I would recommend this dealer, but had to think about it before finally deciding "yes". Additionally, when its time for me to buy another vehicle, Mel Hambeleton probably won't be my first stop. CUSTOMER SERVICE: I rated this category "Ok" primarily because we arrived at Mel Hambelton at approximately 10:30am and didn't leave until 4:30pm. It took us about 1.5 hours to negotiate the deal (sale price, rebates, trade-in value, credit check, etc.) which was fine, but then we sat for 2.5 hours waiting to speak with Shawn Matthews in financing; unacceptable! I was ready to leave, but our initial experience with Stephen and Alan was pleasant enough to keep us there. If it wasn't for Alan Spencer we would have left, he was great to work with! QUALITY OF WORK: I haven't had any work done on my new truck, but do have some comments about the service department. Shawn Sanders seemed very sincere about making our future service experiences pleasant (I purchased a service plan), more comments below. When I purchased my truck I was owed a driver's side sun visor (this was missing), nitro in the tires, and a drop-in bed liner. Two weeks was the earliest I could get in to get those items; I was told they were waiting for the sun visor. If the sevice department was truly concerned about customer satisfaction, one week should be the maximum time frame a customer should have to wait for paid items, more than that is too long! FRIENDLINESS: No major issues here. Everyone we dealt with was friendly, am not convinced Shawn Matthews was genuine, see comments below. OVERALL EXPERIENCE: I rated this category "ok" mainly due to the wait time before speaking with Shawn Matthews. Another thing that I was not happy with in regards to Shawn Matthews is that when we were negotiating the extended warranty/service plan he initially had 72 months/100,000 miles for the extended warranty and when I said "no", he said "Ford will allow me to do 84 months/100,000 miles". This seemed a little shady to me that he didn't start with 84 months. I also question that he was truly working to get the best financing possible. I know that I have excellent credit and can't believe that I wouldn't qualify for 0% interest that was being offered by FMC. Instead, he told me "taking the $5500 in rebates was the better option" and didn't explain it further. I'm not a mathmatician, but $7000 that I'm paying in interest versus $5500 that I recieved in rebates, well you do the math; I should have pressed this issue harder! Also, he did not provide me with a copy of the extended warranty/service plan that we negotiated. I will be calling Mel Hambelton back to inquire about this to make sure what he and I negotiated will be honored. I will not deal with Shawn Matthews again! PRICE: Very happy with the negotiated price on the truck that I bought. Again, thanks to Alan for working hard to get me a fair price! As for the financing and extended warranty/service plan, still questioning that I made the right decision. Some final comments about this dealer: 1) While we were waiting to speak with Shawn in financing I noticed one thing that was very disturbing and feel obligated to share. I watched a salesman walk out of the men's restroom without washing his hands and proceded to the lot to greet a customer. Very unprofessional and flat-out disgusting! 2) Lastly, this might not be a big deal to some guys, but it is to me! My wife ordered a new Toyota three years ago (very good buying experience) and at that time we agreed that I could buy a new truck when the timing was right. Now was that time; however, for some reason Stephen Broadus (saleperson) thought it was alright to put this truck purchase in her name, me being the co-signer. I didn't think much of it at the time, but now that she has been recieving all the correspondence from this truck purchase, it really doesn't feel like "my truck". Stephen, don't assume that it's ok to do this, some guys like to call things there own; especially their first new truck! More

Was just looking at first and the first sales associate that saw me came up and greeted me and asked me if I needed any help and I told him not right now and that I was just looking. I didn't really see any Fusions that I was interested in, I thought the ones that I saw were a bit pricey. As I was getting ready to walk out I saw this Fusion up by the entrance door and glanced at it. Mir Rahman then approached me with a very friendly attitude and he was not pushy at all. He unlocked the car for me to look at and offered a test drive. As we were in the car driving, he showed me every gadget possible in the car. He then told me that he had owned a 2006 Fusion and that he loved his. When we returned we started looking at prices and what I could afford. Mir worked with me on the price. He came down on his price because he wanted my sale. I would recommend Mir Rahman as a sales man to anyone. The overall experience was a great one! More

This was my first purchase from Mel Hambelton, and the experience was excellent. I had visited the lot on several different Sundays, and pretty much knew exactly what I wanted, but running into Todd Willi experience was excellent. Todd was great from the first greeting until the final goodby when my wife drove away in our new 2010 Escape. He was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the vehicle's of which I was interested, and answered every question that I could think of, and then some. Taking a test drive with Todd was like taking an enjoyable ride with a good friend, and the whole sales purchase experience itself could not have gone better. The 2500.00 Ford rebate and Mel Hambelton's Tires for the life of the vehicle when serviced with them, certainly helped my buying decision. Todd's followup calls after the sale, just showed again how much they really care about their customers. Gabe in Finance worked to get me a finance interest rate that I felt was fair, and I certainly appreciate his open and honest efforts to move everything along as quickly as possible. I've worked for KAKE-TV for almost 38 years and have met many different sales people, advertisers, and seen millions of car commericals, but I must certainly say that my hat is off to Mel Hambelton, and Todd Williams, he's got to be one of the best people working at Mel Hambelton, not just because of his salesmanship abilities, but because he's a genuine good person, someone you'd by glad to sit down and talk with and have as a friend. When you walk into Mel Hambelton's showroom, and you're looking for help, I'm sure there's many a good salesman on staff to assist, but if you're looking for someone who feels just like a good friend, then ask for Todd Williams.
