On November 18th, we had an appointment at Mercedes-Benz of Hilton Head to fix a recall. Unfortunately something unexpected occurred causing us to have to reschedule. Abigail Mitchell, even when busy, is al of Hilton Head to fix a recall. Unfortunately something unexpected occurred causing us to have to reschedule. Abigail Mitchell, even when busy, is always professional and helpful; made an inconvienent situation for us better. We live an hour away. She offered that the dealership have someone pickup our car, from our home, and return it after the service was completed. Her going above and beyond warrants her to be recognized by myself, the customer, and hopefully by her employer. James and Lottie Chaplin More

Mon, Nov 18 at 1:47 PM The experience was horible. I broke down in my Sprinter motorhome, paid $1167 dollars to be towed to this dealership. I was traveling from my summer home in VT to my ho horible. I broke down in my Sprinter motorhome, paid $1167 dollars to be towed to this dealership. I was traveling from my summer home in VT to my home in Daytona Beach FL, Myself,wife,3 golden retreivers, old Maine Coon cat, and at least half of our worldly possesions on board.. This Dealership misdiagnosed the problem and ordered an ignition switch, which all they coud tell me is that it was on back order. When I checked into the dealership, I explained to the service advisor that I had been in contact with my Sprinter mechanic at my home MB dealership in Daytona Beach, who's opinion was that the problem was probably the steering lock, but naturely could not confirm without having the opportunity to use test equipment. I took a few days of their trying to locate the ignition switch part, during which I was living in their parking lot, unable to roll. I filed a case with Mercedes USA and was told that the ignition switch was on worldwide backorder, with no idea when it might be available. Since I had to get back to my home in Florida as soon as possible, I had no choice but to have my vehicle towed to my Mercedes dealer in Daytona Beach, costing me another $2500 for the tow. My Mercedes dealer in Daytona Beach did a more through test, and found the steering wheel lock defective, igniion switch functioning OK, and had me up and running in 2 days. Hilton Head Mercedes charged me $271.40 for their service...of misdiagnosing the problem! This whole process cost me a lot of Aggravation,Time and Money. Obviously this dealer does not employ an experienced Sprinter mechanic, which does not make sense to me, as there are a xxxx of a lot of Sprinter chasis running around out there.. While I was disappointed by their treatment of my problem, I would have been even more upset if I had followed their recommendation to leave my RV with them, wait for the part, for God only knows how long, only to find that it was not the problem afterall, I would NEVER do business with Hilton Head Mercedes again! This Mercedes dealership has let me down big time. Thank God my home dealership in Daytona Beach came to the rescue, but it was about a week and a half too late. More
