I never received my initial survey when I purchased the car so I wanted to say a little something extra for my experience when purchasing my car. I first met your salesman, Terran, when my boyfriend was ge car so I wanted to say a little something extra for my experience when purchasing my car. I first met your salesman, Terran, when my boyfriend was getting an oil change on his car at this location about 5 months ago. I told him I was looking for my first car and gave him more detail as to what I wanted. I told him that I wasn't purchasing that day but he still treated me as if I were a paying customer. He gave my boyfriend and I both his card. I called a few weeks later and made an appointment with him. My boyfriend and I went in and he gave us amazing service and helped me pick the perfect car for me. Terran is such an asset to your company. He made me feel like I was more than just a paycheck to him; he truly cares about his customers. If Terran did not approach me the first time we met I would have continued looking at other dealerships. We instantly made a connection and now both my boyfriend and I come in and make sure we see him when we get oil changes etc. I have recently moved to Michigan but plan on coming back to this Chicago location just for Terran's service! My boyfriend and I love him! This company is very lucky to have this man on their team! He is the best! More
I came onto the used car lot and me and my mom were expecting the usual "used car guy" the salesman however was not. Terran didn't have a problem with running back and fourth across the busy street and expecting the usual "used car guy" the salesman however was not. Terran didn't have a problem with running back and fourth across the busy street and letting us test drive the car that we wanted without seeming judgmental. I did not feel pressured and he seemed to be truthful unlike some other dealers. I came back and purchased the next day thanks to good sales people. More

I looked far and wide for a used car after my vehicle was totaled out of state, finally I found the car I looked at from McGrath. I was greetd by Armi and then she handed me over to Frank to show me the vehi totaled out of state, finally I found the car I looked at from McGrath. I was greetd by Armi and then she handed me over to Frank to show me the vehicle. The vehicle was as advertised and Frank answered all my questions. They honored the price and even told me how to handle some insurance issues that may arrise. It was no hassle and I will recommend McGrath to anyone who asks. Just a great experience!!! More

I visited McGrath City Hyundai Saturday 12/01/2012 to look at a used 2011 Sonata that I had found on their website that morning. When I got to the dealer I told them which vehicle I was interested in an look at a used 2011 Sonata that I had found on their website that morning. When I got to the dealer I told them which vehicle I was interested in and the price I saw online ($14,552). The salesman, went to grab the keys and locate the car. He brought back a Sonata (not the one I asked to see). The vehicle I wanted to see had power seats, when I saw the manual seat I immediately stated that this was not the vehicle I asked to see. The salesman said it was essentially the same car with the exception of alloy wheels and power seats. He said the one that I saw online had been sold the previous Thursday. When I inquired about the price of this car, he told me it was the same that I saw online, $14,552. I kept looking and test drove the vehicle since neither of the two options were a deal breaker for me. Once I drove it I asked again about the price, the salesman said it was the same as the first vehicle I wanted to see (this should have been the first clue to the dealers tactics for selling used cars). When we got inside and started talking about purchasing the vehicle the salesman came back with a price of $15,700 much higher than the $14,552 for the vehicle that brought me to the dealership in the first place. I told the salesman that I didn’t want to waste his time and the best I could offer was 14,500 since that is what the first vehicle was. The salesman didn’t object and went off to talk to the sales manager, 10 minutes later the salesman came back with a piece of paper that said 14,500 + TTL (where I live tax is about 7% and fees in the state are ~500). There was a pre-marked X with a line for me to sign confirming that I agree to this price. The salesman then asked for the information to start the loan process and everything was fine until they started to model a price after a monthly payment. I asked for an itemized schedule that detailed out every fee I would be charged to purchase the car. I assumed this was straight forward, every other dealer I worked with in my car search has given this to me without hesitation; the salesman beat around the bush and just said the monthly payment would be ~ 230/mo * 60/mo. (This should have been red flag number two.) I had an app on my iphone that calculated auto loan payments. I input all the of the information we talked about 14,500 + tax + fees + interest and got a payment about 75/mo lower than the dealer was quoting – the salesman said I must has a broken calculator. He again had a pre-marked X on this paper to have me sign and stated that the finance department would fill in the tax, title and license fees. Fast forward to the loan closing process and when I got to the finance manager things just got worse. About halfway through signing all of the loan documents I got to the Truth in Lending document detailing the entire cost of the purchase. Somehow the purchase price before state document fees and sales tax was 16,900. It worked out to just over 20,000 to purchase the vehicle because of other hidden fees (none of which the dealer could itemize for me, even asking THREE times). How could the car go from $14,500 plus tax, title and license fees to $16,900 without the fees? No one was able to explain it. Needless to say, I objected and was first met with a “well that’s the monthly payment you agreed to pay” I wasn’t buying that. I said I agreed to 14,500 + TTL and they quickly mentioned something to the sales manager and said we we can no longer do that price. Both the finance guy and the salesperson stated that there were others fees associated with the price of the car (ie. the cost of their services they did prior to offering the car for sale which cost $830). I did not agree to have that added into the cost of the car. That wasn’t ever mentioned while negotiating. Even with the $830 cost added in, I still couldn’t come up with their total cost. From the time we agreed on the out the door price to the moment we sat in the finance office, there was an additional $3500 in fees (excluding tax, title and license) added on that no one could explain or itemize for me. I asked to see the original paper that I signed with the agreed “$14,500 + TTL” written on it. When that was shown, there were numbers written on there that were written after my signature. According to the finance guy, he had nothing to do with it, it was what the manager had written on there. Either way, neither the manager, salesperson or finance guy was able to give me an itemized list of the fees that they kept mentioning. I quickly wrote void on the paperwork and left. I would not recommend this dealer to anyone, it is dishonest. I ended up buying a similar 2011 Sonata (same day) from a different dealership for 15,500 + TTL and my payment was significantly lower with a 48 month term. (And my Iphone calculated the payment correctly and I was able to get the same numbers as the dealership.) Although my experience was not the best I was smart enough to realize what they were trying to do before it was too late. My fiancé and I look young but by no means stupid when it comes to car buying. My advice is to avoid this dealership but if you choose to purchase a used car here make sure to have them give you an itemized copy of all fees (and keep a copy on your person after you agree to it) while the salesman disappears to go talk to the sales manager. Also, pay close attention to the truth in lending form. More
Christine is a wonderful person to work with, she is courteous, respectful and knows how to treat a person, if only everyone worked as well as Christine. courteous, respectful and knows how to treat a person, if only everyone worked as well as Christine. More
We went to this dealership to buy a used van that they had listed in an ad on several websites. We called ahead to let them know we were coming. The salesman said he would have the van ready for us when had listed in an ad on several websites. We called ahead to let them know we were coming. The salesman said he would have the van ready for us when we got there. When we arrived, it took over 30 minutes to have the salesman bring the van over from another lot. We took it for a test drive and liked it. The price was right, so we didn't even try to haggle. The salesman said he was going to double-check the price, and came back and said everything was good. We had already secured a loan, but the salesman said they could probably match or beat our loan. We agreed to save ourselves the hassle of leaving the dealership to pick up a loan check from the bank. Right after they ran our credit, and told us we were approved, the manager came over to inform us that the sales price that was published in multiple locations was incorrect and that the van actually cost $4000 more. He said he could not go any lower than that and insisted it was a marketing error. My husband pointed out that even if it was a marketing error, most business will honor the marketing error. He said he absolutely could not go any lower. The weird thing is that at least 3 other dealerships had pretty much the same van going at the same rate that this dealership had published, so if they could all afford to sell at that price, why could McGrath not afford to sell at that price? Oh, and where was our lovely salesman while we were agruing back and forth with the manager? He was over in a group with other workers watching us and laughing. LAUGHING! I cannot say enough how horrible we thought this dealship was, with making us wait around so long, not honoring prices they publish, and visibly showing such a lack of respect for their customers. I would NEVER purchase a car from them, or any other McGrath dealership. We did end up getting the van (with less mileage) from Gleview Suzuki for $2 more than the price McGrath had advertised, and with significantly less hassle. More
Jody sent me a mailer saying that my car qualified for a rebate becasue the gas mileage wasn't what Hyundai had advertised. I was keeping records of my gas mileage and knew this to be true. I called him a rebate becasue the gas mileage wasn't what Hyundai had advertised. I was keeping records of my gas mileage and knew this to be true. I called him and he told me to come in and see if I would qulify for a debit card to reimbuse me for the difference. I went in and was given over to a salesman who spent a lot of time running around playing with diffrent computers only to come back and say my car didn't qualigy for the debit card but I could pay an extra $3500 dollars and get a 2013 car (same model). I asked if the new car would correct the mileage problem and I was told, oh no we can't promise that. The whole thing was just a bait and switch game to get a new sale. It was a complete waste of my time and I could have been told over the phone that my care didn't qualify. In fact the Wall Street Journal had an article about the mileage problem and it said that the Sonata's did not qulaify. I feel this practice is very deceptive and I will not take my car there for servcie any longer. How could you trust a dealership that endorses such practices? More
