and model I wanted! I drove 20 minutes to see the vehicle and bought it that same day! I was treated like a person not a number at the other dealership, and was taught about all the features on the car! Sorry Midlands, your local competitor got my business. More

I'm a widow and he has helped me immensely over the last 6-7 years. He is honest, up front and is very, very customer orientated. he consistently checks on me and keeps me posted while I'm waiting for my car. He explains all to me that service department has done and also advises me when my next service maintenance is due and what to expect and ball park figure of cost. He always answers my emails to him even tho I know how busy he is and is willing to explain things to me when I have questions. I have asked his advise/opinion of the HR-V that I'm interested in, always facts and no bull with him. I truly trust him and appreciate him and value his opinion.
