They uses bait and switch techniques, do not price cars on their lot so they can charge on a whim, add on costs they are unable to attribute to any service or product, assume people are idiots, and don't care when the customers leave unhappy. Do research on the product and the dealer before you go into any dealer. Ask for itemized costs of everything. Get everything that is said in writing. Full story: We found a used Hyundai Elantra we were interested in on Autotrader. As we live 90 minutes away, we called and spoke to Adam the "Internet sales manager" to verify the car was still available and were told yes. We were also told they had two cars of that make and model. We told him we'd be in the next day. On the way to Chicago we again called and spoke to Adam and were told the cars were available. When we arrived and got out of our car, the sales people descended! After being told Adam was busy, we worked with the first sales person. He said he'd bring one of the two cars out but not before trying to sell us a new car with financing. We were going to pay cash but did not discuss our financial intentions (if they know you are paying cash they lose a big incentive to work with you as much of their profit is in financing) When he brought the car out, he passed us on to a"partner" . The second sales person had to deal with us as we stood stunned to see that the car that we drove 90 miles to see, that had been shown online, had damage not shown in photo. We inquired about the second vehicle we were told they had, but were informed it had been sold. Sold in the first 20 minutes after opening?! I think not. The dealer then drove up another car with no evident price. We were told it cost several thousand more than the one we came to see. Not interested. We walked across the street to see other used cars. None of the cars in the lot had prices. We had some interest in the damaged car as it was not structural so we drove it. Upon our return we wanted to talk about the price as even the sales person acknowledged it needed at least $1500 in body work. The salesperson said that they had a "no haggle" policy like Carmax. "It's easier for you this way" he told us. "What you see is what you get- as is". Hmmmm. Right.... We inquired as to what the total cost would be on the damaged car. The salesperson took out a sheet of paper, wrote down the price listed online, added sales tax, title, license. Something was wrong with his calculations as this price was $1300 more than it should have been. When questioned, he passed us off to the used car sales manager who was incredibly rude and defensive when asked to explain the additional $1300. He told us there had been some damage to the car and he had taken care of most of it. We said, "If that is the best your shop can do, you got ripped off!" He did not care for that comment, and said we did not need to purchase a car from him. He ended the conversation. We returned to the sales person who asked what we wanted to do. I said we wanted the car at the advertised price, the "no haggle" price. Apparently "no haggle" means they won't lower the price but will feel free to add on any amount! The sales rep went back to his manager, came back, and said "You have a deal". He again itemized the price and was still adding a bogus $1000. We inquired what that covered, what repairs had been done. Back to the manager he goes. Upon returning he shows us a hastily created document with $800 for a battery, and $200 misc. fee. There was no indication this paper was even associated with any vehicle. At this point we were so insulted by the experience we easily got up and left, but not before telling them how sleazy their techniques are and how they should be ashamed of themselves. We headed for Chicago, had a great lunch, and had a few good laughs thinking what fools they made of themselves. More
My husband and I recently purchased a used car from this dealership. We dealt primarily with Terran and Carl, and they were both very professional, informative and friendly. This was the first car that my husband and I purchased together, so the whole experience was new to us and we were a little wary of being taken advantage of. As with any dealership, they are trying to make the most money they can, but I did not feel pressured by anyone and I think we got a very good car at an excellent price. With that said, I feel like we also did our research beforehand, so I would recommend that to get the best deal. Also, we did not realize how long the process of buying a car takes, so we were at the dealership 2-3 hours past closing. Even before we apologized for keeping them late, Terran and Carl did not seem to mind. Of course, I'm sure they are glad to be getting a sale, but they could have easily had bad attitudes about it. The McGrath dealership has a service shop on site and had inspected and done some work on our used car before we bought it. We had an independent inspection done right after we purchased the car and we were told that the rotors needed to be resurfaced. We contacted the McGrath dealership about this and they agreed to do the work free of charge. They were not obliged to do so and we appreciated the courtesy. During each step of the process, everyone we worked with listened to what we said and was attentive to our needs. Overall, we had a very good experience and would recommend them to others. More

After arriving, checked phone and received a text car (about half way there)was not there, "it's in detail" and would be there the next day. Offered a test drive in a new car, agreed since the one advertised was essentially new. After test drive was told the other car was in an accident and was encouraged to buy a new car. Did not come for a new car and was not playing this game. Was told that salesman will call me next day to tell me extent of damage. Came home and realized my drivers license was not in my wallet. It was not returned after test drive. Next day no call. Called manager and explained situation and was told would receive a call to explain damage to vehicle. After 3 calls back finally got the manager and was told that it was scratched in the car wash. Told my license would be returned back and would get a call when car was fixed. 6 days later no driver's license and no call about vehicle. Bait and switch! Unprofessional to say the least. More
I have bought about 5 new vehicles in the past 18 years; and I've been to several car dealerships in that time. I would have to say that the McGrath Crew was the best by far. I dealt with three sales guys and I've been to several car dealerships in that time. I would have to say that the McGrath Crew was the best by far. I dealt with three sales guys, all of them were very professional and respectful. They listened to what I wanted and didn't try to push anything that I didn't want... I had a great time test driving a few Hyundais and finally bought the one that I initially fell in love with. I would definitely recommend McGrath to all of my friends and family... Good Job Guys Sincerely, Sammy C. More

I've given all fives because everyone in the dealership worked with me and my credit to get a new car at 10:00 at night. From the saleman to the loan officer to the floor manager to the cashier. It was a long night but they didn't give up on me. Before even knowing if I qualified Lee (the salesman) treated my husband and I with much respect. He was extremely nice and welcoming to us both.
