Took Advantage of Hurricane Harvey Victim I am a victim of Hurricane Harvey that hit Houston in summer 2017. I was fortunate enough to get out of Houston the day the hurricane hit. I drove my I am a victim of Hurricane Harvey that hit Houston in summer 2017. I was fortunate enough to get out of Houston the day the hurricane hit. I drove my family to Little Rock to avoid the disaster and get lodging. My area had become a new waterway in Houston. On the drive, my car started overheating due to the bumper-to-bumper drive in100 degree plus heat. Luckily, I was able to open the heat vents to relieve some of the heat off the engine and get the car to Little Rock. That was a very hot and scary drive. I looked up Nissan dealers on the Internet and found McLarty Nissan. The next morning, I called the service department and talked to Ben about my car. He told me to bring it to him. I did, and he had it looked at and told me that I would have to leave my car for a few days because the part had to be ordered. I left the car and rented a rental from them. Ben called me a couple days later and told me my car was ready. When I got there, he told me that they had to replace my water pump and asked me if I wanted to go back in the service area and see the bad one that was taken off the car. I told him no. I trusted him because he seemed very professional. I paid the almost $800 bill and drove off. I didn't even pay attention to every line on the bill. I was happy with my experience with McLarty. That all changed when I got back to Houston. My family and I were staying in a hotel room provided by FEMA, and I was talking to a FEMA rep about the trip. She told me to turn in the receipt for my car repair for reimbursement, and I told her ok. Looking at my receipt, I noticed that the water pump was not shown. The only thing that was shown was a thermostat assembly. I knew this would cause alarm and not support the large amount that I paid. I called Ben at McLarty and asked him to send me a corrected receipt showing that I had the water pump replaced. He emailed me a copy of the very same receipt. I called him again, and he said he would get it taken care of. The way McLarty was acting, I got to thinking that maybe they didn't change the water pump, so I took it to a Houston dealer and asked them to look at my car and tell me if the water pump had been changed. They told me there was a new one on the car. That made me feel good that I had not been swindled. However, it made me wonder why McLarty wouldn't correct the receipt. I kept calling trying to get this resolved with no luck. Ben had told me about eight times that McLarty would take care of my problem. I told Ben that I was running out of time to turn in the receipt. On the last day available for me to turn in the receipt to FEMA, I called McLarty and talked to Ben. I told him that I would really appreciate it if I could get that receipt because it was my last day. Ben told me he would get it to me. I told him that I wouldn't be calling him again about the matter. I couldn’t believe that I had been asking for this receipt for over four months. Ben didn't send me the receipt, and I haven't called him. FEMA denied my request. Now Ben and McLarty don't have to dodge my phone calls anymore because I won't be calling them. If I ever have car trouble when I'm in Little Rock, I'll pay to have my car towed back to Houston. The businesses there are honest and know how to treat their customers in Houston. More
Worst experience EVER!! Once you buy the car you can NOT get anyone to call you back. The salesman told me the dealership would pay the sales tax, instead they rolled it into my payments. The loan they arranged was for 6.45%, double the going rate--and, they get a piece of that! I wanted to talk to someone about it, but can't get anyone to call me back. When I went in person, there was only buck passing and I was told I misunderstood. No attempt to work on this problem or take any responsibility!!! Their customer service manager, Tammy, was supposed to call me--hasn't happened. How can I trust these folks to honor my service agreement and take care of my car--I CAN'T! I would like to cancel it, but I can't get anyone to call me back to do that. So disappointing that this dealership would live up to the stereotype of a used car dealer. More
