Good morning, After investigating your concerns, we found that your vehicle was scheduled for an intermittent transmission concern. The notes indicate that you originally took your vehicle to a non-Mercedes-Benz authorized dealer and wanted a second opinion on their diagnosis. You were quoted a diagnostic fee by our team and approved the diagnostic work. Our technician perform a road test of the vehicle and electronic testing of the transmission systems. You were provided an estimate for replacing the transmission by our service advisor where no change in pricing of the estimate occurred. After the estimate was provided, you declined the replacement of the transmission. In regards dash cam, dash cams cause battery draws which can interfere with diagnosing the vehicle properly. These must be disconnected in order diagnose the vehicle properly. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us directly at 503-273-8035

As you can see, the response from Mercedes-Benz of Portland fails to address the reported problem of bait-and-switch pricing. The problem was that after I was on the hook for the diagnostic fee, their price on the transmission change went up by several hundred dollars. I had the transmission replaced at Mercedes-Benz of Yakima instead, where the price was lower and the people were honest and reasonable. Well worth the drive to Yakima to avoid the xxxxxxxx at Mercedes-Benz of Portland.
