Repair of Sprinter 3500 WWhile the ambiance of the dealership is spectacular and the customer service and communication is great, the costs for labor and parts are overpriced WWhile the ambiance of the dealership is spectacular and the customer service and communication is great, the costs for labor and parts are overpriced. This vehicle is essentially a work truck, not a high-priced luxury automobile. They replaced a RR wheel sensor ($227 parts and $247 labor). I later noticed that I was charged $6.99 EACH for 10 cable ties ($69.90 + tax total). I should have complained on the spot but didn't notice the excessive charges on that line item until I got home almost two hours later. I also was experiencing a fuel filter warning light that would resolve itself after I drained the filter (no sign of water in the line) but which returned on the way to the dealership. They performed a drain and read the code which indicated a replacement was needed. The service department then quoted me a price of $468 to perform the replacement. I declined because I felt I was being over-charged for a simple service. I bought the same filter on-line for $77 and removed/installed it myself in one-half hour with no special tools or added parts. This is not rocket science. I feel that the follow-up process on the maintenance work is lacking. When I was returning home with the vehicle I noticed the charging cord that is normally in the cigarette lighter/power outlet was removed and when I tried to charge my phone, it was no longer working as it had when I drove to the dealership. I am assuming that when the technician used the battery maintainer they damaged it. In addition, I found the OBD port was open and the cover for that panel under the dash was open and hanging down. I am not certain if the latch for the panel is broken but it is certainly hard to secure it in place now. The service department should do a better job of making certain nothing is broken during the maintenance nor out of place in the vehicle before the customer leaves the lot, and that the customer has no issues to resolve after the fact. The star rating system accompanying the review reflects satisfaction with the high level of customer interaction but also recognizes the overcharging and lack of care as they wrap up the maintenance work. It costs the dealership relatively little and it is so easy to be attentive to the customer and for that we are appreciative. But, ultimately, what a customer really wants is to leave the dealership feeling that they can rely on the repair or maintenance to be skillfully completed and that the charges are reasonable. Because I do not feel that I got my money’s worth nor that the work was excellent, I doubt I will be returning to Mercedes Benz of Seattle for any further work. More
10k check I came in for my 1st 10k check/maintenance. Everyone in the service center was great. I did, however, when I called to make the appointment request I came in for my 1st 10k check/maintenance. Everyone in the service center was great. I did, however, when I called to make the appointment request a loaner car and was told loaners weren't provided for the 10k check. I ultimately spoke to a manager and got a loaner but I think your policy is ridiculous. I paid $90k for a car - you can give me a loaner for the day without having to beg. More
