Sarah, although we appreciate your taking the time to write a review, we are a little puzzled that you are writing about an incident that occured over 5 months ago. We take all of our customers' comments seriously, and we would have responded to you immediately had we received a letter or a call at that time letting us there was a problem. However, we did some research and found the following. You did come in regarding a noise that occurred at times when you turned the fan on. A technician had diagnosed that your blower motor was starting to go on your 2003 Cavalier. Out technician changed out the blower motor believing the issue to be resolved. Upon taking delivery of your car, you found that the noise had come back. We did apologize to you at that time, and promptly rescheduled a service appointment for you. A second technician then diagnosed the issue and it was then fixed. Per our records, we credited you for the parts that were installed on the first visit. Overall, you were charged a diagnostic charge once; you were credited back the parts and labor that were used on the first visit that did not solve the issue; and the "unnecessary service" you paid for was the install of a muffler strap (per your approval) because your muffler was falling down. We are sorry that the issue was not fixed on your first visit, but you were credited the cost of that "repair" on your second visit to us. Since we had not heard from you in the in the past 5 months (until you wrote this review), we were under the impression that you were satisfied with the repairs done at that time. Our Service Manager has tried to call you a few times in the last few weeks, but has now received an email from you stating that you did not want to be contacted further.

Re: Merit's response: I DID send you a letter of complaint (addressed to the service center manager), immediately after I was there, I got no response whatsoever from you. My reason for the timing of this review is because I was on this site to review the dealer that I bought my new car from (a positive review by the way) and happened upon Merit by chance. What difference does my timing make anyway? Bad service is bad service. I find it very interesting that you called me the very day I put a negative review on this site - this site that is supposedly anonymous. How did you know who to call? My full name isn’t on this review. Had your employees simply shown some decent customer service to begin with, you could have saved yourself some time trying to get rid of a negative review, and possibly retained a customer. Too late now. As far as the “unnecessary repairs” I was referring to – I wasn’t talking about the muffler. I did not follow through on the advice I got for additional repairs, such as my brakes – which afterwards I was told by another service center did not need any repair. Not the first time I was told something needed to be done by Merit that was suspect. There always seemed to be some “additional recommendations.” As to the apology - I did not receive one until what you wrote just now, no matter what your employees are telling you. The exact words were: "oops, we guessed wrong." I remember because I thought it was the ultimate “brush off” of my concern. The words "sorry" never came from anyone's lips. If they had, and if you had simply given me a minor discount for my loss of time (I was without my car for two days because of your mistake – you’d think that would count for SOMETHING) we wouldn't be here. Lesson learned for both of us I guess. And no, I don't want to hear from you again. It is way too late for an apology and nothing you say now will make me remove my previous review. My response now is only to correct inaccuracies.
