These guys are a joke. I brought my 2002 Outback to them for a simple sunroof repair for a leak. It took them several times and trips for them to complete the job. Then I had to bring it back a few more tim for a simple sunroof repair for a leak. It took them several times and trips for them to complete the job. Then I had to bring it back a few more times after that because the job was not done right? Everytime I questioned them about performing leak test and cleared all the drains. The service mamager, Boris told me yes. But the reality was, they did not clear all the drains. A short time later, the same problem popped up again. Sunroof still leaking after a rain storm. I go back to Chaplins since the repair was under warrenty. This time they hired a local body shop they highly recommended, Queen City Auto Repair in Redmond,to do this repair. Everything was replaced, even the glass, tracks, and seal, after 6 weeks and almost $2300 later, the sunroof was finally fixed. So I thought until a snow storm a couple of days later and my sunroof started leaking again after the snow started to melt on my car. Quenn City tried fixing it again. And a short time later, you geuessed it. The sun roof is leaking again. This time I demanded a full refund, beacasue they had not fixed anything and I am right where I started before bringing my car in in the first place? Friends of mine with VW's have had similar experiances. Do yourselves a favor and bring your Subaru or Volkswagon somewhere else More
i went to chaplin subaru to buy a 1999 chevrolet silverado 1500.... i live a little less than 2 hours away from the dealership, i saw a truck i liked and stopped by since i was in the area to begin silverado 1500.... i live a little less than 2 hours away from the dealership, i saw a truck i liked and stopped by since i was in the area to begin with. they wanted 2 grand over suggested retail and it was a pile. then saw this 1999 that i really liked.... they wanted 4500 over book for this truck, nothing added up but i thought maybe i had just come across what i have been looking for. 1999 chevrolet silverado reg. cab short bed 4x4 and ONLY HAD "25xxx" miles on it??? too good to be true right? well the truck was spotless, absolutely beautiful! finally found the truck ive been searching for. well i couldnt buy yesterday so i kept in contact with larry over the day today and drove out there again today to come home with it. that was my full intention. heres what didnt add up.... i was on the car lot the day before and booked this truck on kbb on my phone right in front of the salesman Larry and it was 4500 over book even with the extremely low miles. larry then said try it with 80000 and the price wont be that different...??? then i drove it, still loved it and he went from 15999 to 11800 with no difficulty at all! i hadnt even stated a price yet. he just dropped the price 5 grand and werent even at a desk yet. (this was all the first day) well long story short i came back the next night to buy and asked to see the CAR FAX before i signed anything. they brought me an AUTO CHECK? still wanted the CAR FAX, finally got it and it has in big bold letters ODOMETER ROLL BACK INCONSISTANT READING some how the truck went from 73xxx to 23xxx and now has 25xxx. how the xxxx is a dealership trying to sell a truck with a rolled back odometer and didnt say a thing the whole time, who knows how many cars and trucks they have with a dirty car fax. nothing added up, i basically thought i hit the jack pot with my favorite body style silverado reg. cab short bed 4x4 lifted and was EXTREMELY CLEAN. even if i knew from the begining i would have still most likely brought that truck home tonight. but they had every excuse in the world and tried to convince me thst the car fax was wrong. i do not recomend this dealership to anyone. i use to sell cars, i know how it all works and they do not go about it in the right way at all. any repudable dealership should not have these kind of vehichles on there lot and fake what they dont actually have. warning to everyone about this dealership!!! stay away!!! 3 part story. part 1 - purchased the car from Chaplins 3 part story. part 1 - purchased the car from Chaplins and was sold into the idea of the extended warranty. They told me that if a radio knob fell 3 part story. part 1 - purchased the car from Chaplins and was sold into the idea of the extended warranty. They told me that if a radio knob fell off the car, they would replace it. So after 2 weeks, the steering wheel wabbled and a chome door seal plate fell off the car. In the end, they wanted to charge me for both, but after yelling at the sales mgr in the sales room, they fixed the breaks part 2 - Turbo failed in the car at 70k miles. So i took the car in and they immediately denied me. Telling me that i need every oil change receipt sense i purchased the car. This was eventually resolved, but took over 2 weeks with a sour taste for Chaplins in the way they handled it. part 3 - Previous to the turbo failing, i had the car in to Chaplins a few time for oil changes. Every time i got the car back, they told me that i really needed to have the break pads changed. That they were almost grinding on the disk. After quoting me $800 to fix the breaks, i decided that i would do this my self. So off to the auto part store to purchase some pads and off with the old breaks....only to find out that 75% of the pad was still there!!! This was 6 months after they had first told me I needed to replace them. They literally tried to get me to replace the pads, when they were almost brand new. More
Very average experience. My salesman was relatively friendly. I actually did buy a Subaru there. It was shortly thereafter when I was looking for a VW did I realize these guys are the "typical" car sal friendly. I actually did buy a Subaru there. It was shortly thereafter when I was looking for a VW did I realize these guys are the "typical" car salesman. I offered a certain price in relation to invoice. So what do they do? They bring out a "fake" invoice with bogus erroneous charges added. For example, advertising fees, interest reserve charges, and dock prep charges. I walked and got a much better deal at University VW. I would avoid. More
My girlfriend and I went into this dealership last night to take a look at buying her a Subaru STi. 1. We were not greeted by sales people 2. No sales people approached us to answer questions even thou to take a look at buying her a Subaru STi. 1. We were not greeted by sales people 2. No sales people approached us to answer questions even though there were two people sitting in their offices doing nothing, and at least 2 others just standing around 3. When no one came to help we went to look at the floor model STi, and wanted to see if the trunk had a pass through or if the rear seats folded down. As we were checking out a car a salesman finally came out of his office with a PEN AND PAPER and in front of us wrote "SOLD" and informed us that the car had been SUPPOSEDLY sold to some guy on the EAST COAST! As if there aren't Subaru dealerships on the east coast. 4. Even as he did this he didn't ask if we had any questions, he just wrote sold on the piece of paper put it on the dash, and then walked back to his office. Stay Away at all costs. More
I spent hours with the salespeople at Chaplin's. The entire time they talked up their 30 day guarantee. When I agreed to purchase a car at a certain price, I included this guarantee in writing as part entire time they talked up their 30 day guarantee. When I agreed to purchase a car at a certain price, I included this guarantee in writing as part of the deal (as any smart consumer knows to do). Fast forward another 2 hours, when paperwork is about finished. Suddenly they REFUSED to put their guarantee in writing, saying I "had to be able to trust them" (my friends had a good laugh at that one). When I pointed out that this was part of the agreement, they said it didn't count because I didn't have that in writing (how's that for hypocrisy?). They even admitted that putting the guarantee in writing cost them nothing if they planned on sticking to their promise, but refused to provide that piece of mind to a customer, saying they would rather lose a sale than put their promise in writing. They got their wish! More
