I have bought a used car every year for the past 11 years and spent at least 2,000$ a year in fixing it. This time I went to the dealership and decided to purchase something with a warranty, something newer and spent at least 2,000$ a year in fixing it. This time I went to the dealership and decided to purchase something with a warranty, something newer, good on gas and reliable. I purchased a 2006 model car with 83,000 miles. It had everything I wanted. When I test the drove, it had just arrived and had not had the full inspection yet. I liked the car so much that I bought it the same day, despite a few mechanical issues it had with it. I took delivery a week later and on my way home, I noticed a few cosmetic and mechanical issues. I took it to my local mechanic to get the mechanical issues checked out. I was told by my mechanic that the car needed new rear pads. Although they passed inspection, the brakes very very low. I emailed Alan Singer and addressed my concerns with the mechanical issues. Alan contacted the service department and I was asked to bring the car back in and get not only the mechanical, but the cosmetic issues addressed as well. The expediency of his request was up to par, probably one of the better dealerships I've dealt with. The issues were completely addressed and I am now very happy with the purchase. The sales team worked with me to get a good loan rate at my requested monthly payment. I purchased a warranty and have complete faith in the dealership's ability to honor it should any issues arise. I was looking to trade my car that I had less than a year and I went back to where I bought it and they wanted $2,500.00 down and when I said no tried to get me to lease. I went to Merchants after checking the website and seeing a couple vehicles I liked. They gave me over book value for my car and was able to get into a newer vehicle for the same payment with a better interest rate. i would recommend Merchants to anyone looking for a vehicle. More

Spent over $25,000 for a used car that after 3 weeks sounds like a train chugging along. I was told during the purchase that it was still under manufacturer's warranty, which was not true. Brought it in to Merchant's Service Dept. to be looked at and was told "It must be the tires, because everything looks okay. But yeah, that car shouldn't sound like that, it's extremely loud, and there's nothing we can do about it". Now I have to go out and buy new tires on an expensive used car that I haven't even made a payment on yet. All in all the whole experience wasn't great. The positives are: first oil change is free, and free Inspections while you own the car. Not enough to make me a repeat customer, I'll definately go somewhere else when I purchase my next vehicle. I was offered $500 less for my trade-in based on kbb. The loan for the vehicle that I was going to purchase would have been $7850 with my trade-in, but since my credit was bad, they could only secure me abou loan for the vehicle that I was going to purchase would have been $7850 with my trade-in, but since my credit was bad, they could only secure me about 20% interest rate (which I found a much better rate at another dealer). Jim showed me that the payments would have been $250 per month for 60 months!! When I did the math using a loan calculator it should have been about $207. Their other offer was a 13% rate if I purchased their extended 3/36 warranty, and my monthly payments would have been $350 for 42 months!! I did the math on this as well with the loan calculator, and the only way the monthly payments would have worked out to be so high is they ADDED $4000 TO THE LOAN!! I called Jim back the next day, and he gave me "well there's gap insurance and fees...blah blah blah". Nice try. Make sure you use a loan calculators before you do anything at Merchants Auto. I obviously didn't do the deal. More
