They told me that if a radio knob fell off the car, they would replace it. So after 2 weeks, the steering wheel wabbled and a chome door seal plate fell off the car. In the end, they wanted to charge me for both, but after yelling at the sales mgr in the sales room, they fixed the breaks part 2 - Turbo failed in the car at 70k miles. So i took the car in and they immediately denied me. Telling me that i need every oil change receipt sense i purchased the car. This was eventually resolved, but took over 2 weeks with a sour taste for Chaplins in the way they handled it. part 3 - Previous to the turbo failing, i had the car in to Chaplins a few time for oil changes. Every time i got the car back, they told me that i really needed to have the break pads changed. That they were almost grinding on the disk. After quoting me $800 to fix the breaks, i decided that i would do this my self. So off to the auto part store to purchase some pads and off with the old breaks....only to find out that 75% of the pad was still there!!! This was 6 months after they had first told me I needed to replace them. They literally tried to get me to replace the pads, when they were almost brand new. More
Very average experience. My salesman was relatively friendly. I actually did buy a Subaru there. It was shortly thereafter when I was looking for a VW did I realize these guys are the "typical" car sal friendly. I actually did buy a Subaru there. It was shortly thereafter when I was looking for a VW did I realize these guys are the "typical" car salesman. I offered a certain price in relation to invoice. So what do they do? They bring out a "fake" invoice with bogus erroneous charges added. For example, advertising fees, interest reserve charges, and dock prep charges. I walked and got a much better deal at University VW. I would avoid. More
My girlfriend and I went into this dealership last night to take a look at buying her a Subaru STi. 1. We were not greeted by sales people 2. No sales people approached us to answer questions even thou to take a look at buying her a Subaru STi. 1. We were not greeted by sales people 2. No sales people approached us to answer questions even though there were two people sitting in their offices doing nothing, and at least 2 others just standing around 3. When no one came to help we went to look at the floor model STi, and wanted to see if the trunk had a pass through or if the rear seats folded down. As we were checking out a car a salesman finally came out of his office with a PEN AND PAPER and in front of us wrote "SOLD" and informed us that the car had been SUPPOSEDLY sold to some guy on the EAST COAST! As if there aren't Subaru dealerships on the east coast. 4. Even as he did this he didn't ask if we had any questions, he just wrote sold on the piece of paper put it on the dash, and then walked back to his office. Stay Away at all costs. More
I spent hours with the salespeople at Chaplin's. The entire time they talked up their 30 day guarantee. When I agreed to purchase a car at a certain price, I included this guarantee in writing as part entire time they talked up their 30 day guarantee. When I agreed to purchase a car at a certain price, I included this guarantee in writing as part of the deal (as any smart consumer knows to do). Fast forward another 2 hours, when paperwork is about finished. Suddenly they REFUSED to put their guarantee in writing, saying I "had to be able to trust them" (my friends had a good laugh at that one). When I pointed out that this was part of the agreement, they said it didn't count because I didn't have that in writing (how's that for hypocrisy?). They even admitted that putting the guarantee in writing cost them nothing if they planned on sticking to their promise, but refused to provide that piece of mind to a customer, saying they would rather lose a sale than put their promise in writing. They got their wish! More
