Santa Fe dealer determines what the problem is but can’t get the part (over a weekend) for 4 days. After 4(!) calls to the Melloy service department we are assured they have the part and can put it in if we get right there. Drive 65 miles to abq just to be told they had sold the part! No apologies - the tech first tried to blame us by saying he was waiting for a call back from us (not true, we told him we were coming) and then claimed that he couldn’t have saved us the trip because he didn’t know the part had been sold. That’s the trouble right there. No one at Melloy seems to know what anyone else is doing. Terribly disorganized! And to add insult to injury, when we went to leave, they gave us the wrong keys! More
Treated like a kid So I decide I want to buy something quick, something that when I press the gas, I get thrown back in my seat and get an adrenaline rush. So first thin So I decide I want to buy something quick, something that when I press the gas, I get thrown back in my seat and get an adrenaline rush. So first thing that comes to mind is a challenger, not that they aren’t crazy common but they seem a little more enthusiast then a mustang or a camaro. So I think I’ve seen a ton of Melloy Dodge and should start there. So I call set up a test drive for a challenger and arrive, I get greeted pretty early on so they were on that and made sure I was helped. The obnoxious thing is that I started the phone call asking to test drive, I wanted to compare this car to the rest of my experiences with cars. So they take my license and have some guy who is more confident then the salesperson to come talk to me. He says I’m basically to young and dumb to drive one of their cars so unless I have full coverage insurance, than it’s not gonna happen. So I get my insurance company to agree to pay if I crash the car and go on a test drive. They tell me to go easy on a “performance” car, and put it in eco mode so I can’t really feel the car out. Post test drive, car has terrible visibility feels boaty, isn’t the kind of speed I want. I go over to two other dealership, ford and Chevy, with in 5 minutes of being there at both dealerships I am allowed to test drive a mustang 5.0 and a 2ss Camaro. Didn’t even check my license or insurance, which I had, kind of seems to me like challengers are so dangerous they aren’t confident in letting people drive them, I’m going to be going with the Camaro based of the way I was treated. I had the money and the experience, should have had a little trust in me, you lost me and I won’t ever be buying a dodge, trash quality, overweight, overprice, and ugly interior. The mustang I drove had 10x the features and beautiful interior wasn’t recycled from the last year and wasn’t the same as all the other cars of the same brand. More

The windshield wipers also didn’t work when I got it back. The Dodge rep at Melloys had the list of repairs done but when I told him that I thought it needed an oil change he didn’t mention that the other Dodge just did one including the oil filter change days ago which was on the list. He billed me $77 for another oil change and filter. They didn’t put a sticker in the window as to when to change the oil so I pulled back around to the oil change bays and they said they never changed the oil on my truck. The guy showed me that there is a button on my steering wheel that shows that my oil is 100 percent good and not close to needing a change. I called the service manager who was very rude and said they bent over backward fixing my truck today...making the repairs they were paid to do by the other Dodge that caused the issues...and he said they weren’t going to refund me for the oil change that I obviously didn’t need. The odd part is that we are selling our truck and buying a new one and we already had spoken to the sales dept about the features we wanted on the new one as soon as we sell it at CarMax. We certainly won’t be buying it from this Dodge. More

Deceptive sales tactics and poor business ethics I just moved to town and am in the market for a used truck purchase and had my eye on a 2014 Dodge Ram with ~44,800 miles on it that was listed on the I just moved to town and am in the market for a used truck purchase and had my eye on a 2014 Dodge Ram with ~44,800 miles on it that was listed on their website yesterday evening for $20,995. After performing my research and looking at the VIN and other dealerships, I gave this one a call at 4:15pm and again at 4:25pm and spoke with Larry expressing my interest to purchase the truck and if they still allowed people to take cars home overnight. He said only if there’s obvious interest in purchasing, and asked me if I could come in that day. I called my cousin who is an Albuquerque native and a local business owner to help me during my first car purchase from a dealership. We had a show to go to at 7:00pm so we had to reschedule to come first thing Sunday morning instead. As soon as we get to the dealership, a salesmen named Raul greets me and I inform him of the truck I’m looking for that I’ve seen online already and he gets the keys while I wait for my cousin to arrive. It’s not until we are halfway through the test drive that we are informed the price I had been given already is not the actual price, and that he will have to speak with his manager... we find out the car is now listed at $8,000 more! This is after we drove down to the dealership and took the car on a test ride. We return to the dealership and ask to speak with the manager, Chris, directly. Raul proceeds to tell us it was not an in-house error and the result of a 3rd party doing’s error, and that the manager will not be able to honor the price. We say that is ridiculous and sounds like some shady business practice going on. We suggest they honor the price and go after the errors and omissions policy of the 3rd party error then if there was a mistake on their behalf and make good on this. (If it was truly a pricing error and not a bait & switch) We ask to speak with Chris directly about the matter. Chris comes in and then tells us it was he, himself, who made inputted the price, and now he has changed the price because he realizes it is under marker price, and he will not honor it at all. I would avoid the shady and deceptive sales practices of this dealership. I am consulting legal advice now in order to file a suit with the Attorney General’s office which protects Consumers with the “Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act“. This seems like an open and shut case of goading consumers to visit the dealership and bait and switching them to pay a higher price than they originally intended. Tried to squeeze alot of money from me for a design issue I found that when something went badly wrong with my Dodge truck due to an engineering problem with the engine, Melloy Dodge was far more interested i I found that when something went badly wrong with my Dodge truck due to an engineering problem with the engine, Melloy Dodge was far more interested in trying to squeeze every dollar (thousands, actually) they could out of me rather than trying to make right a wrong. The Technical stuff: The engine on my truck failed before it hit 100,000 miles, due to a known engineering issue with my particular engine. It was the year they went to aluminum heads on the 4.7 Magnum, and apparently they didn’t build the ports big enough, making them prone to clogging, eventually resulting in a blown head gasket. When the head gasket goes it dumps the engines coolant into the oil sump, which then ruins all the bearings etc, so the entire engine has to be replaced. It is a very common problem with that particular motor, usually occurring between 70,000 and 100,000 miles, The engine and drive train were originally warranted for 60,000 miles. My Story I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT 4X4 crew cab pick up truck. It has a lot of extra things added onto it over the years, nerf bars, tow package; rhino bed liner, a Thule boat rack, etc. It had less than 100,000 miles and was well maintained, regular oil changes, tune ups, etc, I use the truck mostly to go camping, and I was afraid of getting stuck in the woods, so I looked after it very carefully. I had it towed to Melloy Dodge from my house when it had trouble starting and was blowing white smoke out the exhaust. It sat there for a couple of days and then I received a call telling me that the engine needed to be replaced (Essentially they looked at the oil dipstick, saw the coolant in it, knew exactly what happened, easy diagnosis. They told me they estimated the cost of the engine replacement with a remanufactured long block would be $7100.00. I was pretty upset. They told me they would have a salesman call me to ‘see what he could do’. I started making my own calls for repair estimates at other places in the meantime. The salesman called, I was offered 1000 dollars trade in on a new truck. That was $1000 for my 4 wheel drive, crew cab, SLT truck, with less than 100,000 miles. The aftermarket add ons, used were worth more alone if I sold them used on Craigslist. There was no other discussion about discounts or deals on a new truck, at a time when they are offering 15 percent discounts on them internet. So I could overpay for a new truck, because my current Dodge didn’t make it to the 100,000 mark. I called 5 other shops for estimates on an engine replacement, All but one of those estimates were in the 4-6 thousand dollar range. The one that wanted 9500 was in a wealthier area of town, and probably used to robbing desperate customers, much like Melloy. I ended up just buying my own remanufactured engine and having it installed, and ended up paying less than $3500, using the shop on KAFB and its experienced ASE Certified Mechanics. The engine Remanufacture, the shop selling it (Advance Auto), and the Shop on base still all made money off of the deal, a reasonable profit. The cost included a new clutch and water pump, since the engine was already out. So Melloy intended to charge me over double for my engine replacement, taking advantage of my distress, caused by their engineering flaw. Or rob me selling me a new truck. The story doesn’t end there. While my truck was on their lot, my Thule boat rack was stolen from off of the truck bed. I found out a few days after it was towed to KAFB from the dealership. I thought it was likely the tow company. I saw the truck at Melloy with the rack still on it, and when I checked up on it at KAFB the rack was gone. The shop at KAFB takes pictures of incoming vehicles to protect themselves, and provided me of the tuck as it came into the shop. I called Melloy to try and get their camera footage, since the lot there is presumably covered by cameras. I was forwarded to the Service Supervisor. I asked him to look at the footage. “We only keep our video for seven days” He said. “It was Saturday” I said “We only keep our video for 5 days.” He said, immediately. “Saturday was 4 days ago” I responded. “We only cover until 11 on Saturday.” Another immediate response. “Great,” I said, “That is when they would have arrived to pick up the truck” “We only have footage from 930 that night” So you can see where that went. I was obviously, blatantly lied to. They just did not want to even bother looking. I was not worth their time. I called the front and was directed to the Customer Service Liaison. I told her my story. She checked into my situation and called back. The Service Manager says that the video doesn’t go back that far, repeating what I had already told her. So, I will never look to Melloy Dodge for service again, and certainly do not trust them enough to ever buy a vehicle from them. It kind of sucks, because I like Dodge, but what can I do? More
