It’s a shame that the Mercedes dealership closest to my home, is still one of the worst dealerships in the area. While I’ve had a negative experience three years prior with them, my most recent one takes t home, is still one of the worst dealerships in the area. While I’ve had a negative experience three years prior with them, my most recent one takes the cake. I came to Mercedes-Benz of Covington to place an order for an incoming 2022 C300, and was told that I would need to place $5,000 down in order to reserve the vehicle, which should have only been $1,000, however this is when they began to take advantage of a younger buyer. When it came time to do a trade-in, they only offered $31,000 for the vehicle, which was $3,000 less than the KBB average, and below what other Benz dealerships offered me. They tried to reason with me, saying that the tax credit would make up for the remaining $2-3,000, using that as an excuse to boost their commission. Even when providing Kelly Blue Book reports and offers from other dealerships in the area, I was told that I could sell my vehicle where I wanted to, because the vehicle was not worth KBB trade-in value, despite being garage-kept and in excellent condition. When I asked my sales advisor (Lynn) and the new car sales manager (Kyle) multiple times for out the door / monthly estimates for the notes (leasing v. financing), they refused to give them to me, telling me that I could do all of that in the finance room when my car arrived. This was the classic bait-and-switch waiting to happen, yet another way they would attempt to take advantage. Earlier this month they were caught adding $3-5k on-top of MSRP of their vehicles until they were called out for it, so these shady practices seem to be a common technique used by their team. I am saddened that I have to go to Mercedes of New Orleans in order to get the vehicle I want, with no bulls*t attached. However, seeing as how the New Orleans dealership hasn’t given me any of the issues that the Covington dealership has, it makes me wonder why I even went to Covington in the first place. More
