I Drove 50 miles from Quad Cities, Picked up vehicle the day it was delivered. They were straight up with me over the phone (versus other dealers not so much), They called me as the said they would morning day it was delivered. In this chip shortage world, I knew I had to be quick. Drove up in morning, gave them info for a credit app, came back with spouse at 3pm, by 3:45, Salesman was showing us our new highlander features. By 4:30pm we were on our way home. Sadly, the sales staff is saddled with the worst service department I have ever experienced. We only go for service when forced to such as in the case of factory recalls. Every time is an exercise in carel department I have ever experienced. We only go for service when forced to such as in the case of factory recalls. They had the car all day Tuesday and at 5 we called THEM although they promised to call us when the car was done. “Oh yes, it’s finished”. By then it was too late for us to get there. We purchased a used vehicle from Toyota of Iowa City based on recommendations of family and friends who live in the Iowa City area, They gave it high marks, so we drove down from the Quad Cities to pur based on recommendations of family and friends who live in the Iowa City area, They gave it high marks, so we drove down from the Quad Cities to purchase a vehicle. Had the car for a week, noticed an oil leak after they had changed the oil. Took it to a local repair shop and they said the oil filter was cracked. Complained to Toyota, and they did pay for that. Two weeks later we notice that the brakes were squeaking and that that it was making a whining sound in the engine. This is after Toyota IC had fixed the back brakes (among other things) before selling it to us. Again, took it to a repair shop and were told that the front brakes needed to be repaired and that the alternator needed to be replaced. Supposedly Toyota did an "inspection" of the car before selling it to us. If they fixed the back brakes, why didn't they fix the front, and notice the other issues? We have had the car less than a month. Toyota of Iowa CIty refused to cover these expenses as they said we bought it as is. We've had the car less than 30 days. I don't expect a used car to be perfect, but I also don't expect to dump over $1,000 into the vehicle 3 weeks after buying it, That says a lot about thier service department and dealership. Again, we bought this car based on the "Good" reputation they have in the IC area. We asked to speak with a sales manager and/or owner and got the run-around from staff. Never actually was able to speak with either at any time; just the salesperson. Based on this experience, we will never purchase a car here again and will stick with the Toyota dealership in the Quad-Cities, with whom we have never had a problem. Highly doubt they will put this review on their review website. More
