Horrible experience. My father recently had a stroke and is mildly disabled. My mother needed a vehicle but did not know how to go about it. I got a good quote online for a 2012 Tiguan and met in person to finalize everything including trade-in. Only thing mom had to do was pick it up since they didn't have one on the lot. They brought in one with 995 miles on it. She had to ask 3 times why it had high miles and was only told 'maybe it's transport miles'. She didn't know she could refuse it so she took it home. I knew I should have met her to pick it up... I questioned the salesman and he said it was very hard to locate and had to come from a long distance away. (she didn't care what color so how hard could it have been to locate? Every other dealer that I checked had one in stock...) I googled the VIN and found out it came from NJ (maybe 100 miles away). Their ads were still posted online. Once I replied to the salesman with that info he stopped communicating with me. The sales manager blew me off with "We take pride in our honesty and do not play any games with our customers" yeah - sure... I knew their parts and service department was useless. I've never gotten the right part on the first attempt (I guess they don't know a cam from a crank) and it's hit or miss on service. "the computer says your speakers are working fine"... More
My sons 06 Jetta GLI had a falling interior headliner where the fabric started pulling away from the inside roof. In looking to get it repaired I went back to the dealer who sold us the Certified Used Ca where the fabric started pulling away from the inside roof. In looking to get it repaired I went back to the dealer who sold us the Certified Used Car, Compass Volkswagen, only expecting a referral to a repair shop and fully expecting to pay for the repair since the car was technically out of the new car warranty period. Their service department took what was considered to be an out of warranty repair and along with Volkswagen of America honored the warranty and replaced the headliner at no charge. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised. But even if they had not covered the cost, the Compass staff took it upon themselves to pursue that option on my behalf and went out of their way to contact the right people at Volkswagen, ordered the replacement parts necessary, got me the service appointment that was convenient to me and followed up to make sure everything was okay. My experience left me with a lasting impression that a lot of companies today seem to take for granted. It felt personal and the entire Compass team seemed genuinely sincere in their effort to make sure I was taken care of. Others should see this approach as the standard. Thank you Compass More
I bought my 2007 Mazdaspeed 3 at Compass and have been servicing it there ever since. I have to say that their customer service skills are spectacular except for one incident I had with them but I believ servicing it there ever since. Chris Hackett is my favorite employee there. He knows what customer service is about, same with Gordy, but he is one of the owners. UPDATE to the below comments: Gordy, one of the owners, gave me a call back and we worked out a deal on the vehicle in question and apologized for the mistake. I'm now the happy owner of a new Miata! Thanks Gordy... Unfortunately I couldn't give a 5 on Overall Experience and Price because of a recent incident I had there when I came in to see an advertised vehicle. The vehicle was advertised for $22,676 ,and underneath the price, the "Special" stated that Compass would match 'up to' $5,500 on that specific vehicle. I came in and test drove the car expecting to put down $5,500 and have Compass match but I was told that the $5,500 was aready factored in to the price. Being that the Ad said they would match "up to" $5,500 on the price listed this didn't make sense to me. I emailed Gordy and Greg about my disappointment in that and didn't get a response back. I figured Compass would at least come half way as when I was there they admitted that the Ad was presented wrong. I'm assuming this was an honest mistake, and they did change the Ad after I left, but the right thing for them to do would to at least offer half of the advertised mistake since I drove 30 minutes and took time out of my day with intentions of purchasing the vehicle. Picked up brand new Mazda 3 two days ago. They didn't do a very good job of detailing the vehicle and it wasn't ready when I got there. Once they brought it around I noticed there were spots all over the h a very good job of detailing the vehicle and it wasn't ready when I got there. Once they brought it around I noticed there were spots all over the hood from the trees. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and not make a big deal about it. I noticed there was a scratch on the rear passenger door. They told me I could bring it back in a week and they'd take care of it. I should have walked away at that point. When I got home I noticed a chip on the hood that they tried touching up so they obviously new about it. The finance guy Ed was very rude when I told him I wasn't purchasing the extended warranty. I was just about ready to leave when I was told I had to resign the paperwork because they had the wrong VIN# on everything. The manager Joe gave me a bottle of wine before I left. Maybe he should concentrate on making sure the customer is getting what they pay for. They took all the fun out of getting a new car. More

I had to buy a new car and really didn't know what I was looking for. I was a walk-in to Compass, and was given enough breathing room to look around. I wasn't made to feel pushed into a purchase and was so impressed with everyone's professionalism. I wound up buying a car that same day and I've been thrilled. The maintenance plans and service departments are great too. I've already referred family and friends to Compass, with great results. More
My experience was so good that I emailed the dealership in regards to Mr. Hackett, and how please I was with his performance. He took care of me and went the extra mile. Because there are no Audi dealers in this area I took my Audi to Compass. They were great to deal with and fixed my car. Some Audi's are notorious for problems and mine had it's share. Thanks! More
i have a beloved 7 yr old VW GTI. the problem required a dealer visit, something i was pretty unhappy about. to my surprise, from the moment they answered the phone, the folks at compass motors turned me ar dealer visit, something i was pretty unhappy about. to my surprise, from the moment they answered the phone, the folks at compass motors turned me around completely. they made renting a car during the repair work easy as pie and chris in service took an interest in my car and problem. they followed up competently, quickly and efficiently. everything was repaired on time and they even washed my car. nice touch. i'm coming back even though they are 25 miles from my house. My salesman Alonzo was extremely informative, very business like, and not pushy at all. Bottom line, he knew both cars well and gave me time to check out the product. Compass keeps me up to date on all my service needs and have always answered all my questions even after the purchase of my cars.
