Old school sales tactics Sorry but things have to change here. While car dealers lowballing customers on trade is still all too common even in this day and age of the internet Sorry but things have to change here. While car dealers lowballing customers on trade is still all too common even in this day and age of the internet and all the pricing information you could ever want, this place goes beyond the norm and is a throwback to the old school days of car sales. We drove down from the Twin Cities to look at a BMW after talking to a salesman on the phone. I had given him the details on my trade and asked him to give me a ballpark figure, it was enough to make us go down and take a look. Fortunately, we had others to look at in the area because even though I have done car deals over the phone before with minimal hassle, I know plenty of salesmen will say what it takes to get you in the door. Sure enough, when we got down there and started talking numbers, the salesman said "well I guess we're a little off of what I said on the phone", and we were offered HALF of the NADA trade value that I was quoted. This on a pristine BMW trade in - which they even admitted all while trying to offer a ridiculous price. Incredible. The offer was even hugely less than the Kelley Blue Book and what the car would wholesale for at Mannheim Auctions, (verified through a friend in the business.) Even if they had dumped it off at the auction and not even bothered to sell it, they would've made $4000 instantly on the trade alone. The tactics were so predictable and antiquated it was laughable. The salesman got out his "worksheet", said "If I get the figures you want will you buy the car"? "Fine initial here", trying to gain commitment and make you feel like you had bought the car at the price you wanted, etc, etc, etc, I felt like I had stepped into a time warp and had been suddenly transported back to 1980. Please. I knew they had the car we were interested in on the lot for 3 months and they were eager to get rid of it, the price had dropped $6000 over that period and so I stuck to what I wanted to get for the trade, about $4500 more than their initial offer and in the end wound up buying the vehicle. So I would say this. If you had offered me a reasonable price in the first place instead of making me feel like some kind of sucker, I would have seen you trying to be respectful and I probably would have ended up paying more for the vehicle. As it was, I was so insulted that I was less willing to give up more on the deal. This place is a Ford dealership also and I dont know if this is more common with domestic brands or if this is a small town stuck in the past thing, but I expect more and have received more in my past purchases of 4 BMWs. If you buy here, do your homework or you will be taken. I will never patronize this place again, instead I will wait for the vehicle that I want at a dealer that has already treated me with respect and decency. More
Take your money Elsewhere!!! Dont waste your time. Did a car deal with them last year and notified them i wasnt happy with the car a day later and they would not help in any way. Dont waste your time. Did a car deal with them last year and notified them i wasnt happy with the car a day later and they would not help in any way. Went in to discuss the matter and they wouldnt work with me even though on the phone they said they would. I wanted my trade in back because there wasnt anything else on their lot that i wanted. Now i know their job is to sell vehicles but first should be customer service. Had rather heated arguments with their owner who couldnt care less about repeat business. Turned them in to the BBB of Iowa and the Attorney General of Iowa and they proceeded to get a lawyer involved instead of working with me. Cowards!! They would rather pay a lawyer(or already have one to handle cases like these) than to help make a customer happy. Told them I wouldnt be back and their response was "Well thats obvious". So they just want your money and dont care about customer service. And obviously i'm not the only oerson on here thats had issues with their smartass management and their ways of handling customers. These guys make Mcgrath's look like a top notch dealership!! More

worst service i have ever dealt with!! i bought a new f150 ecoboost in march. 4 months later it was heading to the shop with a broken crank shaft. 7000 miles and the motor was shot? i was e i bought a new f150 ecoboost in march. 4 months later it was heading to the shop with a broken crank shaft. 7000 miles and the motor was shot? i was expecting a crate engine and some xxxxxxx up for buying such a lemon. at first they were going to give me a short block. not a chance that would ever be acceptable. long story short lots of back and forth. best they could do a long block and reuse the turbos from the other engine. only took them 3 weeks to put it in too. 3 weekends with out my truck in the middle of summer. they told me that they don't loan out trucks. funny because the Chevy dealer right up the road does? so i got a xxx Hyundai. like riding in a beer can to sum that up. then when i finally get it back its covered in dust and oily hand prints on the inside. and the fuel light is on! i brought all this to their attention before i left. they assured me it would taken care of the next day. never got a call. its been 2 weeks and no one has said a thing. IF they had customer service i would say it terrible. i would walk past this place to buy a car somewhere else!! More
There is a reason they are the lowest rated in the state. I can't put into words how terrible their service center is. My power steering problems should have been a one day repair. It ended up being a NINE D I can't put into words how terrible their service center is. My power steering problems should have been a one day repair. It ended up being a NINE DAY REPAIR! I've never felt so helpless in my life. The list of excuses for the time delays included- shipping delays, an all employee meeting, they were sent the wrong part, the manufactured didn't have the part. etc. It was one thing after another. It took 9 days in the summer when they said they weren't that busy. Regardless of what caused the delays, the way I was treated was completely unacceptable. John S was very rude and tried to mislead me. My identity was stolen about a a year ago and dealing with John S at Zimmerman's brought back the same feelings of helplessness. It almost felt like they were holding my car hostage, calling me every day demanding more money. Multiple mistakes were made during my repair, they were all acknowledged and documented. I supposedly was given a discount for these delays, but the final price paid was about $50 more than what Billion quoted me after the fact. (I should have just gone to them first) More
Attention to detail poor and poor listeners Had my car in for repair and asked them to check a repair from another business that I was concerned about. They suggested a spark plug and fuel filte Had my car in for repair and asked them to check a repair from another business that I was concerned about. They suggested a spark plug and fuel filter...NOT cheap! Over $400..... Trevor gave me a lecture about not using E85 fuel. I never use any ethanol fuel in my car let alone E85. They told me to run a couple of tanks of gas through my tank. When asked if my car ran better they said yes. When I picked it up it ran terrible just like when I brought it in. Called back was told to bring it in. They had it a short time and again I said PLEASE verify the crankshaft Sychronizer was installed properly. An hr later was told the car was done. Picked it up and was told again I never ran 2 tanks of fuel in it. I said yes I did. Turns out they read the mileage wrong and thought aftter my last visit I had only put 130 miles on the car. Could not beleive the incompetency of this place. I spoke with the Service Manager Andy Anderson.... He did not have much to say...Offered me some money back but nothing more. I still have a terrible running car. I spoke with customer service and then after 2 weeks of calling finally got ahold of Paul Trovas who listened to the whole ordeal but again offered nothing. I told him I would never return after being treated this way. Mike a service advisor was suppose to call me too and never did and when I saw him he said my line was busy...Strange how they had my cell too and never called that.....after 5 days I finally called back myself..... POOR communication. Would never recommend the experts at Zimmermans as I use to think of them. More
n Oct. 2013 I decided to start looking for a new car. I decided to go with Zimmerman's. I was warned by family and friends not to go there, I obviously should have listened. The car type of car I wanted wa decided to go with Zimmerman's. I was warned by family and friends not to go there, I obviously should have listened. The car type of car I wanted was a car that was/is good in the snow and also pretty good on gas millage. I was told to go towards the Chrysler 200.. which was on my list of cars I liked. Justin, our sales man told is the car was great in the snow, good gas millage. Well we soon found out that "good in snow" was not the truth. The car doesn't even do well going up a wet hill let alone deal with a inch of snow. The process of the loan took six hours to complete. While signing the papers I addressed some issues with a scratch on the back trunk and the hub cap was peeling. The car sales man insured me that those issues would be addressed the following day when I got the car detailed. The following day I dropped off the car and was told it would take four hours to clean. Five hours passed and I still hadn't heard from the Zimmerman team so I called. Being a bit frustrated I talked to one of the sales members who helped our sale's guy, George who sold us the car he explained to me that he didn't know where my car was at.. when I voiced my frustration he told me I was having a bad day and no need to take it out on him. I wasn't having a bad day, just trusted with the customer service. I later picked up the car and the car had not been detailed and the issues with the exterior was not addressed either. One of the sales men came out and whipped the sticky stuff out and when I went to talk to someone in the office he told me to come back when I got my first oil change and he would comp me a free detail and those issues would be addressed. In Dec, 2013 I went to get my oil change and to have Zimmerman's do an estate on the hubcap and back scratches. When I got the car back the service department told me that my sales man would be in contact with me to tell me when I can drop off the car for it to be repaired. I never got a call. Today I went into Zimmerman's and once again it was a goose chase. I finally said let me talk to a manager. While talking to the manager he informed me that the cars issues had been fixed. I asked why am I here then if that's the case? Truth is it never was fixed. The manager in less words just called me a lair and said I could of caused more damaged, how juvenile. I offered to show him the car and he said I probably put them there myself. He then kicked me out of his office because he had other things to do. I later went to work and was pulled into my bosses office informing me that the Manager from Zimmerman's called and informed me that the manager informed my manager that one of his managers was in his store and caused some trouble while I was there. WOW.. not only do they not live by there word but now they just slandered my name.. did I say they did this at my job??? I work in customer service and if this is how they provide customer service then I will take my business else where. Very sad and very pathetic on Zimmerman's behalf. I def will be telling my friends and family not to go there and I hope no one else has to go threw with what I have. Good Luck More
This dealership engages in bait and switch practices and they don't follow through on deals. After I purchased a vehicle from them, they lowered the advertised/internet price on the vehicle I bought and lef they don't follow through on deals. After I purchased a vehicle from them, they lowered the advertised/internet price on the vehicle I bought and left it posted to grab the attention of potential buyers. They admitted they do this on all cars so that they can then direct potential customers to cars that they do have at higher prices. After I called them out on this they refused to fulfill their end of the bargain on our deal. They are not at all trustworthy. Do not do business with them! More
