My experience purchasing a used car at McGrath Hyundai could NOT have gone any smoother and could not have been any more positive. Francisco was the consummate salesman - never pressuring and always ther could NOT have gone any smoother and could not have been any more positive. Francisco was the consummate salesman - never pressuring and always there to answer questions. My first visit didn't result in a sale, to both our benefits. Both Francisco and Ed (sales manager) clearly understood my needs. They could have pushed hard to sell a car that was just beyond my needs, but instead, they asked if they could keep looking for the right vehicle that best suited my needs. Needless to say, the very next week, a vehicle arrived on their lot, and I was immediately informed of its availability. Francisco handled the negotiations from start to finish... no cleanup batter needed. I felt extremely happy with the out-the-door price we agreed upon, and I am now a proud owner of a Hyundai vehicle! The car had to have new tires, among some other checks, to be certified, and my experience with their service department the following week was just as smooth as my experience with their sales staff. I have already recommended McGrath Hyundai to a colleague of mine who is looking at purchasing a Hyundai, and I specifically recommended she work with Francisco. He is a great asset to the team! More
I live an hour away from McGrath City Honda/Hyundai. I do, and (will continue) to drive the 50 miles to this dealership for service and car purchases. I even pass 4 Honda dealerships on the way through Ch do, and (will continue) to drive the 50 miles to this dealership for service and car purchases. I even pass 4 Honda dealerships on the way through Chicago traffic. The service there is reminiscent of long forgotten era of "Make the customer happy, make it right." This "mantra" was once common place in the automotive world. There are a few outright memorable experiences I share when speaking of my interactions with the dealership to others. 1. Service department is fast and dead-on with searching and fixing the problem. I was explained what was going on and what needed to be done. Marlex, (forgive spelling, if wrong) was top notch. He explained to me that my wife's Odyssey needed brakes as well as what was being repaired under warranty and what it was going to cost. After leaving I called around my local repair shops and found I paid less for a full brake job at McGrath than I would have at a local shop. That was very eye opening. 2. Buying and financing my new(used)Lexus couldn't have gone smoother. Knowing my credit history and the blemishes on it. I was never once made to feel like I was going to have to "stand trial" to get decent financing. Frank, told me that this blemish is hurting me on getting a decent rate (Not like it was a surprise, I'm well aware of my dark financial past.) Then he says "Go grab a cup of coffee...let me work on somethings." I did, 20min later he comes back and tells me I'm being financed for lower than I expected. A good amount lower. Had me sign all the paperwork, shook my hand and said enjoy your new car. Last time I was in this position at another (never to go to again) dealership, the finance guy acted like he was doing me a favor. Acted like I shouldn't have even been in that dealership in the first place. That happened four years ago...But still, I never speak highly of that dealership and will never set foot in there again. 3. After parking my trade in next to my new car to transfer belongings. I stripped the bolt that held my license plate on. A porter who was busy getting everything ready for closing (It was very late). Took the time to help me get my plates off and mounted to the new car. Even running to his own car for a vice grip to use. I felt bad for taking up so much of his time. While I'm apologizing he interrupts me and assured me that none of this was a problem and is glad to make sure everything was done right, and what was he going to do, let me fidget with the stripped bolt all night. That was very cool. Today I made the 50mile drive into Chicago to have my wife's van looked at again for a different warranty issue, that turned out to be a recall. Again...Everything went smooth and I left feeling secure knowing that when I pick this van up. It will be better than when I brought it in. Great dealership, cool friendly people. Fresh ground coffee in waiting rooms. Bonus!!! More
Another bad experience had here! I went in on a Monday about 2p and looked around for about 20 minutes before anyone had ever acknowledged that I was there, and then he had the temerity to tell me that I about 2p and looked around for about 20 minutes before anyone had ever acknowledged that I was there, and then he had the temerity to tell me that I had to seek them out. Finally I got a salesman to walk over to the used car lot with me and i pointed out that I wanted to know the price on 5 cars and that I would decide which ones to test drive based on a price that fit into my budget. He told me that he could only get the price AFTER driving the car! xxx? I didn't want to waste time test driving a car that I couldn't afford. I told him that I wanted the price first on all five to save time and he made me wait in his hot cubicle for 20 minutes while he went to get the prices. Finally I walked outside to get some air and he followed me out there and I told him that he had 5 minuted to get me the prices on all cars or I'm walking. Finally he came back and had the info. Then he sat me down with his manager, jodi who quoted me a price on one that was $1000 over the internet price! I called him on his BS and he asked what he could do. At that point, I started to look at a new Sonata, I must be a glutton for punishment. I didn't want to finance a used car and apparently $8000 cash wasn't enough to buy a decent used car at this place. i found the car that I wanted and worked out a deal but I wanted to think about it so I left. On my way home, I called back and said that I was coming back with the $8000 and to get the car ready. Upon returning, everything was going smoothly until I met the finance guy, Steve I think. The large guy sat there and started telling me about "extras" and I asked for a price and list of these "extras" so when I came back I could save time and tell them what I wanted. he said, "It doesn't work like that" and that he "didn't know anything about the deal." I replied that my salesman was right there and that he could tell him all about the deal. he then said that he had to run my credit and I said fine but i want to know about these "extras" first. He told me that He couldn't tell me about them until he ran my credit. I asked why and he told me that the price depends on my credit. Why does an extended warranty a) differ from the same exact model of a car to another and b)differ in price based on credit. at this point, I told him that I wanted to see a list of all of the "extras" with their corresponding prices and that he would put that together while I walked back to the cashier and started to count my money and that if I finished counting before the list was ready, I was leaving. this was all at about 9:30 at night so the place was actually closed. I was now mad and the salesman sat there and watched me count the money and shook his head and finally asked me if i wanted to think about it. i could only reply that if he was standing next to me that he wasn't working too hard on that list. The finance guy was ready to let someone who had agreed to a deal and given them 45% down in cash on a new car walk? And walk I did. I never even heard back from the salesman asking to work through it later in the week. Would not recommend at all! More
Negotiating the deal with McGrath was a pleasant departure from the strong arm tactics or high pressure assaults from other dealers. They were very straight forward and didn't play any of the typic departure from the strong arm tactics or high pressure assaults from other dealers. They were very straight forward and didn't play any of the typical games. We found the car we were interested in on the internet - verified the relevant info on the phone - closed the deal in person - no muss no fuss. The most painful part was waiting for finance to free up the night we made our purchase - there seemed to be an endless parade of purchases that night. Guess thats a small price to pay for a good deal. Jody was definitely knowledgable and reasonable to deal with and the dealership seems to be committed to making each person a satisfied customer. After we drove our blue Elantra back home, we realized that our car didn't equip with bluetooth. At first Francisco showed us was a red Elantra, and he told us every Elantra in that parking area equips wi that our car didn't equip with bluetooth. At first Francisco showed us was a red Elantra, and he told us every Elantra in that parking area equips with bluetooth. After he let us taking a glance different colors Elantra, we picked a blue one. We are unhappy because the car without bluetooth should be cheaper than what we paid. We have to check every equipment we have been told. More

Terrain Thomas was the Salesperson that assisted with my purchase of a used Hyundai. I was there for a couple of hours, but it was really worth it. My credit wasn't the best and I also didn't have enough mo purchase of a used Hyundai. I was there for a couple of hours, but it was really worth it. The salesman was extremely polite and courteous. He made you feel the way customers should feel and tried talking to about things you both interest without seeming fake. He tried to work hard with you (and you feel the way customers should feel and tried talking to about things you both interest without seeming fake. The most pleasant new car buying experience I have had in years. Francisco was very easy to work with and was able to answer any questions I had about the 2011 Elantra I was looking at and its features. Ot years. Francisco was very easy to work with and was able to answer any questions I had about the 2011 Elantra I was looking at and its features. Other car salesmen I have encountered are only interested in getting you to sign on the dotted line. Fransisco wanted to make the sale a good experience. He was also very accommodating when we changed our minds on the color. Ed the sales manager came in with a decent price the first time and did not pressure me at all. Stu, the business manager explained the details of the loan and all our financing options. All in all a very good car buying experience. I would recommend McGrath City Hyundai and their staff to friends and family. More
